Don't be deceived by the slick look

Buy this product with caution. I purchased this cook top May 2019 at Best Buy. The cooktop is slick looking but after spending over $2000 mine is a boat anchor now. I called Samsung to see how they might help because the cost to repair was estimated to be around $1100 if both boards are failed (I get the FO failure code and have to constantly re-start the unit). Samsung said because of it's age (4.5 years) they could not help. As an engineer, I would be embarrassed to see so many negative reviews. If I was Samsung, I would have certainly at least split the cost with me. Consumers don't buy $2000 products to throw away in less than 5 years. Think about it Samsung.

    Meh

Buttons are too sensitive. Anything can turn it on or off. Towel, plate or another container. Safety feature could be risky for young children in the kitchen. Previous GE was safer.

    Do not buy, stay away

I’ve had this cooktop for less than 4 years and it quit working. It cost me around $2100 and since I didn’t have extended warranty, well that’s money down the drain. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone and it gave my wife such a hard time to work with it. Setting the temperature is very frustrating most of the time and it only takes induction cookware so all your old cookware will not work with it! We also noticed that it sometimes doesn’t heat up the whole surface area of the utensil being used, so you have to move the food being cooked around to get done. Induction is a fancy word but really not worth the price and quality. The only thing that looks great on it is the esthetics of it and the fake blue flame light that turns on when in use. Do yourself a big favor and stay away.

    Do not buy this cooktop

I bought this $2,000.00 cooktop less than a month ago and have had nothing but problems. The control knob does not work at all, when you turn it the temperature settings do not change. When you use your finger the temperature settings are widely inaccurate as it jumps between 1-15 without any precision. It’s pretty much impossible to set it to a specific value as it continually jumps around, it even changes the temperature when no one is touching the controls. The service guy has been out and has been ineffective in finding a resolution, this is clearly a design issue with this cooktop. We have received multiple error codes in the middle of cooking when the cooktop shuts down, some of which the service guy admitted he hadn’t ever seen. We usually have to flip the breaker to get the cooktop working again. Samsung customer service is the absolute worst, I have spent countless hours with them to no avail. Google Samsung customer service and you’ll see what I am talking about.

    The controls ruin the unit

The controls are the worst. They’re generally unresponsive to touch (you have to repeatedly touch a control to get it to respond) and if anything boils over, it shuts everything off. DO NOT BUY.

I am still getting use to this cooktop but so far very pleased. It is pretty high tech so it is going to take some practice. Very pretty in design
