Remote control does not change volume
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The remote control volume does not work. It is doing some other "smart" things but not volume control. After quick search online on samsung web site, I discovered 5 pages of unsatisfied customers, asking same question, how to fix the remote. Lots of advises, reset, reconnect, none worked for me. But what surprised me, there are ZERO answers from Samsung support team. Samsung may got too big and famous at this moment to care about customers with defective products. I think I made a mistake buying a TV from Samsung.

Disappointing picture quality.
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very disappointed in picture quality even after paying extra for home calibration. All of our other TV that were cheaper in price have substantially better picture quality. Should have returned it.

Very Good but could improve
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best Buy won't publish my official review of this product, so this is my attempt to dumb it down a bit and hopefully this version is posted. Transitioning from an 11-year old 42" plasma TV to the 55" Q80. Considered OLED, QLED and LED in my search. I wanted a good picture that can be viewed from angles up to 45 degrees without spending a ton of money and without fear of image retention based on my current household viewing habits. My subjective grades are below. Overall Impression (B): I love the 4K content picture, the viewing angles and the remote. Improvements can be made in reducing wasted real-estate on menus, expanding the app availability, and creating resources for learning how to enhance picture settings by source or symptom. If you're scared of OLED burn-in yet want a great picture, then I think this TV is a great alternative in the current market. ---D E T A I L S --- Viewing angles (A): The angles are just as good as my plasma, and much better than the older QLED's as well as other LED's that I've seen in the store. 4K content (A-): Not as nice as an OLED, but impressive nonetheless. I'm very happy with the blacks, brightness, contrast and colors. I need to better understand how to change the settings to accommodate for fast movement. Remote (B+): The remote is simple and great. Takes a little time to adjust to the design of the volume button, as it's a lever rather than depress button. Those struggling with finger sensation may have trouble with this remote. Audio (B): I'm not an audiophile, but the sound seems fine to me. I wish it would channel more audio towards the front, as with most TV's, the sound carries too much to the side and may annoy those in an adjacent room. Apps (B-): Many apps available; however, I'm disappointed that I cannot get the same apps on my Q80 as I can with my Amazon Fire TV. I was hoping to make the Fire TV obsolete, but that's not the case as I don't see apps such as TruTV, Bravo and others on the Q80. Prime Video and Netflix are available, but that only solves half my Fire TV use cases. Value (C+): I have some reasonably amusing comments to share but this may be one reason why my official post was not approved. Sorry, I cannot share more details here. Boo. Non-4k content (C+): Whether I'm trying to watch from connected cable box, Amazon Fire TV or smart tv app, I'm really struggling with the picture settings. I haven't solved this yet, and no idea when I should set automotion to auto/off/custom as well as change other settings. I find myself turning things on/off quite often, based on the show and source. Examples: (1) NBA games via cable box, the faces are occasionally blurry and the picture struggles with players in bright uniforms on a light-colored court. Judder and/or pixelation seems apparent. (2) Using the Spectrum cable app on the tv may struggle more than watching through the cable box. The picture stalls/hesitates on some channels. Some channels are worse than others. The router is only 2' from the TV. Adjusting Picture Modes (D): Some menus take up far too much real estate (1/2 to 2/3 of the screen), so testing different settings is nearly impossible to measure real-time. Also, I need to better understand why the brightness and other settings don't seem to do much and/or are not available for some modes. Is it competing with other settings?

Very Short Life Span
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We received this TV on January 6th 2020, and it died on March 28th 2021. Because it was more than a year, there was no warranty from Samsung or Best Buy. Not the kind of life span we were expecting at all.

nice tv but
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nice TV but the first one I got the screen was scratched up, I didn't notice it until I looked at it from the side. Replaced it three times and all three times they came to me scratched up, brand new out of the box. Talked to the manager about there not being a screen protector on it, he said "that's the way they come". I do not tks so

Best TV ever
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have to admit that I spent several hours looking at all the options and I still experienced some buyers remorse. After spending $2k I wanted the perfect tv and I can finally say I think I found it. I really thought I was going to go with the OLED but after considering pros and cons I really believe the Q80 is the better all around picture. Initially when I brought the tv home, I got it out of the box, set it up and turned it on, and unfortunately the screen or crystals were cracked and it looked like ink blots. So the next day I exchanged the tv and also decided to purchase a sound bar. The sales team were incredibly helpful and patient and explained all the options. I got both the tv and sound bar home and set up and I was very happy but...I was still experiencing buyers remorse because the picture wasn’t what I expected for the money, and on all channels. After playing with the settings I found good combinations and I was feeling better about my tv. I see one of the other reviews that was talking about a problem with settings and a better picture and this is what I originally thought also. Fortunately I made another trip to Best Buy and talked with another sales rep, and we started talking about HDMI cables. I had some of the new “high speed “ cables My provider convinced me were the best. The sales associate explained that the generic cables I had were like trying to talk through a straw vs a megaphone. So I settled on the Audioquest “ocean” cables and after hooking them up, my jaw was on the ground! I am still blown away and can’t believe the difference in picture quality on every channel. So after all my time and research, I can say that I am enjoying every second Of my Samsung Q80 and I strongly suggest a sound bar to enhance the audio...But definitely invest an extra $50 and get a good HDMI cable and enjoy the perfect tv
