I own 6 Samsung televisions and this by far is the worst of the bunch. This is actually making me consider switching to another brand in the future. Using the TV is so slow. Just interacting with the TV feels like using an old windows 95 computer when only 32MB of RAM was installed. I'm not sure if it is hardware or software related, but the user experience is terrible - and this model is one of my newer samsung models in my house. The biggest problem i have is the TV OVERHEATING. It generates an unGodly amount of heat and is hot to the touch. This is so hot after 5 minutes of use that it seems it could be a safety concern. I called Samsung and they told me i'm out of luck because this is out of warranty. There is something drastically wrong with this model.

It looks nice, but the TV broke after 6 mos. Under warranty so they sent someone out to replace the entire motherboard (would have been cheaper to just replace the TV).

Lot of deep cuts on the screen I thought in the beginning I would get over it. Also I purchase the one connect and the remote and tv stand on line.not a happy camper.

Best on the market even now. Js 9000 might offer slightly more but not near enough for price difference. Screen size and flat screen were perfect. Oled has burn in and cannot be left on for long. Oled picture is slightly better depending on model but burn in and cost make it not worth it. We paired our js 8500 with Apple TV and a good digital tv antennae - so we pay $0 a month for tv. We watch basic cable and then use a family members' timewarner login for ESPN and other apps. Finally we look online and can find any show for free. So happy do buy this!

I love samsung tvs that being said this TV is pretty good suhd picture is amazing took me a good 4 weeks to get used to the way the picture looks different than regular 1080 i love it now .xbox one looks amazing getthe chocolate hdmis. now the bad the surrounding metal besle gets pretty warm I put a fan behind the tv no more getting really warm, and my second problem is that comcast when connected from a optical cable sound goes out for between 10 and 30 seconds randomly all the time if you wanna fix problem run your cable with a hdmi cord to your surround sound for cable takes care of problem .other than that tv is expensive but worth it

I bought this TV after I had returned the Sony 49" 4k TV.. The picture is light years ahead of the Sony Bravia XBR.. It is way brighter, and the black levels are amazing! I would recommend this TV for Gaming on Xbox One or PS4. I also bought the Samsung 3d Blu-ray Player that up converts to 4k, I can say that is a worthwhile investment. While the TV will up convert as well it seems to do a better job for me!

It is an awesome TV Samsung hit it on the head with ths SUHD and the fact that the remote can control DIRECTV directly without any other remote and my playstation 4 and the sound bar that I got with it

Samsung JS 8500 48": Bought this TV mainly for watching satellite and Blu Ray movies. The nano crystals, Samsung's version of quantum dot technology, makes it state of the art for 2015 4k TV's. It was easy to assemble out of the box, and has a handy plug box for all the connecters that sits apart from the set making plug changes a breeze. Beyond amazing in contrast and color to near 4K. Cannot wait for Dish Network to come with it's 4K receiver this Summer. An amazingly powerful TV, we had to turn the brightness and backlight down just to keep from burning our eyes. Once done with that the picture quality is beyond awesome. The colors are the most "complete" we have ever seen on a TV. Totally saturated spot on. Watching straight Blu Ray disks once again upconverts to near 4K quality, and with the 240hz refresh rate adds a dimension that is jaw dropping. If you are into sports, there is very little in the way of motion blur as compared to our 2006 1080P 60hz set. Much easier to clearly follow the game you're watching. Can't go wrong on this set. Another reviewer mentioned issues with 3D. Haven't tried that yet, however 3D is not that important to us.

Bought this tv after having my Sony Bravia for 8 years. I figured the technology has to have been upgraded and wow! What a picture on this tv it's amazing after some time tweaking and testing different settings I got the best picture for me! Very bright sharp and colorful I'm also a gamer my xbox one looks amazing I'm playing even more because of this tv. I also bought this one over the Sony because of the input lag is better just put it in game mode and your set. Very nice tv hope I get 8 years out of it like my Sony

The colors & resolution make for a amazing picture!! Very thin & pretty light with good sound & i love the smart tv feature! Netflix is best. Also set it up with audioquest carbon cables which do make a difference. They are abit expensive but if you are buying a premium tv like this definetly invest in the cables.. This 48 inch is in my bedroom & fits perfect :-)

I enjoy using this TV to watch HD music videos and blu ray concerts. All my friends came visit me were wowed by the picture qualities. It does freeze sometimes but i think this happens all the time with electronics. The receiver sometimes doesn't seems to receive the signals from the remote well.

I was looking for a nice tv and nothing really expensive so, I decided to buy another Samsung tv and I saw the adds for this particular tv and I went to the store to see it and I bought it.... When home set the tv and I was so impressed with the graphics the sharp images and the best thing was when I played PS4 on it totally amazing worth the money so happy with this tv.... Thanks Samsung

Never got the time to write a review till now. I still use this TV today and is still working like a champ. There have never been any problems with this tv so far and the size is good. Samsung TV's are my go to and are very top notch quality and technology.

After much research I finally decided to move from the Sony brand to Samsung. I purchased the UN48JS8500FXZA model last week and installed it a couple of days ago. Pretty much everything I read about 4K TV’s and their pros and cons were accurate. Watching HD content on this 4K TV does not look at good as it did on my 8 year old Sony 1080P TV’s. I can accept this for now as hopefully everyone was correct in that there will be many more 4K broadcasts in the upcoming months and years. One of the definite cons is the audio output. I contacted Samsung before the purchase to verify that the audio outputs were variable so that I could control the volume of my Bose Solo 15 base speakers. Samsung support said the audio output was variable but it is not. Luckily I was able to program my DTV remote to control the Bose volume but have to switch the slider switch from DTV to AV then back. Over all I thing that I will be happy with the switch especially when there is more 4K source available.

Great picture. However the volume quality is not always great with the devices I have hooked up to it.

Tv came with a broken ethernet port right out of the box. Samsung support has been horrible to deal with. In addition to this the tv only supports 2d -> 3d conversion, SBS and O/U 3d modes. The only place you find that kind of content is pirated movies and youtube for the most part. Samsung insist that this tv does indeed support blue ray 3d format. I have yet to successfully prove that theory. In case you are wondering. The built in netflix app does not support 3D playback. They have also stripped down other 3d formats from this tv. such as checkboard format and a few others. Unless you really enjoy watching the super limited side by side or over under 3d videos on you tube. Id skip this tv.
