You had to crank it up to 100 to actually make a difference. The only good thing about it was the subwoofer as it did give you a noticeable rumble.

I am glad to see that you are happy with the overall performance of the HW-R550 Soundbar.
To optimize your audio experience, please try the various sound modes this model offers. Press the SOUND MODE button on your remote, and the select the your desired sound effect: STANDARD, SURROUND SOUND, GAME, or SMART.
You can further adjust TREBLE and BASS via the SOUND CONTROL button (looks like a gear symbol).
Lastly, push the WOOFER button on the remote up or down to adjust the volume of the subwoofer to -12 or between -6 to +6.
