    Love TV

I got this TV because the insignia TV that was on sale that I went in for was sold out. After speaking to a best buy worker, he said he highly recommended this TV. After looking at the specks, I was excited to get this one. It is a really great TV, except the darkness of the picture sometimes gets too dark while I'm watching and it takes a minute for it to go back to regular brightness. I do really like that the Netflix allows me to pick my profile option (some Rokus and game systems that I've used don't).

Never Again Best Buy or Samsung

I'm sure that most are happy with their Samsung purchase, but shoppers beware! My Samsung failed on day-15 after the stores closed and Best Buy's return is only 15 days (which if I knew beforehand, I would never had made the purchase). Samsung's warranty requires that the unit be take to their walk-in facility, the nearest one to me is 80 miles away in New Jersey. In my case, I'll have to pay a laborer to uninstall the set from my wall. Then someone to deliver the set now, and pick it up in 2+ weeks. Then more labor to reinstall it on my wall. And I'll have no TV for weeks. In short, it would be cheaper to buy another set and throw out my now 16-day old Samsung TV. While most people will be happy with their purchase, do you want to be the one like me -- stuck with a useless, brand new TV 2 weeks after purchase? I'll never buy Samsung again, or any set that doesn't include a 30 day return period.

Locks up – Service Response Terrible

    Posted .

A couple months after I bought this set it started displaying no video - just a dark gray screen - but still had audio and closed captions. Additionally, scraps of closed caption text sometimes remain on the screen. Since I had been traveling I missed the time period to simply return it to BestBuy – by just a few days – and had to deal with Samsung Tech "Service" (dramatically mis-named) A full power-down will correct both problems, although it may take several attempts. Tech "service" went through their troubleshooting script, and insisted it was the source (Dish), and not the TV ... it most assuredly is not. I have worked in electronics - radio, radar, audio, and medical for YEARS, and I know better. They did finally say I could get a visit from their nearest warranty service contractor, but if they couldn't duplicate the problem. I would have to pay for the service call. Since it is a randomly recurring intermittent problem, so the potential for that to happen is fairly high. Bottom line ... I would not recommend this set - or probably ANY Samsung set at this time, and if you do, or already have, and experience problems - do NOT hesitate to return it before your time runs out. Their tech "service" is totally useless.

Not a SMART TV equivalent to a PC/Mobile

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

WiFi connection is terrific & the Network will deliver an easy component speed (ie 12 mbs) with your router. But SMART TV will not replace your tandem PC/Laptop & TV if hoped for. Linux like browser, and no Adobe Flash player (ie xfinity platform set up). Not what expected - browser so so, but too limited. Great TV though. Would not recommend if web browsing material; has many APPS however. So I returned the item.

This item was delivered to my home in one day! Incredible service by Best Buy. The TV is as advertised. Very Good buy. Not crazy about the silver color -- I missed that in the specs -- my fault. Performance of the product is good. Not my first Samsung Product ; will not be my last.

    Very dark picture

I am shocked at all the good review here! I think this TV sucks. Very dark. On the TV, if someone is wearing a dark suit or driving a dark car they display as a black blob. The only way to get around this it to turn brightness & contract to full power which then bleaches out the screen. Older tube style TV have superior color balance. I spent some time on the phone with Samsung support but they can only do so much. I really wanted to love this TV! But now I'm returning this to Best Buy tomorrow. I won't ever buy another Samsung.

Good features and price but poor picture quality

Everything about this TV looked good on paper...... until I got it home. Almost impossible to get t he picture correct - either washed out or way too much contrast - the internal settings (gamma, etc) must be way off but without professional equipment, you can't adjust these (by eye). Disappointing. PLEASE BRING BACK PLASMA TVs!!!

    Cheaply built

I am a Samsung fan, however, this TV is not well built, with a very flimsy stand. The silver trim on the stand popped off. Picture is good, but on sky and white pictures there are dark spots on the screen. The TV that it replaced was much better built.

    Terrible Experience

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I was first hesitant to buy this TV in the first place because my brother's 1 year old Samsung TV stopped working out of the no where recently. However, I thought it was maybe just bad luck, but after I bought this TV I found out I was wrong. I bought this TV yesterday and already on the same day figured out that some of the apps for the Smart Hub--such as Pandora and YouTube--didn't work. On top of that, the cable television was constantly crackling to the point where I couldn't even watch TV. After an hour on the phone with Samsung customer service, they told me to contact Pandora and YouTube directly, so I drew the line there and took the not even 1 day old TV back. If I could give this 0 stars, I would. Never trusting or buying a Samsung product again, so my best advice is to look past Samsung when purchasing a TV or any electronic device for that matter.

setup as a computer monitor, had a hard time finding a setting that was just right (there is a amazing number of settings on this tv,almost to many) initially i couldn't get a display so i updated the software then restarted the computer and we were good then after a while i noticed every twenty seconds or so there would be a slight flicker on any white background webpage!!! i immediately went into the settings and tried numerous changes, turning off the eco setting, then the auto light feature...etc...etc then tried different hdmi port, then another cable no cigar......had it one day then returned shame because it was pretty nice

    Not Smart Enough At All

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The picture seems fine. But the web browsing is far too archaic. The linux os prevents many programs from running (that don't come with the tv) and blocks the possibility of downloading simple programs. Web browsing is a central feature to smart technology and in this tv should be made much easier and more enjoyable. Web browsing on the tv is slow, painstaking, and makes me feel stupid merely trying to open a single web page. The remote is decent (in particular the curved buttons for the volume and channels), but also can be made to fit the hand better, have more rapid response on the tv, and most of all, how foolish to put the [program] exit button right next to two navigation arrows and the return key. There isn't a need for an exit key at all. A user can just open another program. Just when I've spend 30 minutes spelling the name of a song letter-by-letter-by-letter-by-letter, I try to hit return and instead accidentally hit exit and have to start the 30 minutes all over again, letter-by-letter-by-letter-by-letter. It can take an hour to merely open a web page (the remote app on my phone and iPad don't help). A five-year-old can work faster and more enjoyably drawing a picture for mom than this "smart" tv allows an adult to work trying to listen to a song on the web. It's a perfect example of how digital technology has made work slower, uncreative, often useless, often meaningless, and dysfunctional (working in a way that WON'T achieve goals). The sound is decent, and I bought the accompanied soundbar and "wireless" rear speakers and like them. Overall, the dumbness far outweighs the positive features because the positive features are routine and the dumb features could easily be improved upon.

One day ownership and all HDMI....

I really wanted to like this monitor. I snapped it together quickly without fuss and was breezing through Crash Bandicoot PS4 with ease. The next day, all three HDMI ports didn’t pick up a signal. I was fuming, this monitor had it all, no ghosting, PS2 with the HDMI converter look amazing. The last Guardian was breathtaking. I was hoping to fire up Shadow of the Colossus but no go. The remote is so big and cumbersome to use. My LG remote from 2011 has less buttons and is more intutive, I'm surprised they made a remote like this. The options screens are overblown with things to do. Regular options are buried deep. To do the simplest thing, like lower the back light, you have to press so many buttons, the remote is so long, i needed two hands to operate it. There are so many useless functions that have a button, what were they thinking? Another reviewer stated a popping noise in the speaker, now it only happened to me with external speakers connected, the speakers that come with the unit didn’t pop. Stay far away from this one, the picture is so beautiful but what good is it if the signal is not being read. Also, I purchased this mainly for PS2/3/4 and a tiny bit of tv use. I needed component inputs and many tv are lacking this function. I may try the other version of this tv, I think it J5205, something like that. I might even get it from bestbuy too. One more thing, upon purchasing the unit, the sales rep was sure to offer the extended warranty but since I declined it, he was also sure to mention that BestBuy only accepts return for this unit for 15 days, after that, good luck dealing with Samsung from what I hear.
