Way too much screen Judder for Samsung

We recently purchased this TV at Best Buy as an open box item. The price was too good to pass up and they certified it that nothing was wrong with it. From day one there was a terrible screen judder (skipping) when watching certain things. It didn't matter if it was streaming Netflix or watching from a cable box, it was terrible! I have tried adjusting the settings and it did help, but there is no way to totally eliminate this annoyance. I called the Geek squad but they claim that they have never heard of this issue, so I did some research online and found that there are many complaints about this issue. Most people ultimately decided to return the TV, (which is what I am doing) If it were not for the judder, This would be a 5 star rated TV, the picture quality is excellent, (I am upgrading from plasma). The speakers are terrible for watching cable TV, but sounds much better when streaming. Samsung missed the boat on this one. This is the first Samsung I have owned and it will be my last.

This TV lasted only 4 years and 2 months before it developed a dark, vertical shadow in the middle of the screen. There’s nothing that can be done according to Samsung. Very disappointed.

    Good picture and sound, but

The setup was tedious using the remote. I regret that I didn't use the option to install an app on my phone to assist with the setup. My main complaint was that it was supposed to be a smart TV with an internet browser. A browser should mean that I can go to foxnews.com and play the videos on their site. However there was MALWARE in the Samsung browser that rendered it useless. The tech support guy had no solution. He said that the browser has limited memory and that I could try to find a news app. However, Fox News doesn't have a smart TV app. On the plus side, the sound was good and the picture looked good from all angles. The feet look adequate, but they are plastic.

Great video, poor sound level control

This was a replacement under a Best Buy contract for a four and a half year old Samsung 6350 which failed. The picture is quite good but the sound varies sometimes considerably between channels and even during a program. I have the auto sound level turned on but it does little good. I have to change the volume level as much as three numbers on the scale during a news program when they switch to weather and back. I have changed volume level as much as six units in a day. I have upgraded to a DirecTV receiver that supports 4K as suggested. On my old model the auto volume level feature worked fine. Definitely not on par with the one it replaced.

Everything works fine except some features are greyed out and not available, but hopefully a software update will fix that, hopefully. The display looks good and the fast motions are good with decent detail. It does, however, have the 'soap opera effect', but I don't really mind that so much as some people do. The sound from the built-in speakers is OK, but the optical audio is pretty good. I don't like the way Samsung did the component video hardware interface, but HDMI works well. The "expert" picture settings are a bit limited in range and strength, but still usable. Hopefully a software update helps that. It's a good deal for the money though.

    Sudden Sparks and Smoke

I bought this TV in 2018 with the thought that Samsung makes durable TVs that won’t break or cause and problems. I was 100% satisfied with my purchase until one day I grabbed the remote and turned it on. The TV sudden threw sparks and started smoking from the bottom back side. I thought it was the outlet at first but other devices that I tested worked perfectly fine. The TV no longer turns on whatsoever. Because I am out of the warranty, a repair costs about $400. Better off getting a brand new Sony TV instead.

The picture is gorgeous. The smart TV functions and user interface were poor and got in the way more than they assisted. Ended up hooking up a Roku Box instead of using the in television setup. While the picture was gorgeous, the settings were somewhat limited compared to previous Samsung TV's I've owned which made it harder to watch non-4k programming. The sound is absolute garbage. Couldn't understand anything anybody was saying. Again had less audio settings than older samsung models. Would have to buy a soundbar to make it useable.

So I just bought this yesterday and quite frankly I am disappointed. I bought Amazon 4K Firestick last month for when I eventually bought a new TV. I had a 13 year old 1080P Sony Bravia that looked great that died on me 2 days ago. I really didn't have money just laying around to buy a new TV, but scrounged up what I could, and even sold a few things just to buy this TV because were completely out of having anything to watch other than on our phones. In any case, I was excited to see the 4K content from the firestick, but when I tried to I would get a message that the HDMI ports are not HDCP 2.2 on the TV so it won't play the content. I tried using the amazon prime app from the TV hub, (Which I hated), but the streaming quality was horrible. It was very grainy. I tried from an xbox and it looked great. The other problem I have is the picture quality is really not great. Depending on what setting I use it will either look washed out, dull or over saturated. I don't have the money to return it and pay the difference for a better model. Again, let me emphasize how incredibly disappointed I am with this TV and the money I WASTED on it.

    Unimpressive upscaling with severe artifacting.

I have a house full (7) of Samsung TVs. Most are 8500 series, and one LN52A750 in my family room, which for an 11 year old TV, is still far superior to much of the new junk being produced now. On 10/12/2018, I purchased this 50" 7100 series TV for my 82 y.o. mother to replace her ancient 2nd generation 32' Sony XBR which finally died. The reviews on this new Sammy were good, and the Best Buy displays are deceptive: offering rich and detailed (read oversaturated sensationalist beaches, nature pics, flashy cars, etc.) content on the $1200.00+ TVs, and nothing more than a text in colored boxes Powerpoint presentation on the "lower end" TVs (this was $450.00). i gambled, and lost when the sales associate told me he could not change the input of the display model to reveal anything relevant to an actual viewing experience. As an OTA user who dropped the $200.00 per month Comcast experience, this TV is garbage at upscaling a SD broadcast signal. It will play .mkv, mp4, etc. and other high resolution files from my 20tb basement media server adequately: merely adequately, but is incapable of rendering anything other than "Blur-O-Vision" with an over the air signal. I'll probably end up returning this, it is junk, and my 11 y.o. LN52A750 is undeniably superior. Very disappointed, particularly as this was a gift for my mother, which turned out to be an embarrassment. Hours of calibration didn't help with the horrible artifacting. This TV is junk. .

I bought this TV over a Toshiba because I THOUGHT the quality of a Samsung superseded one of a Toshiba. Boy was I wrong. My last two TVs with Samsung has been extremely disappointing. This TV in particular, has a couple issues 1) with the volume and 2) sudden "judder". The volume will all of sudden go out. The picture continues but all of a sudden I cannot hear anything. This is with both cable and streaming. I would then have to turn off and then turn back on my TV. The second issue is when I'm watching cable, all of sudden, there will be loud "judder". Again the picture keeps rolling but there a loud judder that can only be solved if I turn off the TV and turn it back on. One time I had to unplug from my outlet in order to solve the TV. This is the last time I purchase a Samsung and I will not be recommending any Samsungs to my friends/family.
