If the temperature control dials worked this would be a 6 star rating. Sadly this could probably be fixed with a software update and not even require reengineering. Samsung as usual makes something great and drops the ball on the pull through

    Excessive power consumption

I recently installed the 30 inch Samsung induction cooktop. After about a month, I noticed that my electric bill went up about 50.00 and also for the next month. I called the electric company and another electrician and they both came to my house to check it out. They put a consumption meter on my electrical panel and went through every circuit to determine which circuit was causing the excess current draw on my system. The final conclusion was the Samsung induction cooktop was using 700 amps of electricity when everything was off. When they turned the breaker off for the cooktop everything went back to normal and when they turned it back on, the 700 amp spike came back. 700 amps per hour multiplied by 24 hr is 16,800 amps per day. 16,800 amps per day multiplied by 30 days is 504,000 amps per month. Each kilowatt hour is equal to 1000 amps, so my consumption is 504 kilowatt hours per month just to keep the cooktop powered on with out using any of the burners. Each kilowatt hour cost .09 cents each and multiplied by 504 equals $45.36 per month just to keep power to the cooktop. I called Samsung to get their response and this is what they said: If everything on the stove works as it should, then it is not their problem and I will just have to live with the 45.36 per month or turn the breaker off and only turn it on when we want to use the cooktop.

Heat settings were very eractic. When you did achieve the setting and think things were ok you could walk away thinking it was ok and when you would go back the cooktop had turned itself off. Samsaug sent someone three time to change parts but the problem was still present. So we decided to switch to a gas cooktop and it woks great. Best Buy made the situation much better. And the cooktop is beautiful. Thanks Best Buy for you great customer service.

Bought it, got it installed 2 days ago. Used it this morning for the first time and when I cleaned it as I would with our previous induction cooktop, it errored because it got wet, and now it won't stop beeping and telling me to use the power button that doesn't work. Only way to reset it is to turn the breaker off and on again. Exchanged.

I’ve been using this range for 3-4 months , first of all the temperature is not distributed evenly on the cooking surface . Glass surface got one foggy stain and multiple scratches even though I’ve been using pots and pans strictly recommended for induction cook top .

Cooks great, but touch controls are mediocre

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

We've had this for 4 years. While it cooks very well, the touch controls are mediocre. When it comes to heating pans and pots, the induction stove is remarkably fast. It only even slows down when two pans are sharing the same "circuit". That is, when the cooking surfaces are close to one another, the induction heating bounces back and forth between the two rather than offering continuous heating for both. It's annoying, but you learn to plan around it by using another burner. While the touchscreen seems to be of decent quality, in reality it is quite disappointing and evidence of wishful thinking by the design team. It's not useless; you definitely learn how to use it on your own. But after four years, you'll still have to be watchful in order to avoid accidental errors that happen because this thing was designed poorly. Samsung provided a cute magnetic knob that would seem to make things better, but it's pretty much useless since it's too difficult to use accurately. It functions mostly as a decorative piece and, for us, a refrigerator magnet. My verdict is you should get this stove if it's your only other option, and care more about how well it cooks than how easy it is to use.

Looks great...works great...love how fast it boils water. The smart connect app could use some work but that's not the fault of the cooktop. Kinda disappointed that it didnt have the magnetic knob as those are hard to find and very expensive to replace...the only reason it's a 4 instead of 5 is the magnetic knob missing

I've owned my Samsung induction cooktop for 9 months. It heats up much faster than conventional electric cooktops, which I love. The burners hum, louder at high temperatures, despite the salesman's claims. The magnetic control is a great concept, but it doesn't respond accurately to turn the temperature of a burner up or down. My finger (digital control) sliding along the temperature gauge is just as inaccurate. Now, I'm noticing that the front burner on the flex zone does not work at higher temperatures. It clicks multiple times, then shuts off.

Bought this because I wanted induction and Samsung was the nicest looking. Big mistake. Should have gone with a brand that's got more experience with these products. The cook top worked for 14 months. 2 months outside the Samsung warranty. All the sudden it freezes up and is now an extremely expensive piece of glass. Repair quote is $780. This appliance is not worth all this money. Go with another brand. Working with Best Buy right now to see if I can get it fixed. If you're buying this cook top BUY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY!!!

    Looks great, impossible to operate

Amazing looks, great in boiling water fast. Pretty powerful. But impossible to operate due to controls issue. The controls are surface touch as well as they have one magnetic button. Both have issues. Burner control randomly decide to change setting from high to low, no one touching anything. When water spills when you are boiling something the cooktop entering a state of full paralysis, it freezes, no controls could be on or off. Nothing could be done with it for sometime until it decides to wake up and let me use itself again. Sometime 30 sec, sometime longer. It is difficult to change the burner setting, I am pretty versed in the latest technology, but it is bad design, they are not responsive. it takes 3 tries to set right temperature. I swear this cooktop has it's own personality, It is very stubborn!
