Ice maker Broken within 2 months

Despite her issues, we went ahead and purchased a Samsung fridge since 3 of use lots of ice daily I figured it wouldn't have time to freeze up. WRONG! We left for 7 days for the holidays and came home to the ice maker aking a grinding noise when attempting to dispense cubed ice. It was delivered and installed by BB less than 3 months ago. $2800 refrigerator now not working properly. Crushed ice doesn't come out crushed but will at lease come out. I have been unable to remove the ice bucket/maker from the unit so I can't even attempt to resolve the issue on my own. It appears to be frozen in place, no frost is on the outside of the box at all but I've worked on this for an hour without being able to get the box loose. I've attempted to turn the ice maker off and the option is not available. I contacted BB support and was offered two options..... they can send someone to diagnose for $100 or contact Samsung. Off to Samsung I go! Wish me luck.

Refrigerator Fail

Owned for 11 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well I’d love to say this is the best fridge we have ever bought but I won’t be saying such things in this review. Although the fridge is large, sleek and spacious with some convenient features such as a middle drawer with custom temperature settings and a cool pitcher for access to quick water…it doesn’t quite fit the needs we expected this fridge to have. First off, we’ve been experiencing water leaking from somewhere in the ice machine section causing the ice bucket to freeze in place. When frozen over, the ice won’t dispense ice or water. Even the little pitcher of water it comes with won’t fill up. I have to pull the ice bucket out with some force, chisel the frozen ice out and use a blow dryer to get the rest of the mechanics unfrozen so it’ll work…for a short time before I have to do it all over again. The other headache is the shelving units. Sure you can adjust the shelves to accommodate your products but the problem is the shelves don’t go high enough for taller products because there’s a bar under the shelve that causes products to fall over or not sit right such as coffee creamer bottles, juice bottles, syrup bottles and so on. I know what you may be thinking…1st world problems, am I right? Even so, in my opinion the price of this fridge isn’t quite worth the headache you’ll get when having to call in for repairs or the inability to store taller products. I mean, isn’t this fridge supposedly made by a massive tech company who makes superior products but too massive that it can’t seem to get the simplest things like a fridge right? It’s a fridge not Jeff Bezos space rocket! First chance I get I’m going with something else. Maybe I’ll just throw in the Samsung fridge as a “bonus” when I go to sell my house one day because as sure as the sky is blue I won’t be taking it with me.

Water dispenser failed 1 day in.

Purchased extended warranty, and still going to take a week and 1/2 for tech to come fix. Very frustrating for a brand new fridge less than a day old. Other than that, the fridge is nice with tons of features. Looks great in my kitchen.

Awkward storage space.

Ice machine issues

We use ice regularly so it isn't an issue of the ice sitting too long. Very frustrated because the person that sold us this refrigerator specifically told us the new ice-maker design resolved this very same issue. Can't even get the ice bin out to figure out what the issue is. Ugh!!

DO NOT BUY

If I had, I would have read the dozens and dozens of reviews that said the ice maker would freeze up every few months and the "in door" automatic water pitcher leaked when you poured it. Mine did exactly that after I had it about 3 months. When I called Samsung to fix both issues, they said they didn't have a service center in my area so they wanted to give me credit at Best Buy to get a new one. I didn't want a new one because I actually like all the other features on this fridge and just wanted them to fix the ice maker and the pitcher. Besides I knew that any new Samsung refrigerator I replaced it with would have the exact same problems... because these issues appeared a year or so BEFORE I bought mine and Samsung had obviously done nothing to fix these issues. It's no wonder that I see this model selling for a greatly discounted price at this time. I'm sure Samsung wants to phase this model out completely and start from scratch since they don't seem to be able to fix the ice maker problem. The repairman who just replaced my ice maker said that he replaced one earlier for another customer (he told me he has replaced many for many other customers recently) and that the replacement part started freezing up... so I don't have 100% confidence that my new replacement part will work any better and by the time it will start to freeze up, I'll be out of warranty because it's taken so long to get this first one fixed. The other issue I had was trying to remove the lower shelf to clean it. I had to go to YouTube to see how to do it and it was still so difficult that the repair man that was here to replace the icemaker had a heck of a time doing it and I can't repeat what he said about Samsung's design and engineering. Being able to remove shelves easily to clean is one of the most basic things any good refrigerator should have and I cannot imagine how they thought this design was 'easy'. It was not. I have bought many other Samsung products over the years including cell phones, tablets and even a new microwave, range and dishwasher last year when I purchased this refrigerator and I always liked their products. I really like all the other features this refrigerator has... but if I had to do it all over again, sadly I would not buy it nor recommend anyone else to do so.

Disappointing (I was hyped)

Also, the water and ice come out very slow. The whole door opens when you try to open the quick access door so you have to separate it with your hands. I feel like I wasted so much money for looks. Great idea for the fridge, but the execution on the product doesn’t seem the be there. If you can live with that then great.

It had been previously serviced by Samsung for a different owner in 2019. The fridge was returned to Best Buy by that owner. Best Buy then sold the fridge to me as new. Now a few months later it is broken again. The freezer does not cool as the condenser/fan are defective. This is my third review submitted. The first two were deleted and never posted by Best Buy.

Not user friendly

But after using it for a short period of time it is not very spacious. The double door that you would generally put 2 gallons of milk is too small so one of the gallons is always smooshed. For cleaning the shelves and needing to take out is a nightmare. It took us a long time to figure out how to remove the bottom shelf. The ice maker always gets jammed up and unable to make ice. Again a nightmare to take out the icebin. I had to you tube how to do this. The ice maker gets frozen water in the back of the bin freezing the motor or rotating mechanism. So it makes this awful noise like the motor is going to blow up. The internet recommends you empty you ice bin a defrost the frozen water in the back at least 1-2 times a week! Once you have done all of that it takes up to a day to get the bin full again for ice. And have to stand on a chair and push up and out on the ice bin is difficult for anyone. We had to use a screw driver to chip out all of the frozen water that was stopping the motor from pushing the ice out into your cup. I only give this 2 stars which is above what it deserves due to the fact that this refrigerator has almost put me in tears when i need to clean it or get ice or even put groceries in it so they all fit. Not very roomy. And best buy said that I cannot exchange it so im stuck with a $2000 refrigerator. Anyone else having the same issues ??

Don't buy this Model - Has faulty ICE maker

I was very excited for new home plus the Refrigerator. but soon my excitement came to end when there was not ICE for my friends on weekend party. I was surprised so i called Samsun guy. He checked and replaced one by one all three parts ICE Maker, Moter, and PCB main panel which is behind the Refrigerator.. I said you almost changed my Refrigerator only. But again after two month again this happen for another party ICE maker stop making ICE. I called the guy again and same guy came and did Hard Reset from the back panel. when i asked if if this happen again can I do it myself. he said no you need to raise Service Request again. That mean i have to raise service request to hard reset if i need ICE again from my Refrigerator... Unfortunately, after that it started making an ICE, but soon when i used all the ICE, it stopped again.. Basically either Bestbuy gave me faulty Model or Samsung has issue in this model and not accepting it. And as customer, I dont know whom to contact and get my whole refrigerator replaced...

Icemaker Quit after 10 Months

We learned that even though we purchased a 5-year geek squad protection policy, Best Buy wouldn't help with the issue while it was still under manufacturer warranty. So, beware that if you buy a 5-year warranty, you're really only getting 4. Then, Samsung wouldn't send anyone out to fix our fridge. We have to coordinate Best Buy picking up our old fridge and trying to get a new one. In addition to the ice maker, be cautioned that the water pitcher cannot go in the dishwasher. It will melt! I was able to reshape it thanks to a Youtube video, but it's never been the same. Also, be careful when removing the pitcher because if the rubber piece falls off of the spout it will no longer work. We did not end up liking/using the water pitcher as much as we thought we would. Even though the process has been a pain, I'm glad we are exchanging this for a new fridge. I would not buy again or recommend to anyone.

Cannot remove glass shelves to clean

Apparently this is the newest model so the instructions they sent me are obsolete. The tech has to come to my house and unscrew a bunch of things and then remove it at which point I will clean it, then reassemble. This doesn't sound right to me? How do you make a refrigerator that you cannot clean the shelves?

Beautiful Fridge, Annoying Sounds

This fridge is just not at all worth buying.

I can't really explain how, but the interior design is just poor. We realized as soon as we began putting items into the fridge that the space was inadequate. The Ice machine is complete garbage. The ice takes forever to come out and eventually, the ice freezes to a solid block and you have to break the ice apart. The ice compartment also holds a very small amount of ice so we ended up buying a separate bucket to store in the freezer compartment. Move on and buy a different fridge, this one is not worth it at all!

Ice maker quit

They were installed the first week of 2020. The refrigerators ice maker would never keep up with a family of four from the very beginning. Then it started making a loud noise which the manual says this is possible. Then last week the ice maker quit completely. I’m waiting on a call back from Samsung to schedule a service appointment. I’m told someone should be here to look at it within a week. Since it is less than a year old I’m told it’s covered under warranty. If you decide to go with this purchase anyway I encourage you to buy the extended warranty. It’s sad to say but you’re probably going to need it.

Watch out for ice maker in refrigerator door

After 6 months of use the ice maker would not work. After a couple of trips it was repaired. Recently the ice maker has become loud and wouldn't produce full cubes. We called customer service and they suggested selecting crushed ice. Even though it sounded strange we tried it and it seems to be working, however it is still loud. Be wary of any refrigerator that produces ice in the refrigerator section.

Faulty Ice Maker
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We bought this refrigerator on December, 2019. Since we've had it we have a multiple issues with the ice maker. The ice maker has frozen and we have had to have service to unfreeze it. Also, can't tell much of a difference between crushed ice and cubed ice. Hopefully they will replace the whole unit as there have been multiple complants about this unit. The service has been good but for the money we paid we should have no issues.
