BEST (NOT) BUY ... (Discontinued Model)
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.THIS IS A DISCONTINUED MODEL (BY ROKU THEMSELVES). THEY REPLACED IT WITH THE STREAMING STICK + IN 2018. It will still work, but it's a model that was replaced less than a year after it came out. ROKU DOESN'T EVEN SELL THESE ANYMORE. BEST BUY, STOP MISLEADING PEOPLE WHO DON'T KNOW BETTER!

Bad device

Once you go to home screen it only takes 30 seconds for the stick to reboot and turn the TV off. This went on for 3 hours before customer service said it was a bad device and wanted it back. Going back to Best Buy and will get a Fire stick. ROKU sucks.

TOO HOT TOO HANDLE

Remote is Garbage
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Constant issues with the remote losing connectivity. It seems to be an issue with the IR remote. I have tried the every trouble shooting suggestion on their site, none works. They have no online chat and no live person to speak to. I was finally emailed by some guy name Danny and he asked for me to specify what was my exact issue. This was after I wrote a detailed email explaining that my remote stops working, I have to repair, then it stops working again, and its rinse and repeat all over. Not sure how many different ways I can explain that my remote is not working. Bottom line this is a major issue with the Roku 4/ IR Remote. Not convinced, Google "My Roku remote stopped working" and read the posts. Within one day of me posting my issue on Roku's Community page, I received close to 10 replies from people saying the exact same thing. It's a week later, no response from Roku but I keep receiving replies from people that are highly upset with the same issue. Terrible product.... Even worse customer service!!!

Non-existent customer service

There is NO WAY at all to talk to anyone at Roku. They have built their website so you can only handle a few problems there, and you cannot get around the phone menu robot. In other words, NO HELP AT ALL. I like the Roku just fine, but I still expect to be able to talk to someone when it's necessary.

No Warranty!

Roku does not stand behind their products and honor the warranty for defective devices. I contacted them for a faulty device and they would not follow through to remedy the issue. Apparently, they expect you to buy another device if you have a faulty one. Very questionable company lacking integrity.

Not what was expected at all
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went to Best Buy to buy a stick for my elderly parents that I could install 3rd party apks on. I was going after a firestick but the sales guy assured me that this was better and had an android subsystem so the 3rd party apk could be installed. I have recently found out that the only way to stream is to cast the stream from another device such as an android phone. As the TV is a smart TV, I can do that without this. Looks like another trip back to the store to get what I originally went after. I wish that if a salesman actually wanted to sell me something, maybe they should investigate what they are telling people to ensure accuracy and avoid multiple trips to the store. I am definitely less apt to buy any High dollar items from here now.

Shocked

A picture was taken, so why when my neighbor knocks on the door was the package in a different place, they steal in my neighborhood. My e-mail said it would take at least 24 hours before I would even get a due date. We talked about this. I'm getting ready to open box now, I am soooooo disappointed, was this delivered by Fed-Ex this is something they would do that's why I order from you, so my package is safe. First time for everything. but I will still order from you.

Quit working after one month

It worked to unplug the power for awhile, but got worse and worse. The last time I had to pull the power at least a dozen times before it would work. I reached out to Roku customer support and they said it was my internet that was the problem. It works fine on every other piece of equipment in my house. I guess it's just garbage.

Avoid....If Netflix user

Reinstalled older model Roku and Netflix works fine but not on new 3800r model. Tried all the resets, reloads, updates, etc with no success. Netflix users should google using this Roku problems before purchasing . Love older Roku's, new 3800r is junk for me and is heading back to Best Buy for refund. UGH!!

Horrible

I switched and put in a USB port on my TV, and that was better. But it is SOOOOO slow to connect and the remote CONSTANTLY unpairs (And I have Gigablast internet, so it's not that). I kept it three days, and returned it.

Secondly, I have a Synology server and the DS Video app was an old version on the Roku Stick. DS Video newer app is no longer supported on Roku devices.

Lasted only 18 days

My Roku stick only lasted 18 days, and Best Buy return policy is 15 days. My only resort is manufacturers warranty, Roku is willing to replace it, but I will be without streaming service for 2 weeks.

Then tried several times to activate on line but got circular wait icon forever. Called the customer service line and the wait time 10 minutes. BACK INTO THE BOX AND BEST BUY. PIECE OF JUNK !!!!!!
