If you're having trouble with your Roku remote, try these steps: First, reset your Roku remote by pressing and holding the pairing button at the back of your remote for 20 seconds. If your remote doesn't have a pairing button, press and hold the Back and Home buttons for 20 seconds. Then, restart your Roku device, replace or recharge the batteries, and re-pair your voice remote to your streaming device. For detailed instructions, refer to this link: https://support.roku.com/article/21306145024535#section-2. If the issue persists, try to check for any updates to the Roku software. To check for updates manually, press Home> Settings>System>Software Update>Check Now. If the issue persists, feel free to contact us at support.roku.com/contactus.

I put in new ones it worked perfect. I have no idea why they were dead but after new ones it worked like it was supposed too. Things happen but very happy with it.
