Excellent TV, not quite the service

Bought the TV from Best Buy on 6/14 to be delivered on 6/21. Got a call at 8 AM that the TV has not arrived the warehouse. Was extremely upset that took a day off (hard to request off when you are a doctor) but the delivery had to be rescheduled. I did so, for 6/24, but luckily the driver called at 11 AM that he had the TV! Now, about the TV. Fell in love at first glance. Beautiful picture and decent sound. Had a problem initially with pairing the remote, but worked fine once I reset it. I did have difficulty loading a few Apps like YouTube, Pandora, Vimeo on the TV, but after connective with a Samsung Tech everything resolved, except YouTube. I called another tech, Geek Squad, but no one could resolve it. I decided to exchange the TV for another piece of the same model. Now here is where the problem started. Best Buy could not recognize that the TV was delivered! I had received a call on 6/24 for delivery, but I informed them that I have already received the TV. However, it was still "Out for delivery". I was put on hold multiple times when I called best buy and total call duration was 90 minutes. At the end, he could not resolve anything, and asked me to call back again tomorrow. I am extremely dissatisfied with service from Best Buy and although they are usually good, they have definitely gone downhill over the years. The TV is awesome though. The YouTube app has apparently been a problem in the 8500 series because of some URL problem. I am not sure if exchanging the TV will resolve this, but I will try, once I convince Best Buy that I indeed have the TV! Will follow with an update.

    Alpha omega gaming TV!

This TV is by far the best TV best buy had to offer. When your making the upgrade to 4k you want to go all in and get everything to maximize your 4k experience. To make that possible you need max specs, short and to the point: Full Uhdr ultra high dynamic range 4k 240 motion Samsung or Sony. Samsung is the superior of technology in my opinion, and after purchasing this 8000 series you'll know why. The curve makes it so no matter where in the house you sit, you feel like you have a good view in the house which is good when you have guest. The picture is phenomenal in dynamic setting, the blacks are so vivid that scary movies like the ring frighten you even more. Live sports and TV makes you feel like you are watching these people through a window. I own all the game systems so my gaming experience was at the top of my list and let's just say I couldn't keep track of the amount of times I said "ahh" or "cool." Playing fallout 4 made me feel like I was in the Commonwealth myself hunting Raiders and scavenging. It also makes it easy connecting your cables as they no longer go to the back of the TV but to a mini receiver that comes with the TV called the one connecter. It Instantly recognizes the ps4, direct TV etc and other devices so you know which input is which. You'll need a soundbar if you have a open living room the sound is OK but if your paying this much and you don't have a sound bar, like I said maximize your 4k experience and get one on black Friday if you can wait. The remote itself has Voice activation, and connects to everything right off the back without setup. Controlled anything that was plugged into the one connector. TV has Bluetooth capability, wireless streaming, phone to TV mirroring, apps, games, the list of what this amazing TV can do goes on. If you can fork out the dough go all in on a tv, this TV is my new baby.

    Excellant Purchase!

I got exactly what I expected when purchasing this television.....awesomeness! I went to the store set on buying a Samsung 4k TV, but the salesman convinced me to try the Sony 4k. He told me that it was a better television, and that I would be very happy with it. Keep in mind that he had a Sony patch on his shirt. The sales people and or Best Buy in general get some kind of incentive for selling Sony because I went into 2 different Best Buy’s and at both stores they were pushing Sony. I digress; when I got the Sony and watched it I did not notice vibrant color like I wanted. Regardless of what the people at Best Buy tell you the picture was not that impressive. I took the Sony back and got the 65" Curved Samsung, and I am so glad that I did. The Samsung is an outstanding TV. The picture is amazing. It is very clear with very vibrant color. Everyone that has seen it has been very impressed. Samsung has also done a great job of improving their smart features. I love how you do not have to stop watching TV to scroll through the smart features, and they incorporate popular channels into the smart hub to allow easy changing of the cable or sat box to something you may want to watch. The only thing that I am not sold on about this TV is the curve. I think it is a gimmick. It does help to see from the side a little, but not enough to pay extra for it over a flat panel. But the picture of this TV is amazing! And ultimately isn't that what you are looking for?.....

    First tv was bad

I got this tv a week after it came out. It looked great in store like they all do but I knew from past experiences that what is being played in the stores are not what you are going to get at home. This tv was replacing a ten year old bulb set. Big step up from my old tv. It was packaged well and setting the tv up on my table was easy. Had two spots to choose from to place the legs and went with the outer spot as it would balance the weight better. Registered it and it was manufactured in March so it was one of the first runs of the new tvs. It didn't recognize my comcast cable box at first, even after searching and putting in the model number which it found it still wouldn't. Had to do a firmware update on it before it would recognize. The tv started showing the channels and I flipped through them but noticed the color of the peoples faces were to red or orange. Tv was set to standard picture mode and the gamma settings looked ok. I figured something was wrong but had to leave and I would look at it again when I got back. Well when I got back the tv wouldn't turn on. The red light would just flicker but nothing happened. I unplugged it from the surge protector thinking it could be a bad contact as the surge protector needs to be replaced as its old also and tried the wall. Nothing, still red light just flickered. Great I thought got a lemon. Took it back to the store and they tried it and it just flickered for them also. Had to have one shipped as the store had no more in stock. New set came and setup was easy. This set recognized my box right away, colors on peoples faces were normal and picture looked great. I had researched the tv before but being so new it had few reviews other than professional reviews so I didn't see where others had problems with their set. It wasn't until I had searched for the tv wouldn't turn on that I saw others on the samsung site where people had problems with it doing that in the 55inch or problems with their straight set and not this curved set. Tv has been working great. Picture is excellent and almost life like on some shows. I know 4k tv is not here yet but it makes hd look awesome. Does a great job with picture quality. The remote is ok, its small with not a lot of features like past samsung remotes. Lacks markings and menu you must navigate with the select button and right left and down buttons. Biggest con is the lack of inputs for the tv and you have to use their connect box which just has four hdmi, arc hdmi and digital optical audio out and two usb. No component outputs. One connect mini feels cheap and its light so the cable that you connect it to the tv with will move the box around and any other cables you connect to the box will also move it easy as the unit is so light. Price has since dropped again so they maybe trying to compete with lg. I love the thin bezel on it and the tv itself is thin. No problems with heat from the screen or the back of the unit. Sound from the speakers has been great and no need of having to buy a soundbar. Would buy again.

not a good tv for wide angles

I think it is important to understand what you are buying. Good This TV was easy to setup. It has a breakout box so many of the wires do not extend to the tv itself. Next the Menu is very easy to follow and go where you want. The Remote is a little odd takes getting used to using but works well once you understand it. Curved screen it not a plus or minus hardly notice it once it was set. The TV has Smartthings extend as a free addon is coming. This allows your TV to become a smart hub for your house and allows the Transfer of devices from staples connect and directly connects to Hue Hub. Not all devices from staples will work but most will. Good sound directly from the TV and the TV looks great when setup. Resolution of the screen is great. 4K looks great. With 4k darks look good an color great and even better detail. Not so good: Picture has Jitter. When there is fast action the screen jitters, objects to jump from one location to another. Sports mode is not usable because color becomes very distorted and really can't be corrected. Can be made acceptable but not really nice or true. Color: can be over saturated, This can be corrected but takes time. Contrast: The contrast is so high that blacks become solid and loose detail. You can raise backlight and brightness but this really washes the picture out with little gain in detail. This screen is edge lit which causes a lot of this. With a fair amount of effort you can increase detail a limited amount without loosing color. Upscaling: This is the process of converting low resolution to 4k by digital enhancements. With proper upscaling grain would become less visible and look more film like. when upscaling dvd quality video artifacts or grain become more visible taking away from the picture quality which is not as good as the sony TV. That said the upscale looks tons better than standard video enlarged causing pixelation. Picture quality: I will compare it to my plasma. This screen looks very good if you are in front of it looking directly at it almost as good as the plasma. This screen has more detail than the plasma has. The plasma has better contrast then this screen has. Where this screen really falls short if from side view and upward or downward viewing. I placed this TV where my plasma used to sit above the fireplace on the mantle. This means we look up at the screen and from perpendicular to about 30 degree angles from either side. In the middle the picture looks very good but washes out when looking at it from an angle especially if you are also looking up at the TV. So in this situation it is not the best TV. 3D: This screen has no 3d viewing. they will tell you that 3d is dead and this TV does the 3d without needing 3d. This is not true but that affects only about 1/2 a percent of the movies made. The superior: The TV looks great as a piece of furniture. What I was amazed at is UHD ( consumer Term) content or 4K (manufacturer term). Grant it at 8 feet away you will not be able to see the details but extra color range, greys etc. make the TV picture look great at front viewing and still very good from an angle. Front view colors, contrast etc. almost match the Plasma but the detail is way better. Only better picture is Plasma which consumers are not able to get in sizes greater than 55" size and OLED which cost almost twice as much. Problem there are only a few 4k movies out on disk, fewer on VUDU and a few on NetFlix. Hope this review helps.

Went in to the store for a soundbar but came out with this 65" tv and I couldnt be happier. The tv looks amazing aesthetically and the picture quality is just stunning. It did take a moment to get just the right picture setting and calibrate it to look natural. But hey I'm fine with spending couple hours researching if it means I can enjoy the nice colors and save some bucks. One thing that amazes me a lot is the upscale of this thing. It's like rediscovering your entire movie library all over again. The mmummy, Jurassic Park, Independence day and so or... just looks great. And the best upscale comes when you throw the 1080p content at it. It chews it like a champ and spits out a picture that just cant stop amaze me. But, I know it's 4k and it's HDR so when you get to an actual 4k HDR content - just hold to your seat. It's like watching thinks through the window. And I mean it. The martian looks so good and If you like Guardians of the galaxy... Just wait till you watch it on this thing. Conclusion- It's an amazing TV. Just do your research for calibrating or pay the 230 price tag by geek squad if you have it burning your pocket. Then sit back and enjoy.

    Awesome TV!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Upgraded from a Vizio 1080p 60" TV to this one. We really liked the vizio but we needed a new tv for the living room. After a week or two of research, this TV kept coming out on top. The KU 6300 and 6500 (curved version) were what we were looking at but it only has half the refresh rate and made me worried it wouldn't be able to keep up with sports. This TV has the full refresh rate of 120hz (were talking true refresh rates) and the full gamut of HDR glory. So we pulled the trigger and bought it. It was easy to unbox, and I had it set up and was watching a game in less than 15 mins. The Good: The TV itself looks great, sleek & thin. Watching movies or tv shows in 4k look fantastic. Watching shows shot with HDR look even better, its crazy how good it looks. This TV can go very bright, which is awesome as it can be adjusted depending on if its bright or dim in your room - it makes a big difference in picture quality. The So-so: I didn't call this "the bad" because its not the TVs fault, but there currently is no 4k or HDR programing from cable or satellite providers. I see Direct TV has 3 channels of 4k, but 2 of them are pay per view channels and the 3rd may just show the same scenic views or documentaries that you can get on Netflix. The point being, cable TV's HD channels look about the same on this TV as they do on my Vizio 1080p 60" TV. There might be some channels that look a little better with the 4k up scaling but don't expect much of a viewing improvement from watching HD channels unless you are upgrading from a non HD TV. At first glance, the smart remote looks like it leaves a lot to be desired. There are few buttons and makes you wonder how useful it will really be. After playing with it for a while, it is the best remote in the house! It controls not only the TV, but fully controls the cable box as well and will self detect anything plugged into the TV. Great job Samsung! Bottom Line: If you are in the market for a new TV, and you have the $$ for it, this is the best bang for the buck. If you would like the same TV but with a flat screen, this is the same as the KS8000. You will be very happy with either of these TVs.

This is TV is amazing in a dark room, the picture is clear and the HD is fantastic for movies and sports... This TV has incredibly poor APP selections and the remote is cheap and not backlit. The options for customization are great and the Auto Dim and Auto Sound for night are great.
