A lot of fridge for one person, great features

I've only had this fridge a couple of weeks, but so far I'm pretty happy. It is quite large, so my brain is still getting used to the amount of space it takes. But the features! I haven't really used many of the smart features yet, but my other new appliances were smart, along with most of my house, so I figured I might as well go for it. I didn't really find a need need for the Family Hub version, although I wanted to want it. It didn't really offer much more than having a tablet or smartphone onhand does, with the exception of allowing you to look inside the refrigerator without opening the door (but then you lose the door-in-door which i wanted more). Other than that, nearly all the other features can be handled by one of the many other devices you probably already have in your house or your pocket, and the Smart Things app. And for a 1,000 bucks, I can grab my tablet and keep it on the counter next to the fridge if necessary. Pros: 1 - The the drawers slide easily, feel sturdy, and the water pitcher fills really fast. I like the detail of the flip-down metal arm to keep items on the right door from falling out when you open it. Also, the easy-access door has come in quite handy for quickly grabbing a protein shake, Gatorade or butter instead of having to open the entire door to grab one small item. 2 -The Flex Zone is really cool. It's great for dividing the drawer for each person in the house, different categories, etc. The sliding steel divider accommodates up to 28 1/4" x 16", or any dimension within that range, So if you have large deli platters or are marinating large trays of meat, this this is an ideal space to do it.. The drawer is only 5" tall, so you won't have have a lot of vertical space, but I'm able to store 2 1-dozen egg cartoons on top of each other with no trouble. I saw varying reviews and product descriptions before buying this fridge that mention that the Flex Zone can be used as extra freezer space. That is incorrect. It has a range of 41゚ down to 30°F, which is not freezer temperature (0°F). 3 - The freezer storage is really huge. I was unsure if the depth of the bottom drawer would be enough to hold, for example, a 24-pound frozen turkey. Happily, the bottom freezer drawer is quite deep, and with the movable vertical divider, you could even store a large box up to 15" x 15" on one side. And if your bird (or other other frozen item) is tall, the upper freezer drawer lifts out and allowing you a few more inches of vertical space (up to 18" tall). I would caution, however, that the drawers are made of plastic, so anything overly heavy might cause damage. The plastic is not thin, but I would worry about bending or cracking it if the item was too heavy in one spot. 4 - When opening the lower freezer drawer, the upper drawer comes out a little automatically to the perfect point so that you can easily access the items in the bottom bin, or reach in and side the top drawer to its full extent without much effort. 5 - The ice and water dispenser "window" is generously wide. I can hold up a medium sized saucepan to fill directly, but it did make kind of a mess with ice chips escaping behind the pot. The only real cons are: 1 - The 2 shelves on the right side only have 3 positions available, and only 1 on the left (no options), And both left and right doors have zero bin placement options, so there's not much flexibility for your vertical storage space. The design tries to make up for it with a flip up shelf on the top left and a drop shelf on the lower right side which which converts that shelf into only half its depth so tall stuff can be stored on the front of the bottom level (blocking any items in the back). The flip up shelf on the left clicks into to the shelf on the right, However, if you have lowered the right shelf then that flip up shelf has no lateral support in the center. It does not hold much weight, so even though it is now the perfect height for canned drinks, the structure is not strong enough to stay level with much weight on it. The engineers could have added plastic or nylon straps from the ceiling to act as supplemental vertical support, or a metal rail on the right side of the shelf. 2 - The vegetable bins on the bottom of the refrigerator are not very deep (~6"). So if you are one to buy a huge head of lettuce, cabbage, or if you want you want to chill anything larger than a small melon, it is not going to fit in the drawer. 3 - The drip reservoir under the water and ice dispenser is shamefully shallow. I slowly dripped 2 oz of water into the trough. At exactly the last drop it spilled over. If the the water was not being added very carefully, it would have spilled over long before that. There's no reason that could not have been a bit deeper, especially since that is the most likely place where kids will fill up their cups. 4 - It is also a little disappointing that there's no easy-access ice bin that you can take out and dump into a cooler. Certainly you could make ice cubes with trays in the drawer. However, you will have to be careful opening and closing that drawer until the water has frozen over, and you won't be able to make very much at one time. It will end on a positive note that is not specific to this refrigerator, but to the Samsung smart appliance line. The Smart Things app that you will use to connect your refrigerator to your smart home was extremely fast and easy to set up. Also, there are features in the app which which are available on the Family Hub version without having to pay an extra grand for a screen on your door. You can control the temperature in all of the zones, turn your ice maker on and off, turn on/off power cool and power freeze, monitor your energy use, self-diagnosis and technical support, and so much more. Some of these features are also accessible through your smart home assistant. For example, I can use Alexa to turn my ice maker off if I'm going out of town and I forgot to do it before leaving without using the Smart Things app, Or just ask Alexa to check and adjust my refrigerator temperature using my voice from the couch. The main thing that it adds (that is a selling feature of the Family Hub version) is the ability to keep track of your refrigerator inventory with a photo, location (fridge/ freezer/Flex), and expiration date, with notifications available. This might not be useful to some people, but a reminder to eat that ice cream before it goes bad could make the difference between an average day and a good one. :)

Purchased November-2019, started having problems with icemaker, they came and "fixed it", it accumulates water from left over ice in the ice tunnel and leaks water, now also only we get crushed ice, the cubed ice feature does not work, also the icemaker freezes over after after 4-6 month and you cannot open the ice compartment and have to use a hair dryer to open it up, now the ice gets stuck

This refrigerator delivers on all points. Love the filtered water and ice, lots of space and versatility for everything! It’s freezer is super roomy and we love the flex zone drawer. It keeps all our beverages at just the right temperature. Showcase door is wonderful for milk and other frequently used items while still keeping them nice and cold. I guess if I had one issue, it would be you need to hold the glass up to the ice dispenser opening when getting crushed ice or a few go out the sides. Otherwise, we all love it! Did I mention how convenient the auto filling pitcher is? Awesome!

Love the storage! We went from a counter depth side by side doors to this four door model. We use the middle drawer for drinks. And it works great. We use the condiment door more than I thought we would. Only 4 stars because the ice maker makes small ice that melts quickly. And if we need to dump the ice into a ice chest, remaking a full ice bin takes quite a while.

Continuously have to dig ice out of the back of the ice maker. For some reason water is getting around where the wire harness for the ice maker is and freezing. Absolutely terrible engineering. Buy literally any other brand..

Great Fridge for a big family!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The Samsung 28R7351SG/AA is the perfect fridge for our family of five. It has many innovative features to it that I wasn't entirely sure about at first, but have completely won me over now that I've used them. First, it's a gorgeous color! The 'black' stainless steel color that Samsung offers is just great, and looks very sleek--plus, as an added bonus, magnets actually stick to it! With 3 kids this is kind of important for hanging art, reminders, etc. Also, the fingerprint-resistant finish is great (see: 3 kids). The door shelves on my old Samsung were very flimsy. We had to replace two of them in the three years we had the fridge. Samsung has completely redesigned the door shelves and they are MUCH sturdier now! They are shaped well with great space to them. The fridge shelves are terrific--clean, sleek and conveniently placed, with a convertible shelf to make room for taller items. The one bad thing about them is they aren't very versatile in placement--they really can't be moved from where they are. Fortunately they can be removed if necessary. The Food Showcase door is a simple but super-convenient innovation! We store drinks and snacks that we use most often in that door. It's GREAT with kids (who otherwise love to stand there with the door open trying to figure out where their drinks are...). The "flexzone" drawer I wasn't sure about, but now I wonder how I ever lived without it--it's another fantastic feature with kids! We love drinks--Gatorade, water, sodas, etc., and we have a ton of them around. Now we store them in the flexzone along with other smaller items like yogurt and fruit and other things the kids can find easily without having to dig around the fridge. We haven't had to convert it for anything else yet, but it's nice to know we have the option--we like to occasionally hit a great sale on steaks and this space will be perfect to freeze the excess until we need it. I used to think internet connected fridges were dumb, but now that I have one, I completely understand the usefulness of it. The 'smart things' app on my Samsung phone found the fridge right away--from there I can set the temp of the freezer and fridge, turn the ice-maker off, and even troubleshoot if there's an issue. With a Samsung Smart TV (yes, I like Samsung haha) we even get an indication ON THE TV if there is an issue with the fridge (like the kids leaving the door open...again) and that's come in handy several times already. The redesigned ice dispenser is great--the last few models digital controls were hard to see and difficult for my smaller children to switch from ice to water, etc. This model changes the controls to a simple, attractive push-button design that is very easy to set. Simple is always best, especially when kids are involved. Another nice change--the temperature controls have been moved inside to a much less noticeable area. It sounds dumb, but it's so much better than having a cool, electronic interface on the front--my kids thought the controls were cool...and had no idea they were changing the temperature of the fridge every time they pushed the button to hear the neat sounds it made. Now, it's still easy to set, but it's inside and out of the way, and doesn't hold any interest for my kids at all. This all results in my fridge staying at the same temperature since the last time I set it!!! The big drawback to this fridge is the same as any other french-door design: there's really not a good place to put the ice maker where it won't cost interior space. We upgraded in size a bit from our old Samsung fridge, so it's less noticeable in this model. The only other option is to not have the ice/water dispenser, and with three thirsty kids that's really not an option for us. We'd lose just as much space with a water pitcher and ice trays in the freezer. Overall this is a fantastic, beautiful refrigerator, with some great redesigned features that make it perfect for my family of five!

We have had the WORST time with this refrigerator. We bought it in November 2019, and from the start, the icemaker drips water down the ice chute onto the fridge and floor. NOT the water dispenser. The Icemaker. The Auger shaves a LITTLE bit of ice off as it's turning, and when it dispenses, it leaves those shavings in the chute. Like Light icy snow. And it sticks to the chute walls. We had repair people come out in the first year over 4 times to "fix" it. the rescheduling with Samsung and the repair company and the back and forth took almost a year to get the last repair person out to us. He did his best. And installed a complete new Ice maker. However, it does the same thing. And it drips down the front of the fridge, and onto the floor. After a YEAR of trying to make this right, we wound up just living with it to this day. And also the warranty was up a year later. sigh..... So it still is doing this. You spend over $2000 on a fridge and it just makes you so mad when they can't get this one thing repaired. And now, 15 months after purchase at Best Buy, the front panel for choosing Cubed/Crushed Ice, or water has now stopped working. it will dispense ice, but ONLY whole. No water. No Crushed. I have a lot of Samsung products in my family. Five S10 and S20 Galaxy phones between us all, a nice monitor, so I thought since those products are solid, the refrigerator would be as well. I would 100% without a doubt NOT recommend this product to friends. It has the potential to be a good fridge (and a bonus - I did NOT have the issues with the icemaker that a LOT of people had, and it does cool food and freeze items in the freezer) but again, I could have gotten a fridge for half this price WITHOUT a front dispenser panel and save the hassle. But I spent the money expecting it to work. And it doesn't.

My freezer and ice maker both stopped working 1 day after my 1 year warranty. My warranty ended on Oct 31 and it stopped working November 1st. Now I am stuck paying for repair services on a fridge I spent 3k on. It’s crazy that the ice maker and freezer would both go out on the same day. Lost a freezer full of food. Very disappointed.

It's not flawless. The look is fantastic with the black stainless steel. My wife and I were hesitant to get an ice maker in the door and we're still on the fence about it. It does make a fair amount of noise (not awful), but our main concern is any time we try and use the ice dispenser it seems like it takes a lot longer than necessary to start trying to get ice out (and working too hard for something that should be pretty automatic). But we love the refilling water pitcher in the door and the LED lighting on the inside is second to none. Next model would do well with adjustable shelves in the door instead of being stuck with what the manufacturer makes us use. But overall, very good fridge.

I LOVE my fridge. I show it off to everyone that comes to my home, demonstrating the drawer and how much room is in the freezer. How smooth the silent the drawers are. My I use that showcase door ALL THE TIME. I love quickly accessing milk and creamer w/out losing much temperature with that door. My 2nd favorite item is the pitcher. I often add cucumbers or lemons and drink my infused water daily. Just remember to use the ice machine daily so it doesn't freeze over. I learned that lesson the hard way.

I purchased this refrigerator after our old one started breaking. I was looking for a bigger unit with more storage and this one seemed to offer some of the space options that my old unit did not have. For the most part I am happy with this model compared to my last model but here are a few things that I do not like about this refrigerator; (1) There is no light in the freezer section. That absolutely makes no sense to me. Why would they not put a light in the freezer? If I go to get something out of the freezer with the kitchen light off, I cannot see anything. I was thinking that maybe something was not hooked up correctly but the manual does not indicate that there is supposed to be a light in the freezer. Again, it makes no sense since one needs to be able to see in the freezer as well as any other section of the refrigerator. I would not have bought the refrigerator if I had known this before purchasing. (2) The door-in-door or food showcase seems useless. It claims to save energy by not opening the whole door. However, when you just open up the showcase door it seems that just as much cool air comes out as if you opened up the whole door. The only thing that does not open is the bezel of the door which is not very big. While I like being able to grab a gallon of milk, it really does not seem to serve a purpose. (3) I really do not like not having adjustable door shelves. While I like the fact that there are quite a few shelves on the two doors, I really do not like that they cannot be adjusted to my liking. A couple of shelves on the left door are completely useless. The only jars or products that fit in them would be the size of baby food jars. Unless you have a baby, nothing else fits. As to the other shelves some of them are just too narrow or not tall enough for taller condiments or bottles. Again, the shelves are better than my last refrigerator, but overall I just wish I could adjust the door shelves to my taste. (4) You have to kind of push hard for the doors to close. If your hands are full it can be a little difficult. Many times when I think I've shut the door, it is still opened. Things I like: (1) I like the second drawer or flex drawer as it does provide extra space and I like the fact that it has different temperature settings. (2) I like the fact that in the main unit, two shelves are flexible where you can push them in or fold them back for added shelf space. (3) The water jug is nice and I like the fact that it automatically fills up. However, the pitcher seems to leak when pouring water into a glass. I cannot seem to get it to stop. I think it is a design flaw. (4) I like being able to control the temperature of the refrigerator by an app on my phone. Overall, I do like the refrigerator and it was a pretty good value. There are some things that need improved but for the most part I think it will work fine for my family

We've owned a Samsung French-door style fridge for 6 or 7 years. While it was a really good one, it had a few drawbacks. The ice maker, water dispenser, and easy to get dirty stainless steel took away from the great cooler that it was. When we relocated to another state, we left our old one with the house. While looking for a new refrigerator, we considered several different brands. We ended up taking a hard look at this Samsung, as it was on a great sale and had the features we were looking for. The finish is first rate, and is a big improvement over the old stainless. Does not show nearly as many fingerprints, and magnets actually stick to it! Love the middle drawer being it's own unit. LOVE the door within a door feature! So handy for grabbing milk, juice, etc. The ice/water dispenser is also improved. The auto-filling water pitcher inside the left fridge door is also fantastic! Great for filling up a coffee maker, etc. Spacious freezer, opens and closes much more easily than our old one did. Also a much more quiet fridge when it's running. Recommended for sure!

I replaced my old Samsung Frig due to the ice maker dying long before it should have. Almost did not use Samsung because of this - there was a recall in my old one, but it was troublesome to pursue. We were also unhappy with the difficulty of keeping fingerprints off the surface. After reading the newer model had corrected these two problems & the fact that we love our other Samsung products - cell phones, watches, TVs & others we took the plunge. We have only had it a few weeks, but could not be more pleased. Especially the Fingerprint Resistant (Black Stainless Steel model) aspect. It really works!!!! No smudges whatsoever!! Looks great. The ice maker works with no problems so far, but only time will tell if that problem (ice freezeups) has actually been corrected. So, we wil give it a thumbs up at this point. Oh, almost forgot - it was on sale & we got a $200 gift card to be used only at Best Buy!! Did not know what the value of the card was until after we paid for the Frig.

Perfect size and layout. Ice maker is no longer working after 2 years (emailing/calling Samsung right now). Ice maker is very slow to dispense ice. Overall a great model and fridge... sucks that the ice maker stopped working after only 2 years of use. It will fill with water but only dump if you use the test button on the ice maker.. otherwise it just sits there and never tells it to dump.

Great refrigerator. Water automatically refills. There’s a lot of space and I like the flex zone to add more items. I love the gray color and there are barely any marks when you touch it. Heard the ice maker might be some trouble, but we will find out.

This is a great refrigerator, love almost every aspect of it. Works very well, gets very cold, has a ton of storage space. My one complaint is that the ice maker is not great, and the water from the ice maker comes out in a very weak flow. Not sure if there's an adjustment that could be made, but I haven't been able to figure it out so far. That is the only reason this does not get 5 stars. But overall it is a fantastic product.

I love the design of this refrigerator. The bottom freezer is spacious and I love the extra drawer for easier access to contents. The refrigerator drawer is convenient for short flatter items with the ability for a variety of temperature abilities for wine, dairy and meat. The main area and doors are designed for easy cleaning and storage. The shelves in the doors are removable great for salad dressings, and condiments the lift the whole tray to set on the table use. There is a water pitcher in the door that automatically refills, great feature!! The shelves in this unit have a mixed review. One narrow shelf flips up to accommodate taller items which I like. Another shelf has half shelf the slides under to accommodate taller items, I prefer the shelf that flips up. Most are easy to remove and clean. Couple of problem areas. One is the bottom shelf with the crisper drawers. The frame of the crisper drawer has a glass shelf that if you have spills, will seep under the glass and that frame is very difficult to remove from the refrigerator to clean. I had to go to You Tube to figure out how to detach and clean. Second is the ice maker!! You have to lift and pull to get the drawer out of the ice maker. If you do not use alot of ice, the bin fills and the cubes freeze together and eventually the dispenser will not work. My solution is to completely empty the ice bin once a week. So far this has worked to keep the ice maker working. Samsung has design issues to address on those two issues and they will have the perfect refrigerator design. I love this refrigerator as I love to cooks and this spacious refrigerator is perfect for high traffic and large families. I have given this excellent rating because I love this design, taking into consideration there are a couple of issues for Samsung and consumers to consider.
