Knowing the state of customer service these days (you know, hours on end trying to wait for a human), and that the missus would be unhappy without a TV, I had to do some quick research to find out a TV we could get the next day. Settled on this TV since a)it was on sale and b) the reviews seemed pretty good. Went to our neighborhood BB (patronize local!) where after waiting for a while, a friendly BB salesman located the item. Got it home and unpacked. First pro: Very light, compared to our plasma behemoth (i think it's about half the weight). Second pro: Set up was incredibly easy; hooked up blu ray player, streaming device, wired Ethernet, Third pro: Visually seemed very nice, although us older people may not be able to perceive the fine distinctions between HD, HDR etc. Fourth Pro: There are hundreds of channels available through the Samsung Plus "App",. Very excited personally about the music channels and the KMovie channels. Now the cons: First Con: The sound is terrible, compared to our old plasma TV. Eventually discovered the "Amplify" setting which seems to help with dialogue. Second Con: Consulting the E-manual is a pain. It's only available on the TV. One would think Samsung would be aware of the aging of our societies and make an effort to have a downloadable manual available. What happens if there is a problem with viewing the TV? Third con: Related to the above, the channel guide text is very small, because a third of the space is given over to a preview, commercial, and distraction. Fourth con: As is common with Samsung on all its products, there are bloatware apps that cannot be removed, and even though technically it can be moved, I couldn't figure it out. Fifth con: Only 2 HDMI inputs (one is eARC), an optical, and a USB slot. So I now have to figure out a HDMI switch and converter to be able to use my gaming console, Moreover, the HDMI input other than the eARC is not labeled as to whether it is 1.4/2.0/2.2 or whatever. I should have checked on the number of inputs when I did my quick research. Moral of this review: Do detailed research on your replacement TV before heading over to buy.

We appreciate your purchase and detailed feedback on the TU690T TV. I have a few recommendations and troubleshooting tips that may resolve some of the issues you are experiencing.
1) Volume Issues. There are several volume features you can adjust, which may improve your audio experience.
a) Auto Volume automatically adjusts the sound to a certain level when changing channels or switching to another external input. Go to Settings > Sound > Expert Settings > Auto Volume.
b) Adaptive Sound automatically adjusts to a specific volume level while watching TV. The TV analyzes your volume usage history by time period to automatically adjust the volume when you use an app or switch to an external input source. Go to Settings> Sound> Sound Mode> Adaptive Sound.
c)Several Sound Modes are likewise available to meet your personal preferences: Home > Settings > Sound > Sound Mode
Also, some sources have their own volume control, which might need to be set higher. Please check the volume control of the external device (cable box or satellite box, DVD, Blu-ray, etc.) connected to your TV. Also, check the cable connection between an external device and the TV and then try the cable connection again.
2) User Manual. You can download the User Manual and Remote Guide directly from Samsung’s website under ‘Support’ (top right corner) > Manuals & Software > TVs & Home Theater. From there, you can select the TU690T under Crystal UHD TVs > T Model Lineup.
3) Menu Size. To adjust the size of your Channel Guide and Menu, go to Settings> General> Accessibility> Enlarge.
4) Moving or deleting apps. To move the apps on your Menu or to delete them go to Apps> long hold the app of choice> Move or Delete.
5) HDMI Ports. The TU690T HDMI ports both support HDR10+ and Auto Low Latency Mode (Auto Game Mode). The “HDMI In 2” port additionally supports eARC.
