Excellent tv for the price, and would recommend
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second Samsung TV, and I love it! Great color and clarity I have come to expect from Samsung. Easy to set up- note-when assembling the legs, put the leg into the TV and THEN put in the screws. I tried the other way and could not get the screws to go in. The only reason I did not give it a 5, is the remote. The remote, in my opinion, is a joke!! It is too small and, I think, not user friendly at all. I had to call Best Buy to get someone to help me with it. Best Buy has the best people anywhere! Still, I should not have had to do that.

TV comes with built in Push advertising...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picture quality is great! However... The TV App bar has a permanent App that pushes advertising for paid programming. I contacted customer support who tried to convince me that this was a "feature". Eventually they told me the App cannot be deleted and can not be removed from the App bar. Instead, they had me lock the App so it doesn't display the advertizing. I now have an App with a padlock on it. Also, after approximately 6 months of use the remote started having issues. TV would power on and nothing else worked. We were told by Samsung tech support to to reset TV by pulling plug and then after the TV powered back on, pair the remote. This would work for a few days and the issue would reoccur. After 4 months and multiple chat sessions wit Samsung support we received a replacement remote. This new remote also had the same intermittent issues. Two months later Samsung finally agreed to sent a repair tech out. The tech replaced a couple modules, so time will tell if this is the fix. The tech also indicated the remote powered on the TV via IR and all other applications worked via a bluetooth connection that was very sensitive. He also mentioned there was an IR only remote available from Samsung if we ever need a replacement. If you have a Roku device, you might want to keep it for this TV. Roku has significantly more apps available than Samsung. Many of the smaller channels we used to watch via Roku were unavailable on the Samsung. Samsung blamed the app developers. The App developers are blaming Samsung for not allowing their apps on the Samsung list. All in all, spent a lot of money and should have gone with a different brand.

Huge memory issue
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was good for the first 2 years. Now it has a memory problem and internet problem. Everyday i have to clear the memory and cache just so I can open apps, otherwise they will freeze when I launch them. Very frusterating. Other than that, sound is good enough for TV stereo, colors are vibrant, and the size is perfect.

Not a long lasting TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Started out good but, I got this TV December 2019, and in 2024 it decided to randomly become staticky. Sound quality is still good but the image is like watching a 3D movie without the 3D glasses. It is very annoying that things aren’t made to last anymore.

Would be a 5 only if..
Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It looks great. Love the menu set up and it’s faster than I expected. Unfortunately two things keep happening: 1) it disconnects from the sound bar so I need to keep setting that up and 2) suddenly 6 months in it randomly disconnects from the internet. And that has been very frustrating. If that continues, we may need to switch back to Fire and this smart tv is basically dumb and could be scored a two.

second review, they deleted my first
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I posted a review of this TV a few days ago and its still not up which means they deleted it since I didnt have nice things to say about this TV. But customers need to hear the truth. Firstly, the VRR (variable refresh rate tech) is a lie. It does not, I repeat VRR Freesync over HDMI DOES NOT currently work!!! I tested this with a Radeon VII and there was extreme stutter and tearing in ALL my games. As for the Xbox, which has FreeSync, most Xbox games don't currently utilize FreeSync. This TV is capable of 120Hz which the Xbox is not even capable of keeping up with. Out of all the games I played, only TWO were playable at 120 frames per second, which is what 120Hz is used for. For 99% of games you play, you'll have to bug down to 60Hz, therefore paying premium for 120Hz is a complete waste of money since FreeSync cannot be utilized. So since the VRR on this TV is useless, it becomes a regular 4K UHD TV which you can get for much cheaper than this, say $600 then spend the extra $300 on a gaming console or upgrade for your PC. If BestBuy keeps taking this down Im just going to keep posting it people have a right to not be RIPPED OFF buy a QLED instead

Posted .Hi matt,
Your 55inch RU8000 TV does support VRR/Freesync.
Please make sure that your Game Mode is on. If you are connected to a PC, you may have to go to Quick Settings on the home menu bar, and manually turn it on.
If the VRR/Freesync does not work after the Game Mode is on, then you may have to check the resolution that your PC or XBOX outputs. Below are the supported resolutions for VRR/freesync
1920x1080p@120Hz (16:9)
3840x2160p@120Hz (16:9)
4096x2160p@120Hz (256:135)
I hope these tips help you enjoy your RU8000 TV better.

Samsung squealer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My first complaint is that the remote WILL fall off every surface it’s on. It’s not shaped efficiently. Secondly, the tv has a tendency to kick me off apps. It’s not my wifi or one specific application, either. It just force closes. It’s rare but annoying. Thirdly, it squeals. After a year of using it, it started squealing in the back where the power cord attaches. My fourth and final complaint is that even with regular maintenance, it still went out. For a few days it had a hard time starting with the remote. Today I came home on my lunch to find the TV mysteriously powered on. When I returned 4 hours later, the tv wouldn’t power on at all. The red light is on and it’s still squealing though!

Never buy open box electronics.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased an open box tv and was assured that it had been checked and everything was fine. We get it home not only did the tv not have the screws to attach the stand, the manual but it wouldn't come on. Just don't buy, there's no accountability or quality assurance.
