The Roku Ultra is the top of the line Roku and for good reason. With 4k support and vastly better WiFi performance the Ultra stands up when it comes to streaming devices in the Roku line as well as competition. If you are familiar with the Roku interface there is nothing new here. The Ultra does tend to perform a bit better than the smaller USB models but all in all the experience is the same when it comes to navigation. Where the Ultra shines is the ability to support high resolution 4k television and streaming of 4k services. At this point everybody knows about 4k and what it has to offer so I wont' be going into detail here just know it works and works well if you have a decent pipe to the internet. One point I always like to bring to light about the Ultra model that many don't take into considering is the WiFi capabilities. While the cheaper models work they tend to require a very strong signal to provide the best experience. The Ultra on the other hand loves a strong signal (-52 - -64) but will allow for much better range of your network. I have tested the Ultra from within closed closets and walls where the other units failed and this unit seems to find what little signal is left and make it work. If you are looking for the best possible reception and are concerned I would opt for the Ultra over the cheaper counterparts for this very reason. All in all the Roku is my go to streaming device. Sure you will have moments of frustration when you have to reboot it but this is life and nothing is important. I have many more hours of streaming bliss than problems. I highly recommend picking one of these up if you are on the fence about what streaming box to choose. The Roku Ultra is the king of the hill and with its easy simple to use interface it fits in everyone's viewing room with ease.

If your Smart TV doesn't allow you to download all of the apps you might want (yeah you Samsung and DirectTV Now) you need this device. Clean interface, easy to hook up and great picture.

I've been using an older model Samsung BR player (2012 maybe) for streaming Netflix and Hulu, this Roku blows it out of the water! Don't worry if you are still using 720 or 1080 setups; the player will auto-detect the signal, and even the HDMI cable in use! That's right, if you have one that's not compliant on the new HDCP 2.2 standard (or if you don't even know what that is), your Roku will figure it out. Playback is extremely streamlined. As it's factory setup, the Netflix shows play the first episode's opening, and then the following episodes it skips right to the next episode, no title song. Great if you get tired of hearing Arrested Development's ukulele or AoT's angst rock ballad. Audio is not as adjustable, basically there's auto and stereo. So if you're trying to toggle for 5.1 vs. 7.2 channel, it won't send a different signal. My only beef with the player is that unless you have it setup to be a second remote for the TV, it won't JUST turn off power to the Roku. (But I think that might be our setup because we're using the AnyNET device setup on our equipment.) It does pick up a wireless signal (AC standard), but I opted for a cat-6 Ethernet cable to make streaming as reliable as possible. (To avoid signal drops and dead zones.) Our modem/router is right next to the unit. Highly, HIGHLY recommended if you're really into Amazon, Hulu and Netflix streaming. If you have a Smart TV or player and they're slow to stream, also recommended. But if you have a state of the art 8000 level series with any of the major names, this player is kind of pointless. I will point out that I got it because it's a 4K streaming device and we plan on upgrading all of out stuff after this year. Just not right this second.

I have a smart tv so it has the WiFi hub built In however with this device I never get frozen screens , get better picture Quality, and sound , it is also a lot faster !.. definitely recommend it

easy set-up and easy-to-use with right HDMI cable. If you encounter any problems with some of the issues noted online then check your connections and quality of the cable (i.e., a recent HDMI not an older one but not the gold-plated over-priced ones!). Roku Ultra 4K provides great video quality and provides some of the better apps of all the major players in streaming media. You can enjoy video, music, photos, games and about a zillion other niche apps easily and play them with no problems. The SD card is useful if you like to load up on apps and ensure smooth startup for them but not necessary nor does it store anything other than apps--a USB input allows for other media.

This is a good media player. The interface is respectable and has all the apps I need. I primarily use Plex, Netflix, DirecTV Now, Nick, and a few others. I have an Apple TV 4K as well. While the Apple is more expensive, I prefer the layout and interface better. I also like using iTunes and Channels with my Apple TV 4K.

Purchased for daughters room to be able to watch Netflix and got a whole lot more! Setup was easy and with the ability to connect to hard wire for internet the streaming quality is great!

We upgraded from our previous roku because we wanted to view things in 4K. If you don't have a 4K television, there is no need to pay for the extra money eye for this roku. Get a cheaper one and save yourself some money. The only other noticeable feature is it allows voice search, which I find to be annoying more than fun.

Great streaming device since I cut the cable cord. I prefer my Roku compared to my Chromecast and Amazon fire stick. More channel options and menu is easy to navigate.

I thought about buying a new TV with integrated Roku to replace my Samsung Smart TV but for $100, I got all that I wanted, that is a smart tv with a good selection of Apps. Everything works better with Roku: Netflix, Hulu, You Tube and now I can subscribe to Fubo to watch sports. The control takes over all the features of my Samsung but much easier and compact. You can even plugnin headphones to the remote control and listen without disturbing others. I made the right decision. You can runnit wireless or wired and the streaming is perfect

I was a Amazon stick user but was looking for something a little faster that I could add more to. Someone suggest Roku and it’s been awesome, easy to use and there are lots of free apps!

I’ve had an Amazon fire stick and the performance of the Roku is so much better. The streaming quality is great and I haven’t had any issues with network connection like the fire stick.

This purchase was a replacement for my older Roku Ultra. There are minor upgrades and performance, plus a newer remote. Works great. My older model start having problems. Thumbs up!

Simple to install and setup. Automatically detected my system’s capabilities and up in just a couple of minutes. Handles Netflix and YouTube videos much better and faster than my Smart TV.

The Roku Ultra streamer is great. I use it to stream TV and it provides nice user interface and is powerful enough.

Replaced my amazon tv with this player, has a few video quirks once in awhile, but overall has a very good picture!

This new version has much better remote, can control TV power and volume. Set-up is easy. If you have a Roku account, it just takes a few minutes to get it going. However, if the private listening is used, somehow the remote would not be able to turn off TV anymore, hope Roku would fix this glitch soon.

Much better than the old model. First of all, the screensaver is so cool when you turn it on. It looks like an aquarium! The best feature is that it incorporated controls for your TV and automatically connects it for you (on/off and volume). No need to search for my TV remote anymore. Great job Roku!
