I have owned this TV for 23 months. Up until yesterday it has been a great TV for its class/price and I would rate it at 5 stars. However, yesterday the screen went blank, still had sound, and the TV started turning off and on every 5 seconds. The remote control would do nothing but turn the TV off/on, but the TV still cycles on and off every 5 seconds automatically. Same results pushing the power button on the TV. The screen/LED panel is backlit but blank. Can't see anything, not event the home screen/menu. Cannot channel up or down or adjust sound up/down. Unplugging the TV and power reset for 60 seconds does not fix the issue.
I found on the Samsung Support site this issue does not only effect the 8000 series, but other Samsung series as well. The most likely cause is a bad board. Due to the lower end price of this TV and that it is out of warranty, it is not cost effective (parts, labor, and hassle) to try and repair.
I still like Samsung brand electronics and do realize after researching that ALL TV manufactures, will have a percentage of defects. I guess it is a roll of the dice. I have had good results with Samsung TV's in the past and have a 7 and 12 year old TV's still working like a champ. Now, based on the positive review to negative review ratio, I'm willing to give this TV another chance, but opted for the 7000 series with a bigger screen for the same price as the 8000. Plus, the good to bad review ratio is even better for the 7000 series. We Shall See how long this one works! If it fails, this will be my last Samsung TV and I will no longer recommend this brand TV.

Bright blue line on screen

I have only used the TV for 2 weeks and not heavily used, and a bright blue line appeared going down the entire screen. To me it is unacceptable having this issue and worrying about another issue happening with a replacement.
Before the defect, the screen looked great and clear. I would have given a better review if this didn't happened.
