Screen Issues Confirmed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.***PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THIS. I purchased this TV during Cyber Monday for the deal it was on for $999. Great price, great TV, and all I had read previous were good reviews. After placing my order and waiting for it to be ready for pickup, I decided to read some more reviews and all I can say is I wish I had taken them seriously. There was a flashlight effect coming from the left side of the screen and some from the bottom whenever the screen would be dark, like in menus. I'm not rating this television lower than 3 because for the price you get amazing quality picture. As someone that has purchased Samsung TV's before, I was pretty disappointed to see the 2 reviewers that mentioned this problem were right. I plan on returning the TV this week and may even switch brands. It seems like Samsung has even lowered the quality of their TV frames as well. You can easily squeeze the sides around the screen. Also, the stand leaves something to be desired with its super flimsy and cheap plastic design. Not the quality I'm used to with Samsung TV frames, stands, and screen quality.

Great picture and value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this TV first open box. Had been certified Geek Squad excellent, but they failed to notice the blue pixel damage during their tests. Returned the TV and got one new in box since the TV was only $150 more after a price reduction the day we bought it! Spoke to the GM again who gave us a deal on the open box and he discounted the new one for us. Great customer service from the Little Rock, AR store! As far as the TV, great picture and the sound was surprisingly good without a sound bar or surround system. I won't be using that as I have a good surround system, but a lot of TVs today don't have that great of sound on them natively. Still finding my way through the various features. Love that it has Amazon Prime Video app built in.

Spend the Extra for the JS8500!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the JS7000 hoping it would have similar performance to the higher end SUHD models. It does not. The edge lighting is a serious issue and black scenes become whited out. There are also serious judder and motion issues. The 4K stuff looks great, but everything else has serious issues. One of the main reasons I purchased it was in the hope that it would be a good choice to take advantage of the HDR opportunities coming up. What I learned after the purchase is that IPS panels do not have the capability to reproduce HDR content under any circumstance. Accordingly, while it will receive the signal, it will never look very good. Please note that the 50 and 60 inch models use a different panel than the 55 and their issues are not as severe but are still present. I exchanged for the JS8500 and could not be more pleased. The picture looks phenomenal regardless of source and can look near OLED quality for half the price. The black levels are very good, contrast phenomenal, motion rate is twice as fast and the 3D works really well. It is a completely different set and if you get it on sale, I cannot recommend it more highly. The should be able to get the 55 inch for $1,500. The extra money is really worth it and this set should last you for years! Do not expect to get the same level of performance from the JS7000. If you can't afford the JS8500, go with the less expensive Sony X850C instead of the JS7000. You will not regret it,

AWESOME!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You just can't beat a SAMSUNG....not only a beautiful picture with strong, sharp, vivid colors, but the reliability SAMSUNG is known for. There are tons of TV's out there, but you will always get the BEST service out of a SAMSUNG! And of course, I'm a big BEST BUY fan!

Not nearly as nice as I was expecting
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, the stand that you have to assemble is very flimsy. With everything tightened as far as possible the screen wobbles slightly if you touch it. It's not at all stable. I'd recommend this TV only if you are going to wallmount. I'm very disappointed at this aspect because my last Samsung TV (over 7 years old) is much sturdier. The picture quality is nice. 4k content via Netflix is impressive and the built in apps are pretty responsive. There is a LOT of light bleed in at the edges of the screen. Again, this is considerably worse in this regard than my 7 year old TV from the same manufacturer. It is a serviceable television but if I could have a do-over I would choose a different TV.

Gorgeous Televison
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have always bought Samsung T.V.s and had to buy a new one after accidentally ruining my screen on my older model plasma. As in the past, Samsung has a great picture, easy set up, and a backlit remote. I am very pleased with my purchase.

Great TV...But
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow! What a picture! But...if you don't like the look of UHD videotape for everything you watch, dumb it down to a lower scan rate (Go to the menu or go online for "Soap Opera Effect" complaints. And...I've had sound drop outs, sometimes frequent, sometimes occasional. I'm hooked up via HDMI and optical sound out, a problem Samsung recognizes. You can download a fix onto a flash drive from their website, which you can then upload (via USB), into your TV...or nag Samsung to send you a USB dongle with the fix installed...which takes two weeks! It upgrades the TV's computer firmware to cope with the issue. But it's still a great TV, especially if you can get it for under a grand.

If you don't need 3D, this is the way to go 4K
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I was interested in a 4K with 3D. I went to look at another Samsung that had it, but found this TV as an open box item. I decided that I couldn't pass up the deal, so I gave up the 3D option and I haven't really missed it. The picture is great and the set up was quick and easy. As others have mentioned, there is a slight dip in picture with fast moving sports shots, but not anything that would keep me from recommending this TV. I was going for a 48" but ended up with this 55" and it's awesome.

Would not buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tv is amazing as far as picture and sound quality are concerned. However I've experienced horrible clouding issues on the tv screen itself. When the screen is black while powering on my tv I can notice some yellowish color bleeding on the screen. This same problem occurs when I watch Netflix and the screen goes dark. I returned this tv for another one of the exact same kind, went home and fired it up and experienced the same problem. This tv has some sort of malfunction in it where color bleeding occurs often making it hard to focus on any movie or tv show I'm watching. So now I have to return this tv as well hoping the next one won't have this problem (which it probably will). If you're looking to purchase this tv consider this review hopefully it help any new buyers. Perhaps choose another brand. This tv is way too expensive for someone to be dealing with this problem. Notice in the pictures the yellowish tint in the corners. The first picture is the first tv I returned and the second picture is the next tv I have to return.

Love It!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We read all the reviews here before we purchased our new TV over a month ago. We had Best Buy deliver and set it up for free. Our salesperson suggested a new HDMI cable for the 2160p, and that was installed. I wonder if the lack of that cable might explain the screen problems that some reviewers have mentioned. We love this TV. The price, on sale, was fantastic. We have absolutely none of the problems that have been reported by others.

Decent TV, poor black levels, some judder
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will begin my review my first stating that I purchased this TV by price-matching it and getting it for $750 after tax. Thus, this TV review is being written as though this is a $750 TV versus the original $1407 after tax price. My first motivation for buying the TV was the fact that it is made by Samsung, it's a SUHD model, and of course the price. Almost 50% off is a steal, after all. Alas, even then it did not meet my expectations. Let me delve into how I reached this conclusion: Upon unboxing the TV, I found the construction of it to be fairly decent. However, I found that there is a decent amount of flex in the plastic chassis around the edges as it is lifted up. This actually led to the TV making cracking and popping noises as the TV was used, due to heat changes. Other than that, the TV has a subtle design that blends well and a decent-looking stand that needs a slightly wider base, though not as wide as some of the Vizio models. Next up was connections: With four HDMI ports, three USB, and an optical out, it has quite enough connections if you want to use the TV as the HDMI splitter versus using a receiver. However, I had issues with the TV receiving a signal from my receiver. I am porting a PS4 through a Denon AVR-2307 CI receiver. I found that the TV would not recognize the source from the receiver. Unplugging the receiver HDMI and replugging it, changing HDMI cords, and using different HDMI ports all failed to get it to display. I actually had to unplug my PS4 from the receiver, plug it directly into the TV, unplug it and plug it back to the receiver, then plug the receiver back into the TV in order to get it to display. If I turned off the TV, I had to repeat this whole procedure. Plugging the HDMI port into the TV and running the optical cable to the receiver resulted in an image and no sound, even upon changing the TV settings to use the optical out. I'm unsure if this was a firmware issue, but it was definitely frustrating. Image: When it came to bright images, this TV did quite well. As mentioned previously, the source was a PS4 through a 1080P receiver and it looked great. The colors were vibrant, there was no hazing, and the recommended calibration settings from Rtings brought it to an even higher level of excellence. Then I went for darker movies, using the Ferris wheel night scene in Divergence. Here the TV failed spectacularly. The scene includes a part where the moon is surrounded by the dark night sky. Except the sky was not black, it was gray and the moon was surrounded by minor blooming. Other dark scenes also proved to be dark grey where it should have been black. Upon checking the review on Rtings, I found that it also found poor black levels and black uniformity, with a Std deviation of 2.968%. Being that I am quite picky when it comes to black levels, and having seen the impressive performance of the JS8500 and JS9000 (the JU7100 also has some issues with blooming and poor dark levels, though not nearly as bad as the JS7000 model), I was quite underwhelmed. There was also issues with judder, as this model does not have 24p support. While the judder is consistent, it is still noticeable in many cases. An average viewer may not notice it though. So, there you have it. An IPS panel that results in low contrast and poor blacks, a noisy plastic frame, and connectivity issues (for myself; I would consider this to be a single-case issue).

Great 4K introduction
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV has an amazing picture and has all the built-in apps you will need. The 1080p and 720p up-conversion done on the fly by this TV is immaculate. Sports mode is great for your sports needs and can be changed by pressing a remote button. I highly recommend this TV to anyone looking to get into the 4K lifestyle. More and more content is becoming available everyday.
