Do not purchase this tv
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do Not purchase this TV. SO much spending $3k on a samsung 4k smart tv. First purchase this tv back in July 2015. Tv would not auto update firmware. Contacted samsung & was on the phone for an hour. They remotely access my tv & could not get it to update. So I had to get a usb & download the firmware from the website. Then. Tv started shutting off & on. (Please see videos). Some days tv would not come back on for hours. Contacted Samsung & ticket#4133817941-2 was created. Saumsung authorized Golden IN-home service came out & they replaced the motherboard on 1/15/16. Couple days went by Tv now will not respond to directv remote nor will it respond the samsung tv remote to do simple as the volume go up & down. Also to add a menu now pops up & will not go away. So contact Samsung certified technician Golden In home service. Technician came out & he could not resolve the issue so the motherboard was replaced again on 2/1/16 stated he was sent a bad motherboard. Now 2 days later same issue with tv. Contacted Samsung directly for resolution. Vip support stated they only show documented on there system that only a 1 ticket & no notes in regards replacement of a second motherboard. I attempted to provide copies of my work orders that were dated and signed. Vip rep stated not needed per policy it must 2 documented incidents i.e. 2 different work order numbers to consider replacement. I played along and allowed a nee ticket to be created as I was assured that if I had any other issues the next step would be to swap/replace my tv. Samsung dispatched techr from Golden In home service today. Technician claimed could not fine any issues & it was because of directv box remote. Rep suggested that I should replace the directv box & remote because software is not compatible. Keep in mine I have 3 other samsung smarthub 4k products that are connected to directv and do not have issues. Those tv also repond without hesitation. I have switched the directv box in question with my With my other samsung tv's along with the remote. Did not have any issues. TV in question has been disconnected from directv and using the samsung tv remote still has the same issue. So contacted Samsung on the phone has been escalated several times. Rep technician they used replaced the samsung tv remote. Used another smart tv remote of the exact model number and still mo reponse from the tv. Rep stated we have to send another remote to rule it out. So I have 7-14 days for a new remote from samsung. If you ask me clearly I am getting the run around. Warning to all DO NOT PURCHASE SAMSUNG 4k tv.

Amazing picture
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought to replace my older 46 inch Sony Bravia that had inputs starting to fail and wanted an upgrade for the next wave of content despite not much 4K available now. Picture quality is great, hard wired the Ethernet and the smart hub is responsive and works great just as it does on the Samsung blu Rays. Had some audio issues with my soundbar but after a slight upgrade on that ($230) the new soundbar works perfect & problem solved. Recommend getting other Samsung products to complete system for those extra 'frills' - think when you turn on your Samsung blu Ray it automatically changes the input and when you shut it off, it changes it back to the cable input. Overall the best tv I've ever watched anywhere and owned.

Do Not Buy If Plan to Wall Mount
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this Samsung 65" JS8500 4K TV #as well as two other 50" and 55" JS7000 4K TVs# over Black Friday weekend. I explained to the BestBuy salesperson that I wanted to mount it over the fireplace. I was attracted to the TV not only because of the great picture, but also the One Connect box. I would only need a single cable # the One Connect cable# to run from TV through the wall to my built-in AV cabinet left of my fireplace. And any time I wanted to plug/unplug an HDMI device to/from my TV, the One Connect would be right there in my cabinet. I was told by the salesman that it came with a 10' One Connect cable which was plenty to reach my cabinet. But when GeekSquad unpacked the TV to mount, it only had a 6' cable and after contacting Samsung, I learned that for the JS8500 they do NOT even offer a 10' cable... 6'6" is the longest. So I have the One Connect box tie wrapped to the back of my TV. It infuriates me every time I sit down to watch it. I've complained to BestBuy who offered to do absolutely nothing to compensate for misleading me. They did not offer to upgrade me to the JS9000 which HAS a 10' nor did they offer to provide me with four 3 meter Audio Quest 4k HDMI cables and snake them through the wall so I don't have to take down a 65" TV every time I want to connect a new device. The engineers/product managers at Samsung by ONLY offering a short cable were successful in turning the one benefit of having a One Connect box #getting the HDMI parts into your AV cabinet# into nothing but a liability by adding 2 new points of failure #the box AND the cable#. 99% of people buying a 65" TV are expecting to wall mount them making the short cabled One Connect worthless.

Total Junk, Light leaks in corners, remote failed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Total Junk UN65JS8500. Bad light leaks in corners due to the side firing LED technology on the 65" js8500 flat screen. Took one back because of this issue hoping if would be better on a second one. Second one same problem but remote control did not work properly so we could not even get out of the first screen that asked for the language choice. This TV has wasted 3 days of my life and I would have no confidence that it would last over time. Hooked up first one to Xbox Halo and there seemed to be some lag in response time. Any lag in Video Game performance is a real problem. Watched a cable TV movie and the picture was OK in the center but annoying on the edges. At the end of the day this TV is not worth $3499 to $4000. I would not keep it for half that price. We waited for this specific model because it is the latest and greatest 2015 flat screen model from Samsung. If this represents their best flat screen I would not buy anything from them. The 9000 and 9500 JS series are curved screens and we did not want that (nor did we want to pay nearly $6000 for a TV). Called Samsung and sent them a picture of the problem. They sent back a canned reboot process which did nothing. Samsung is not in touch with their quality control and they have no real customer service. After buying 5 or 6 high end Samsung products, the time has come to be rid of them. Extremely frustrating experience and not the quality you would expect for that price. If the JS9500 65" was half the price I would try one of those but so far all I see is expensive garbage here.

Excellent TV - quality is terrible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am now waiting for my fourth replacement TV, first had terrible backlight bleed, second remote failed, third had permanent 3" thick vertical line on screen and Im hoping the fourth is OK since I have wasted 3 weekends so far waiting for delivery and collections. The TV itself is excellent, blacks are very good, colors are awesome and the Tizen operating system is nice (slightly jerky at times) but does the job well. If I had a TV with a screen that did not bleed and a remote that worked I would be very happy with this product.

Operating System!!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As i can see from the reviews no body talked about the TV's software and apps quality. This TV has worst operating system and apps. When you try to open apps its fails and sometimes its not even open. I upgraded latest version operating system it is work couple of times then fails again. then I returned and I got the same one second time. this one also has the same problems but some of apps works better than first one. That is the shame of SAMSUNG. I don't recommend this tv

Not for Sports
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First TV wouldn't start up so it was returned. Second TV has great picture for closeups but is absolutely horrible for watching football, soccer, or basketball. The faces are merely blobs of color with no definition of eyes, etc. Can't read names on jerseys. Front of jerseys have a large fog spot that prevents reading jersey numbers. No such issues with a friend's Sharp. Have liked our other Samsung TV's but this one is going back. Samsung customer "service" is extremely lacking.

Awesome TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setup was not too difficult. Picture is exceptionally clear. Great price when bought on sale during black friday sales. Still getting familiar with the Samsung Remote. Enjoy the connectivity with the smartphone and even my computer

If you don't like the remote.........
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although it is growing on me, I am not a huge fan of the remote - I purchased a second "traditional" remote on line for $16 and I have the best of both worlds. Part number shown below: Genuine Samsung Remote part # AA59-00652A

AVOID EDGE LIT LED TV's
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Been loyal to Samsung for 15 years and have always had a Samsung TV, that being said, I have gone through 3 of these all with horrendous back lighting problems, my 60" 6500 series Samsung is FLAWLESS with the back lighting with a great viewing angle, not these. If manufactures could STOP trying to make these things thinner and put back regular LED backlighting or CFL back-lighting even, all these new backlighting problems on all tv's would not exist 4K is amazing though and will be nice to play 4k blu-rays later this year with the first players and movies coming out soon.

Lemon
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tv was an "Open Box" special. Would not buy another open box special or a Samsung. This may be a great tv if you get lucky and don't get one that does not work, but after spending many hours hooking this up, trying to get it to operate, waiting on hold with Best Buy, talking to their manager and "Samsung" specialist, doing "live chat" with Samsung I give up. Best Buy 'Samsung Specialist" only solution was to bring it back and trade for another tv. If you want the geek squad to come out that will be $100 even if it is defective. I wanted to buy from a brick and mortar store, but there really is no reason to. This tv is going back. Everytime you plug in the "one connect" box the tv goes into an endless cycle of trying to connect to the blue tooth remote. If you disconnect the one connect it stops but it is not possible to watch tv. It also continuosly tried to update software and cycled on and off without success. The only thing we could get was "Netflix" briefly at one point before the remote stopped responding at all. I do not like leaving a negative review, but this experience has been very frustrating and disappointing.

Excellent Picture
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best picture for the money. Did alot of research before purchasing, this was the best 65" 4k tv for under 2k. Only gripe is game mode is very hard to use. To reduce input lag it is recommended to use game mode but it is so buried in sub menu's its such a pain to use. To bad there wasnt a short cut. Overall its not a deal breaker. Picture quality makes up for it. Netflix & Youtube have some 4k to view and blu ray looks great too.

Good entry level
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked this set up at BB late tonight for $1250. A little high but decent. Only thing I don't care for is the panels are not made by Samsung but Taiwan. I'm happy as of now.
