Great TV if it didn't have problems

We really would have love it if there wasn't any problems. The 3 D shows Ghosting (that was really annoying), the 2D picture was amazing..But for that kind of money I expect perfect 2D and 3D. So we took it back to the store. We purcahsed several Magnolia TV's 64" and a 60" and they all had the same problems.

    Great Picture...but.....

If you have 2500 extra bucks to spend and want a truly incredible picture, then this TV's for you. I didn't calibrate it and the picture is still awesome out of the box. That being said, 2500 bucks is a lot of dough, so lets get to the cons.... First, this TV is all picture, not much room for sound-you will need a sound bar at least. If you've done your homework, you probably heard that the voice and motion control is more of a gimmick than a replacement for a decent remote. Sound from a movie or my xbox will activate the voice control menu at inopportune times (I just died playing Call of Duty#. Motion Control? You had better be in a well lit room. It comes with two remotes. One is a touch pad like on your lap top...worthless, I don't use it. The other is a standard remote which could have been designed a little better such as more prominent keys for DVR functions. Even with their standard remote you will have difficulty entering a 4 digit channel. Last, but not least, the TV stand is as wide as the TV so you will need an extra long TV stand or wall mounting. So, my fellow TV shoppers, you have to ask yourself some questions... Do you need 3D...why not...I love it #before you plug in that 3D blue ray DVD, note that 3D blue ray does not work in a standard blue ray player...you need a 3D blue ray player...found out the hard way) Um...how many people do you actually Skype? Can you get by with a less expensive model like the 7100...probably, but you will need to calibrate...girlfriend just got one. I've had this TV for 2 months now....would I buy it again? Yes, cuz I had 2500 bucks to burn. Will this TV last?...I sure hope Samsung makes better TV's than refrigerators. Can you hold out any longer for it to go on sale? Use all your willpower!. If not, you now know what to expect. Its still an awesome picture...

I was sold a product that was out of warranty. When I called for service I was told that i need someone to come to my house to repair. When Samsung called me back I was told that the TV is out of warranty. I was sold a broken product and then was told it was out of warranty. I was so frustrated that I never went back to the store to complain. How was I sold an out of warranty product? How was I sold a broken product? I know I bought an open box but open box does not mean broken!! I spent two weeks on the phone with Samsung support.

    Stunning 3D

I have been looking for a new TV for a few months now. As a gamer and avid content streamer I have no use for the smart apps, video camera or 3D, I was simply looking for the best picture I could get in a 60" for under $3K. My researching helped me come to the conclusion that you cant get any of the high end panels without the app/3D/etc. I compared the samsung to the Sony XBR and the Vizio, the Vizio was instantly out and I have to say the Samsung edged the Sony in clarity (I currently own a 46" Sony XBR LED and really like it). So I went with the Samsung and before I left the store I purchased Avatar in 3D. I was never sold on 3D until I loaded up Avatar (on the vivid picture setting) and was blown away. I have finally found a set that will rival the IMAX in picture quality and 3D, the depth and detail is nothing short of amazing. I have since purchased about 12 3D titles and love watching content in the third dimension. Like most people I already have a surround sound so I cant really comment on the built in speakers (they were never turned on) My only complaint about the television, the active glasses are kind of annoying. I dont like the design of the ones that came with it, especially the need to replace the batteries. I have since purchased two aftermarket rechargeable glasses which I have been happy with. Just know that you need compatible SAMSUNG glasses that work with 2011 models and newer, even the samsung brand wont work if they are pre 2011 (not bluetooth). Overall the picture is breathtaking and the edgeless design is fantastic, you wont be sorry with this set.

I fell in love with this tv just by reading the specifications. The micro dimming for shades of black is a huge step for this years model. Watching bluray discs on it is unbelievable. We also use our tv for a lot of first person shooter video games. Let me give you instructions for this real quick. Go to Menu -> system -> general -> Game mode -> On. It took me a day or two to find this setting. ( I don't read instructions) This made the game flawless and nearly zero lag. It slightly decreases the image quality when this mode is on, but not anything to complain about. The built in Smart Hub is crazy fast with the Quad-Core processor. Netflix loads faster on the built-in app in the TV, than on the PS3 or Xbox. Setting up Smart Apps took a little while and might be confusing for a novice (technologically speaking). The remote control it comes with is very neat.I really like the touchpad and scrolling capabilities. Makes browsing the web a breeze, especially if you connect a blu-tooth keyboard and mouse. I can't wait to watch more UFC fights on this bad boy. Also, watching 3D movies and videos is great. Who cares if you have to wear the glasses, if you are gonna complain about it...don't use the feature. Even high-action scenes on the 3D look amazing. Playing video games in 3D in unreal too! Zombies...just saying. The only way for you to get a horrible or sub-par picture quality on this tv is if you have a terrible source. Make sure you have a good blu-ray player or HD cable or satellite box. If you are hooking up a standard definition source to this, then you just wasted roughly $3,000. Get a blu-ray player, good HDMI cable, and make sure to have this hooked up to a good surge protector. I use Monster, but there are less expensive brands out there. I haven't really found anything I am not happy with. I recommend sitting at least 8 ft from the tv for best viewing experience. Just buy it, you won't be sorry.

I have owned a number of LED TVs mostly samsung and a couple LGs here and there and have always thought highly of Samsung. But after going through SO many issues with last years model (es8000) I thought I was through with Samsung. All it took was one visit to best buy to see the picture quality on this set and I was sold. The picutre is absolutely pristine in every way. Colors are vibrant and so crisp and the black levels are deep and very clean. I have yet to notice any clouding or flashlighting with this tv unlike last years model. Besides having a couple times where the remote had just stopped working for a few minutes, it is a hundred times better than last years remote and is very smooth when navigating through the features. Voice recognition and hand gestures are very much improved as well, though I don't use the hand gestures much at all. One other issue I've had is the apps freezing. This has happended a couple times when opening the app and once into it, it would just freeze up and I would have to exit it. I wouldn't necessarily consider that a glitch on the tvs part though. The popular apps such as netflix, hulu, and amazon instant have worked flawlessly which is really all I care about and use most of the time anyways. When browsing the web this thing is lighting fast!! I have found myself using this as my new computer on my down time rather that my 27 inch Mac desktop. I also purchased the samsung wireless keyboard which also works great and so much more convienent than typing with the remote. I am a perfectionist, and overall I could not be happier with this TV. If I had to pick one main downfall it would be that it's a 60 inch. Just seems a little too small for my liking. I will more than likely trade this in for the 65 inch once that is released in the upcoming weeks. I would definitely recommend this set. Great job Samsung!!!

Best 60" SMART TV for the Money

This was a "guilty pleasure" purchase that I made for myself. I wanted a large TV in my master bedroom to watch movies & sports with the wife in the evenings or mornings when feeling lazy. Everything is great on this TV from 3D capabilities, picture quality & colors... only reason for a 4 star instead of 5 is I think it could use a tad more volume (could be the distance from TV to bed) and another HDMI port for connecting other devices. Would I still buy it... YES.

To explain how I got to this purchase, I started looking to replace my movie room TV with the intent of getting the Panasonic VT60. Unfortunately I waited too long, missed out and had to move onto the Samsung F8500 plasma. The picture quality was outstanding, but the TV emitted a buzz that Samsung was unable to fix and stated it was normal. When I can hear it over my stereo, I find that unacceptable. Being a big fan of plasma TVs, I begrudgingly had to settle for an LED. That is where the Samsung F8000 came in. I would have gone with the Sony, but it only came in 55". My observations after a couple days... -Design is phenomenal. Very simple, very modern and clean. - Sound is adequate and acceptable, especially considering how thin it is. I normally use a surround sound system anyway. - Picture quality is very good. Still missing my faster refresh of a plasma, but it is better than I expected. There is plenty of adjustability. Blue Ray viewing is very good. I have noticed some issues with lesser quality video material, such as non-HD channels thru cable box. Viewing angles are very limited in these cases, almost requiring you to be straight on to get good picture without seeing inconsistencies with color and picture quality. But, as long as the signal is in HD, quality and viewing angle are very good. - I haven't had a lot of experience with 3D, but I really haven't been a big fan in the past and didn't really expect much difference with this TV. Now that I've given it a try, I have to admit this was my biggest surprise with the TV. It performed extremely well, now making me think about investing in more 3D Blue Rays. - Considering I still feel like I had to settle on LED and actually had to spend even more, the cost is too high for the overall performance. With that said, I am happy with the purchase and hope the investment lasts for a good amount of time, at least until OLED comes down to reasonable cost levels.

The picture quality is amazing! Great black levels. My previous HDTV was a 52" Sony, the picture on this is much better. I have had my eye on this TV since the Consumer Electronics Show in January. The 3D is near perfect with no noticable ghosting. Be ready to spend a few hours setting up the TV and becomming familiar with the features.

I bought a 60" Samsung LED from the 7000 series with the small silver "x" type stand on the bottom. It would not stand level and the it had flashlighting in all 4 corners. It was horrible and I returned it after 2 days and bought this TV. Stand: This TV has a metal stand that is the length of the TV which is great. The only minor drawback is the height, it sits low, so low that my sound bar almost blocks the lower edge of the screen. A kinect is too tall so it would have to go above. 3D: Tested the 3D with the Hobbit. worked great, glassed connected up on the 1st try and never cut out. Sound: I have it connected to s Samsung 550 sound bar so no comment on this. Remote: I didn't really like it, it needs to be a little bigger and have more buttons. I just keep using my trusty harmony one. Sound and Camera gesture: Haven't tried them out yet.

great TV's that are best in their class

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Samsung makes great TV's that surpass every other manufacturer in their class. I have two Samsung's in my house and I can tell you the image is beautiful. LED is the way to do (LED is similar to LCD its back-lit better so that their are no dark spots on the screen#. This also TV has the ability to directly connect to the internet. I also wanted to add this TV actually has a build in camera. TV's of this class have never been cheaper. One thing that I have found with TV's that its very important to actually look at the TV in person. Now when you look at the TV's, go to a place like Walmart to see them, because many times specialty stores like Best Buy play with the lighting controls on the TV and in the store to skew the image to there advantage. Once you look at the TV simply look and decide which one looks better to you. The next step is to look at the features that are offered with the TV. Here are some offered by this TV: This Samsung comes with Auto Volume which automatically adjusts the volume of the desired channel, lowering the sound output when the modulation signal is high or raising the sound output when the modulation signal is low. This reduces the difference in volume when changing channels. The Auto Volume feature can be set to Normal, Night or Off. As far as outputs most of these TV's will come with more than enough Inputs and Outputs. This TV comes with 4 HDMI Audio/Video In, 1 Ethernet LAN In/Out, 1 RCA Component Audio/Video In and 1 Digital Coaxial Audio Out. Clear Motion Rate #CMR) is another feature that comes with this TV. CMR gives you motion-clarity that can display action-packed movement with superior sharpness, clarity and contrast. With this Smart HDTV there is a full web browser with WiFi built-in apps made for TV. Some of the apps this TV features is Hulu Plus, YouTube, Netflix, Facebook, and Twitter. Browse the web while you watch movies and TV shows, and enjoy TV while you chat with friends and family online, all on one screen with this Samsung. Thank you for reading my review, if you have any questions feel free to email me, I would be happy to help you with any questions you have.

I owned multiple top tvs. I even had the es8000 which is last years model. This f8000 series fixed all the bugs the es8000 had. The picture is even way better. The voice and gesture controls work perfectly. The 3d looks amazing. The sound isn't bad for a thin led tv either. I was I Impressed compared to all the others I've seen. Over all I highly recommend this tv. You won't be disappointed.

I bought this TV to replace my 7 years old Panasonic plasma. Usually I don't wright reviews but this product is a high quality product and a Best Buy customer service is awesome. Setup was so easy, pretty straight forward. I turned the TV on, and I was speechless, I was blown away with a picture quality. The TV connected to my wireless network quickly and the next moment I was able to surf web, stream movies, stream movies from my computer server located in a different room. Awesome. Cons: The sound quality should be little bit better. When TV stands on the arc TV stand, it is raised only 2" from the TV stand surface, which means if you want to place a sound bar a front of the TV, a sound bar 2 1/4" high will cover 1/2" of the screen. Not acceptable. I bought 55" first, than exchange it for 60", than two weeks later price dropped down by $300, Best Buy did a price adjustment, and gave me my $300 refund no question asked. Thank you Best Buy for pleasant experience.

After viewing my brother in law's 8000 series, I had to have one myself. Sports and movies are my thing. Great flexibility on adjusting screen settings. I actually love the "soap opera" effect. This almost makes you think you've got 3D glasses on. Speaking of 3D, not into it. Just not my thing. Internet stuff is good, but not overly fast. Also, I wired directly into my router instead of using the built in wireless and improved my speeds somewhat. Great TV. Pricey as heck, but Samsung TV's are just the best to my eyes. Looking to add a less expensive one to my back porch soon.

Great TV, but found a minor audio issue

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Purchased this TV to mount on my wall above my fireplace mantle. Loved that I can turn off the built in speakers so I can use my Sonos Playbar with Wireless Subwoofer, however after messing around with the wires I discovered that this TV takes the HDMI 5.1 audio signal and downgrades that to simple PCM 2.0 stereo sound out of the Optical output on the TV. This caused my Sonos Playbar to try to estimate bass for the sub. In the end I found something called a "ViewHD Premium HDMI to HDMI + Audio (sPDIF + RAC L/R) Audio Extractor | Converter (New 2013 Model)" that I had to buy from Amazon for around $36.00. I put this just before the HDMI input on the TV and then run another HDMI cable from this box to my TV. Then from the Extrator box I run the Optical cable to my Sonos Playbar. Sound difference was immediately better and richer. So just a heads up for you folks it appears there is some kind of HDMI copyright protection garbage on the Optical audio output on all current HDTVs. If you really want to hear all of the sounds from your added soundbar systems make sure you don't use the Optical out from your TV. You've been fed.
