Horrible quality control here. May have been a defective item but the Roku kept glitching out and restarting on its own. Be cautious.

Great Upgrade form my old Roku

I upgraded from Roku 2, to 2017 Roku Ultra, and wow such an improvement. If you have 2016 Roku Ultra, I dont think it would be worth upgrading, but with older devices, there is much improvement, especially with sound. The only thing I dont like is that I can't still customize on remote my preferred apps. Other than that, I am very satisfied so far.

Love Roku, Ultra 2017 is my 4th, but major bugs

First off, I should say that I've owned Rokus for a long time, and even though I got an Android-based Sony TV (4K HDR, X900E) which should support all of the apps I need, I still got a Roku. It's mostly great, but there is a major bug if you want to get the most out of your setup. Simply, 4K HDR 60hz (in 4:2:0 or 4:2:2) is very buggy. My screen flashes constantly every few seconds, making it unwatchable and unusable. After having the Roku completely flake out, I did a factory reset to get it back to downgraded settings that do work. 4K HDR 30hz = great, but losing out on 60hz content in HDR at 4:2:2 4K HDR 60hz = not usable

Cheaper would have worked? Maybe, but ...

I got the Roku Ultra instead of the Roku Premier because the extra bells and whistles include some things I like a lot -- the headphones on the remote, controlling the TV sound -- and things that I might consider using, like talking at the remote. None of the sticks would have worked because of where the setup is located -- the Roku needed to be high on the wall to get a good WiFi signal. I am extremely pleased with the Roku; it handles 4K better than the Vizio TV or Panasonic Blu-ray player does. My son says it's because it's got a better (and newer) processor. He's the expert.

Very pleased, bad reviews weren't true for me

I just replaced two Model 2100 XD/S from 2011. Very pleased with my purchase and was very hesitant at first when reading the 1 and 2 star reviews. Installed one by Ethernet and the other by WiFi...no hitches or hiccups. Pairing the remotes to my TV's worked great...understanding that for one TV I could not pair the volume because of my soundbar. A little pricey, but I love the features of the remote and that I can go wireless or Ethernet-which I could also do with the 2100. The old Roku gave me 720 on one of my tvs and now I get 1080 for a much better picture. Also, for the new Roku, the menu format has much more flexibility and utility for me as a user compared to my old 2100 box. But I only bought new ones because Roku had stopped supporting the 2100 in 2015 and the units were becoming pretty much un-functional as time passed...so I am forced to keep the revenue stream flowing for Roku :( ...and not be green by throwing useful hardware away to keep Roku rich.

Super easy set-up and compatible with Xfinity

I recently switched over to Xfinity and my sales person told me about getting a couple of Roku boxes vs having to rent additional boxes. The set up was very easy and the ability to stream Xfinity as well as Prime, Netflix, etc. is really great - plus this particular model will stream 4K. At $10/month rental for a cable box vs $89 purchase, they will pay for themselves very quickly.

    Great streaming box

This has become our default TV watching device after we dropped Dish, and we couldn't be happier. Snappy, has every app you could want, and great picture quality. If you want the best streaming box on the market, it's between this and the Apple TV. If you're not in Apple's ecosystem, this is the one to go with.

    Amazing

I bought this on a whim. Wow was i surprised. The description on the box and on bestbuy dont do this amazing device justice. I really didnt expect alot from this device, but figured it would be better than running my few streaming apps on my xbox one s. I have loaded 30 + cha nels so far. It has the wwe network, and to my amazement it had britbox . Freakin awesome to be able to watch all the classic Doctorwho episodes. Amazon prime video and music run flawless. I have a wired xbox headset and it plugged into the remote and sounds amazing. Just wish i could somehow find a way to use my wireless headset. But the dongle is usb and i think the box usb is input only. I can also watch xfinity from within the roku device, it has a faster interface than the cable box, and you have full access to your dvr. There are hundreds of free tv stations available. This device was well worth the $90, and i would recomend it to anyone who wants or needs streaming services. Everything in one place.

So easy to setup and use

I tried all the different types such as Apple (hated the remote), Amazon fire 4k, fire stick, Tivo and many more. We have the Ruko Ultra and added PlayStation Vue. We already had Netflix. Absolutely couldn't be happier. Saving over a $100 a month from cable.

I had a Roku 3 so I knew I would like the brand, but the setup was extremely easy and I love the convenience of operating the power and volume of my TV as well. Only one remote I need to keep track of!

    Upscaling was aggravating, returning it

I was happy with my Apple "TV 3" and my 4K SUHD HDR10 Samsung. Wanting to enjoy 4k content, I bought the Apple TV 4K. A few reviews noted that the 4K now up-scales all content to try to appear like 4K, which they said can be annoying. I didn't think it would bother me, a typical TV viewer. Wow, were they right. I was much happier watching The Orville (FoxNow app) with my "TV 3" than with the grainy, dark "TV 4K." Some content was just fine so I conclude it is the way the TV 4 processes some data. Really aggravating - I wanted to hook my TV 3 back up to watch the episode. This was true for a few shows, not just The Orville. I fussed with a lot of settings to no avail. So, I'm going to get the Roku Ultra which the reviewers said doesn't alter the signal, and enjoy 4K when it's available and less-than-4K when that's what I'm receiving.

    Perfect fit for cord cutters

We cut the cord from our cable provider and now stream our live TV using Playstation Vue. The Roku provides a 'cable box' user experience allowing you to have all your streaming services a click away. We've added these to all our TVs in the house now. Adding services or apps is super simple. Overall setup is done in a matter of minutes.

    Really great WiFi improvement

We have a very high bandwidth but our Roku express in the basement wasn’t getting much of a signal. I decided to buy a Roku Ultra in hopes of an improvement and couldn’t believe how much better it was. Ive run all the tests on Netflix and Vudu etc and the WiFi reception is just many many times stronger. It’s even stronger than the Roku express that sits right next to our router. Now I need to get a 4K tv for down there or else I’ll feel like I’m wasting good signal. The remote also feels a lot more responsive, and it can be programmed to the tv as well. There’s a find remote feature that I’m sure we’ll use eventually. Don’t know if I’ll ever use the headphones on the remote but it’s an interesting idea. Worst case we have an extra pair of earbuds lying around. In summary, I was 50/50 on whether I’d keep the ultra or need to return it, and now I’m 100% pleased with it. It’s quality is so strong, which was apparent right away.
