I wouldn't use it for a home theater, but it's a great bedroom tv. Much better then an M series, nano anything or 5 series.

Besides the Brightness adjustment you seemed to have already tried under Home > Settings > Picture > Expert Settings, this model features Eco Sensor to adjust TV brightness automatically by measuring the light in your room and optimizing brightness to reduce power consumption.
If you want to turn this off, go to > Settings > General > Eco Solution > Ambient Light Detection
• If the screen is too dark while you are watching TV in a dark environment, it may be due to the Ambient Light
• Detection function.
• The eco sensor is located at the bottom of the TV. Do not block the sensor with any object as doing so can decrease picture brightness

I had purchased the 2 year Geek Squad protection for it and an a month before the protection ran out the TV had a Panel issue and Best Buy tried to fix it first and wasn’t able to so they replaced the TV for me and offered me the Samsung Q6FN from last year. I chose to pay a little more and get this Full-array Q70. I’m stoked to have this new TV and the picture is far more superior to the KS8000 I had. You can absolutely see the difference in the new full array panel on this TV and the smart features are much smoother. The blacks almost rival that of an OLED. This TV gets plenty bright enough for most people’s needs. The color is unmatched! This TV is very versatile and has great video game play features. HDR looks phenomenal when streaming Netflix or Amazon Prime. If your in the market for an excellent TV that has top of the line features but you don’t want to break the bank than I highly recommend this TV. Samsung has always seemed to make a very solid product and I’ve used their TV’s for over 10 years and will continue to do so.
