Samsung fridge self-filling internal water pitcher

Front door provides easy access to frequent items and the middle drawer helps getting head start on defrosting items. However, the internal water pitcher called "case water tank" is NOT dishwasher safe; deforms badly on top shelf. This should be displayed "prominently" somewhere; have not found any notice even in the manual. $125 for replacement pitcher is ridiculous. So far, as long as you are aware to wash the pitcher by hand, I would recommend.

Disappointing

One of the people Best Buy sent out said it's a common problem with this refrigerator. Very disappointing after spending so much money. Now waiting for the Samsung repair person, but he keeps rescheduling.

My biggest complaint is that the water pitcher leaks. It has leaked since day one. The other issue which I'm sure is preventable is that once any sort of liquid gets between the glass surface and plastic. It's a major pain to clean. We had some chicken breast that leaked the liquid and removing plus disassembling some of the shelves were very difficult. Other than that. Plenty of space and looks nice.

Worst ice maker design ever

Owned for 8 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had this refrigerator for about 8 months and just finished a 3 hour session with a hair dryer trying to unstick the ice maker for the second time within that 8 month period. For some reason water builds up and freezes inside the ice maker underneath the ice tray and eventually builds to the point where it cannot make ice. The first time it happened, I was able to remove the ice tray and chip away at the frozen bits, so only ended up spending a half hour or so fixing it. This last time, however, so much ice had built up, it took me 2 hours with a hair dryer to melt enough away to yank out the ice tray. I spent another 45 or so minutes chipping away ice and using the hair dryer to fully melt the built up ice. I talked to Samsung support and their solution was to defrost the entire fridge, then set the freezer and fridge 2 degrees colder to prevent it from happening again (so obviously a known issue). I’ll make the temperature changes just so next time I call support I can tell them it’s even done and reoccurred. I found other people reporting the issue online saying the temperature change didn’t fix the ice maker issue for them. On thing I do love about the fridge is the in-door water pitcher. That feature should be standard on all fridges because it is amazing! Apart from the ice maker freezing over every 4 months, its a good fridge. Because of the ice maker issue though, and it apparently being a widespread problem, I wouldn’t recommend anyone purchase any Samsung fridge with this poor design.

My fridge

I was driving to the home which was the first day I took possession of it and my realtor met this delivery. All they did was plug it in. All the protection plastic was still on the entire unit plus when I read the manual, it stated it would be 24 hours before the ice came in which was fine but on day 3 still nothing and I called the 800 number and was told to pull out the fridge and to my shock the water line wasn't even hooked up. I then took off and spent an additional $25 to get what I needed and I hooked it up myself and it worked 24 hours later. I was not happy at all and calling anybody at Best Buy is almost impossible. I really would like a credit on this fridge for what these delivery people should have done but I did it all.

Great fridge, but lacks key features for price.

But the 10lb icemaker is TERRIBLE at this price point. Shelf space is also very limited for taller items. Door space is cramped as well. The fridge is quiet and temperature is adjustable for different compartments. The doors have to be closed completely shut by hand and are sometimes, easily left open. If the doors are left open, there is an alarm that will sound as well as a notification to your smartphone. There is great lighting in all compartments, fingerprints and smudges wipe off easily. The water pitcher is a great feature as well. This fridge is 28 cubic feet and is replacing a 25 cubic foot unit. The old GE unit is much better as far as space in the fridge area and icemaker. I am very. disappointed with those aspects in a $3k unit. Other than that, its a great fridge for a medium to small family.

Nice Fridge, Leaky Water Pitcher

Looks nice, plenty of storage and organization. Recently the water pitcher started leaking which is really unfortunate as we used it all the time but not so much now that it leaks. Contacted geek squad as we got the extended warranty and after three transfers and 30 mins, no one could help me. I am very disappointed in Best Buy’s ability to service their customers over the phone. Will likely try the local store customer service desk instead of getting on the transfer train again.

Ice maker keeps getting stuck

I really like the automatically filling water pitcher. But the ice maker leaks and then freezes the ice basket in place. I already had it repaired once but it is frozen in place again.

Good fridge...

The Flex drawer is very convenient, as is the Food Showcase door. I neglected to check prior to purchase if the shelves could be moved to other positions, though, and they cannot, other than one option that creates a space that is too low for most items. The door bins cannot be adjusted at all, and the movable wire divider on them is pretty useless. The built-in pitcher on the door is more useful than we thought it would be. The ice maker produces a good amount of ice, much better than our old fridge. The capacity of the door bins on the side with the ice maker is better than our old fridge, but neither door will fit two 1-gallon jugs, which was another disappointment. The wifi app connectivity doesn't do much, but it will alert you if the door is left open, which could be handy. Was very disappointed that the fridge dropped in price by over $500 just after the 15 day price match guarantee, so we could not get the reduced price. The salesman did not inform us that they would match the price if it dropped at Best Buy within 15 days of purchase, either, or we would have kept a close eye on sales. Unfortunately, we were not in a position to wait for a sale at the time we bought it.

The water dispenser area does not have a catch tray so its all calcified, the auto fill pitcher would only fill half way, and the spout on it would leak, now it wont auto fill. Very frustrating.

Easy to handle and the water kraft in side is amazing. But when they delivered my fridge and new stove. They dented my fridge it’s on the side of the wall so you can’t see it. I tried to call but because of covid. I couldn’t get any response left a few message but no would return my call, very frustrating.

Owned for 6 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Buyer beware of freeze ups with your ice maker, Samsung Support is available, but willing to bet by the time you have this problem, options are limited...1st visit setup this week to replace parts, should a 2nd visit become necessary, a partial refund or discount of purchase on a new unit may be available, replacement of unit is dependent upon “where you are in your warranty period”. 2nd instance of the ice maker having problems, but the first time we took it upon ourselves to attempt to resolve due to COVID restrictions on in home visits. (Took everything out of fridge and allowed several hours to melt the ice and remove the storage unit) <— what a headache. Several BBY/other retail reviews led us to buy this model. Troubleshooting this problem led us down a long line of disgruntled customers who wish they never bought this brand. Apparently there is/was a class action regarding this? Always liked Samsung products and hope we don’t have to go through the whole 2nd service visit process.

Think twice before buying Samsung

Good but not great for the money.

The front access door on the right tends to open both the inner and the outer door even when you only want the front outer door to open not all the way but just enough to be annoying. Freezer drawer is incredibly noisy until you fill it up (it needs to be pretty heavy before it quiets down a little), and there is no detent to hold the top freezer drawer when you open the freezer which leaves you constantly pulling the drawer forward to get things out of it, I would have made it so you had to move the drawer back to get to the bottom of the freezer, it makes more sense that way. Water dispenser splashes quite a bit forcing you to wipe after nearly every glass to avoid water spots if you have hard water in your area. Overall though it functions as expected and I'm not totally disappointed with the purchase like the last refrigerator I bought. (Also a Samsung.)
