used washer 6 times since buying 2 weeks ago, you have to get use to it, going from a top loader to a front loader.

Recently our washer died after 9 years of great service. It was a top load with an agitator, about 3.9 cu ft capacity. Not having to deal with an agitator we started looking at other options. After researching for a week or so & reading lots of reviews we concluded that the cleaning action of top load HE machines would be inefficient, atleast for our tastes. On the other hand, front load washing machines have been around for ages & all basically use the same method. Plus the front load design is old enough that all the kinks might've been already resolved. So we started looking at front load washers. We researched most brands & finally settled on Samsung, owing to it being the best front load washer of 2014 as rated by JD Power & Associates. Narrowed it down to 2 models of which this particular model won hands down due to the following - Capacity - Number of cycles - Allergen cycle - Child lock - Ability to override presets(within reason) - Price - Color What we liked so far - Well thought out cycles make it a breeze to do various kinds of laundry - Tested most cycles & the washer performs better than our previous model - Child lock, which is good if u have a toddler in the house. It stays on even after the machine is turned off & turned back on. - Allergen cycle is good if you have folks with skin allergies in the house - King size comforter fits easily & washes well - The spin cycle removes a lot of water reducing drying time - This washer is very quiet for the amount of work it does, it's practically silent. - Add a garment feature is very nice to have in a front load washer - We used to do about 5 loads a week & are already down to 3 loads owing to it's capacity. - Uses less liquid detergent, as opposed to what is recommended by detergent manufacturer - Love the MyCycle option where you can program your routine cycle for easy access - Like how most presets can be overridden, although the choices can be limited depending on the cycle chosen What we don't like - Very small items like baby socks get stuck between the door & gasket. This is a common issue in front load washers & not just this particular model - Water pools a bit in the dispenser - The metallic rim around the door smudges easily, minor cosmetic thing though For those looking to buy, couple of considerations - May not fit in older apartments washer/dryer closets. Measure your space & leave room at the back for connections - If you have issues with bending low to reach inside the washer, this unit might be a hassle to deal with. Maybe not so much with a pedestal, but make sure to check in store - The tub is deep, you really have to sit down to reach all the way inside Best buy kept up with their price match policy & gave us a very good deal. The store associate was very helpful. On delivery we noticed some dings on the unit, called BestBuy & they resolved it to our satisfaction. We purchased this set from the same best buy we got out previous set from & couldn't be more pleased with our purchase. Highly recommend this unit & it's matching dryer.
