Customers are saying

Customers praise the 4.0 Cu. Ft. 8-Cycle High-Efficiency Top-Loading Washer for its excellent cleaning performance, large capacity, and ease of use, finding it a good value for the price. While some users experienced issues with the spin cycle and noted the absence of an agitator, many appreciate the relatively quiet operation of the machine. The long-term reliability remains to be seen based on some early reports.

Like others here, mine will sometimes run continually until I stop it. Seems to only happen with small loads, so when I think the load is too small I usually throw in a few towels. When it works well it's very quiet but does take a long time. Too late to return it, but perhaps a call to Samsung. I'd just like to do a small load once in a while.

It does have a rather pronounced hum on the spin cycle or when the water pump is working, but I suppose that is the difference between a $450 machine and a $800 one. Other than that, it does a great job. No complaints at all. I do like the little song it plays when it's done.

I bought this washer on 05/31/17 and started to use it mid June 2017. I live alone so I don't use it more than once a week!!! The washer stopped working on 11/29/17. That's barely 6 months!!!! The washer machine starts and fills with water but when it reaches the spin cycle..it doesn't spin. I have never overloaded the washer so I don't think I have done anything wrong. I was first disappointed by the product...but then I was more disappointed by the Samsung customer repair. anyway!! Samsung makes good phones and tv sets...but junk washers!!!

We tried this washer twice. The first one wouldn't complete a wash cycle and was returned for another one. Same story different day. I put sheets in the washer at 10:00am and they were completed at 4:30pm.....I was in and out during the day and the load kept getting off balanced - an issue I've never dealt with in all my years of washing. Also, it keep filling and spinning over and over and over....NEVER to stop - I finally got it stopped to put them in the dryer. This one is being returned PRONTO...its a PIECE OF JUNK. DON'Y WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't usually write reviews...but I figured I should with this product. I bought the washer and dryer two days ago, and received it today. I've already done a couple of loads of laundry, and I find that the wash cycles are very long. I left the house for 3 hours, and when I came back, the washing machine was still on. This was on a normal cycle, with a medium load. Also, when I take my clothes out of the washer and place them in the dryer, I don't feel as if the spin cycle has worked very well. I love Samsung products, and previously had a pair of Samsung front-loaders which worked much better than this washing machine here (I left those machines at property that we lease out). I'm pretty disappointed, and will most likely be returning this pair for a new one, of a different model.

    Poor Product, Worse Customer Service

    Posted .

I purchased this washer when buying our new house, and the spin cycle would run continuously. Because of this, the water usage skyrocketed because it would spin dry, then refill with water, and the electricity usage was higher than normal. Loads would take 6+ hours before I would shut the water supply off and spin it again. This happened for several weeks before the technician could come out. The technician fixed the problem within minutes and said that this was a known issue on all units produced within a 5 month window. These units were somehow not recalled, even though it was a known issue. My water bill spiked to $650 and $450 the two months that this was an issue (it was fixed part way through the second month) and Samsung has been less than useless at helping resolve the issue. I’ll never buy another Samsung product after the miserable experience dealing with their “customer service” department.

    Defective

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The product was defective from the very beginning. Just like another customer review stated, this washer kept on going and never stopped rinsing and spinning and rinsing and spinning. Called Samsung customer support; they asked me to go into my basement, and try to level the machine, though it was a professional installation. When I showed disinclination, they threatened that I would have to pay for the repair service if it turned out to be a leveling problem. I capitulated and tried to level it. Then, I put it into a spin cycle to see if it was shaking; well, it was vibrating for sure but after finishing the spin cycle, it started putting water back in. My argument that it could not be a leveling issue was unheeded when I used this simple logic: let's say the machine is tilted and not leveled but it should still not start filling up the tub after the spin cycle is over, particularly, when it wasn't even asked to wash or rinse. Now, we have finally got a repair company to call us and they will come after 8 days. In the meantime we will ask our renter not to wash her clothes, and maybe, buy some extra clothes.

I'm sorry to hear about your issue, Wisconsinite. The WA40J3000AW, like many other models, is designed to add water during the spin cycle if an imbalance is detected. This often enables the Washer to redistribute the clothes to reduce vibration. I'm glad to know you have service scheduled now to help resolve this issue.

I bought Samsung based on previously dealing and being please with their customer support, which was, and still is top notch. More on that in a minute. First off..... I ran a whole 10 loads through this washing machine before it quit cycling properly. It would rinse, but then not spin. Turned it off, unplugged it for 1 hour, reset it, could not get it to go past rinsing. During the first 10 loads that it actually worked it shook like a fat kid falling down stairs. Come to find out it is part of the "exploding issue" that Samsung has yet to do anything about. Anyhow back to the failed cycles. Called Samsung, they gave me a little grief trying to tell me it wasn't balanced right, until I told them I personally put a carpenter's level on it to assure I had balanced it correctly, the tub was also lined up per the manual. They then told me to call a local tech and they would cover all costs. That is the ONLY reason this got 2 stars and not one, Samsung came through again and paid for all costs associated with failure of their product. This should be a no brainer for a company, but today there are many that do not. Come to find out the computer board was malfunctioning, and they had to send a new computer board to the repair tech and have it replaced. This took about 1 week. Tech came back today, replaced the CPU board, and so far so good. Interestingly enough, replacing the CPU board has also fixed the shaking issue, and it now runs smooth as butter. Wish I would have gotten a good product to begin with.

I purchased this on 4/20/15, they delivered it on 4/24/15 and I went to the store today (4/28/15) to return it and buy a different brand. On my 3rd load the washer would not stop running. I placed the load in at 1030 AM and at 2 PM it was still going. I stopped the cycle, put it on Spin only and left my house. Came back at 3AM in the morning and it was still going. Also, the "spin only" cycle does go through a rinse so who knows how much water I've wasted by it filling up, spinning, draining then starting the cycle over and over. I'm afraid to see my water bill. By the way, there is a "Spin and Rinse" cycle so it doesn't make sense that the "Spin Only" rinses too. Can't forget to mention that when the first 2 loads went to completion, it took 1 hour and 30 mins. Ridiculous. I don't know if other Samsung washers are quality machines, but this one sure wasn't. I was not interested in a replacement. I'm turned off by Samsung now and don't want any appliance that's Samsung. Especially after I did a google search of the complaints for this washer. Wish I had done that first instead of looking at the Best Buy reviews only. The dryer is decent though and I like the music it plays at the end of the cycle, but they're both going back. No more Samsung for me!

I'm sorry to hear about your experience, Casims. While I realize you may have already returned your Washer and Dryer, for the sake of others who may see this it's important to note that there may be troubleshooting steps that can be taken to prevent or correct such issues. For example, adjusting the leveling or redistributing the clothes in the Washer may prevent the WA40J3000 from needing to add water during the spin cycle to correct an imbalance. If the problem persists, the Customer Service Team at 800-SAMSUNG is available to help resolve the issue.

I tried to save some money and purchase this machine for the price. 'You get what you pay for' about sums it up. My machine broke after 4 years. I paid $450.00 for the washer and now it will cost me $350 in repairs only 3 years later due to a broken pump. I dy clean most of my clothes and only have a few light loads a month. This machine is barely used. What a shame. Will try to go more 'high end' next time and hope for the best.

This washer leaves dirt in the folds of laundry. I also find dry spots on sheets where the water didn't even get to them. Very long cycles and poor washing/rinsing. I'd never buy a washer that didn't have an agitator again. Horrible product!

This washer works well and is very quiet. Instruction booklet was rather unclear as to how to level it, but luckily the installer knew how to do it (not the way the book instructed though). This model does not have the energy star rating, but price was very good, and I believe it will still be very efficient on both electricity and water use. Great value.

Delivered 4/29/15, my gf started the first load at 1pm. I was at work. Gave her a call at 3pm to see how the new washer was going. Not good, it's been on spin for awhile now, won't stop. I told her to give it a min see what happens. Hour later, still on spin. Never finished, 3 hours. told her to wait for the water to pump out and stop it. Looks like samsung is making lemons, avoid this model.

This was the most annoying washer to use. It was constantly unbalanced, no matter how much I MANUALLY tried to balance it. It would wash a small load for HOURS. I'd eventually just put soaking clothes into the dryer. I ended up returning it.
