this was definitely a step up from my last washer. I love how quiet it is. I also like the different wash options. the washer has an ability to let you know when you're clothes are done. this is very convenient if you plan to be outside. overall im extremely happy with this purchase. I didn't buy the pedestal because of space issues but if you don't mind bending down then it shouldn't be a problem.

I bought this washing machine in July of 2014. Around January of 2017, it started making a "worn bearing" noise when spinning up (after the rinse cycle). No clanking, no banging, just an ever increasing rumble. At first, it was unusual. It has steadily gotten worse. It's hard to accurately describe the sound, but think of a freight train, then imagine it running through your basement. It's so loud, you can't stand in the same room with it, as the intensity is literally painful. Obviously, something is wrong with the appliance. It also suffers from the infamous mildew smell many front-loading washing machines owners deal with. We always leave the door open, use less detergent than directed, rarely use softener, clean the bottom filter, and frequently run it through its built-in (4hr+) cleaning cycle. I have cleaned the rubber "gasket" out many times, finding all manner of grime. It helps, but the smell always comes back. Don't accidentally leave the door shut or forget wet laundry overnight - you may pass out once it re-opens. With those two significant issues aside: it has never gone out of balance. It has never malfunctioned. It has never damaged clothes. It's easy to use. It's beautifully designed. But, it stinks and it wakes the baby. In fairness, I haven't looked into repairing the noise issue, nor have I contacted Samsung (it is out of warranty, so not expecting much, but fingers crossed). I have always enjoyed my Samsung products, from cell phones to appliances, but replacing a $500(ish) washing machine every three years just won't do.

I've had this washer about 2 weeks now and so far so good. It is not loud and works great.

We had an older Samsung washer and dryer set. The newer one is much quieter than the older one. Our old one died after 4 cross country moves over 7 years. We were surprised it lasted as long as it did under those conditions. I hope this one can do the same. It’s not the fanciest washer, but it’s not basic and it gets the job done. Laundry loads take about 45-50 mins.

I replaced a GE washer that failed after 5 years. At one time it was rated #2 by consumer reports. So I read the reviews online and made my choice that way. The washer cleans better and doesn't damage the load, the features are just what you need. This washer is so much better than a high efficiency top loader and the $150 PG&E rebate is great too.

Overall this washer does it's job. I'm doing laundry every day so I'm pretty happy about the way clothes are cleaned. I don't like the sound at the end of the laundry but you can turn it off. Also, previous model turned on automatically when you turned a knob to select a cycle but this one you have to turn on by pushing a button on a side before you can select a cycle which is annoying. Otherwise its great.
