It's alright for the price

However, it offers no way that I can tell to know what sound settings you have it on, volume control is rather iffy and difficult to tell, and the rear speakers don't work with anything other than anchor screws in the wall.

You may want to try the wide range of audio adjustment settings to improve your experience to your liking.
You can try quickly optimizing your settings by pressing the SOUND MODE button on your remote, and then selecting the desired sound effect by choosing STANDARD, SURROUND SOUND, BASS BOOST, GAME, or ADAPTIVE.
You can try manually optimizing your audio experience by pressing the SOUND CONTROL button (looks like a gear) to access the setting items such as TREBLE, BASS, AUDIO SYNC, and REAR LEVEL. The selected item can be adjusted using the Up/Down buttons.
Additionally, using the WOOFER button on the remote, you can adjust the volume of the subwoofer between -6 to +6 by toggling the button up or down.

Not incredible if you compare it to more the more expensive options, but does the trick and bass is good enough, you can turn up the bass and then boost it as well, and finally there’s also a bass boost option when you switch through sound profiles. I’m happy at the price point I paid because the next step up for a 4 speaker set is more than double the cost. Setup wasn’t too hard, but instructions could be a lot better.

It turns on with tv remote but I need to shut down with the Soundbar remote. I can find no info as how to rectify this problem. Sound from rear speakers is nearly non-existent as others have mentioned. I actually believed they were not working, but with my ear at the speaker I can just barely hear sound. I’ve made adjustments but no difference. Should return for refund but threw away some of packing materials and would have to pull out speaker wire runs. Uggg. Soundbar and sub are OK.

Thank you for your review of Samsung’s A470 soundbar. I’m sorry to hear you had a frustrating experience with the TV remote turning off the soundbar, but we greatly appreciate you bringing this issue to our attention.
Please know, you can adjust the volume of the rear speakers by using the remote included with the connected soundbar. Press the Sound Control button on the soundbar remote (looks like a gear), then select REAR LEVEL and use the Up/Down buttons to adjust the volume within a -6 to +6 range.
Additionally, make sure that the source (e.g. TV output) is sending surround channels to the Soundbar. If you are using a format such as PCM, you may experience decreased volume to the rear speakers.

Watching the superbowl, had the sound bar at 100 and it still wasnt loud. However watch a dvd and have the bar at 20 and its rattling the house

This , on clearance was my choice because the original was discontinued. The front sound bar is acceptable. The rear speakers are better than the ones I replaced. The subwoofer sucks even at full volume. I’ll live with it but I would recommend spending a little more money for a better system otherwise you will probably be disappointed.

If you would like louder (or softer) bass from your subwoofer, you can adjust the level by rocking the WOOFER button on the soundbar remote, and then adjusting the level from -6 to +6. To set the subwoofer volume level to 0, press the button in.
You may also want to press the SOUND MODE button on your remote, and then select BASS BOOST mode. This will provide you with a larger emphasis on bass sound.

It was really easy to set up and connect the rear wireless speakers. Technically they aren't wireless as they are connected by wires to a wireless receiver but they work really well. A lot of reviews say they don't work well but ours work fine. We followed the manual and adjusted the settings to our likings and we are very happy with this soundbar system.
