Stunning but defective
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this tv and thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. After 3 weeks a 4” line appeared on the left side of tv. Callled Samsung who gave me a claim number. Waited for days and finally the service company said it cant he fixed and needs replacement. Called Samsung and they verified this. Now ive been waiting 4 more days for them to arrange this. Extremely disappointed in the customer service. The NfL season starts tomo abd I have no TV to watch it even thought I spent $2700 on a tv. If I ran my company like this I would be out of business. What a shame a great tv like this get no support from Samsung. There are other brands selling Oled tvs. Buy then instead. Upset in Fla....

Row of dead pixels after 2 days.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TV arrived on Friday. Used on Friday and Saturday with no problem. Came home from work on Sunday and turned on the TV. A horizontal row of dead pixels from edge to edge was on the screen. "Support" had to submit a ticket; someone is supposed to call within 24-48 hours to schedule an appointment to come look at it. Not able to return to Samsung. Very disappointed in TV and quality.

The Q8F combines a billion+ shades of quantum color with our best full array backlighting, Ultra Black Elite and Contrast EliteMax to deliver pristine picture quality. HDR10+ and our powerful Q Engine processing further ensure your content is optimized for 4K clarity, color, and HDR.
It is also designed with several preset picture modes and custom settings, allowing you to adjust images to your liking.
The Dynamic Mode is the brightest among all presets. Standard Mode is ideal for home and regular viewing.
Movie Mode is the closest setting to calibration the way the director intended as it uses less enhancement and will likely result in the truest picture.
In addition, the quality of the image on your screen also depends on your source and connection.
HDMI cables are recommended for optimal HD viewing; and when possible, 4K content will provide the best picture quality.
The quality of your streamed content depends largely on the speed of your internet as most content providers have adaptive streaming that will automatically adjust the image quality based on the network bandwidth.

Still not sure
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly the screen has some odd line discoloration. Can't figure out why and it shows up bad during black sections. I would return it but it's an act of God moving a 65 inch TV. TV constantly wants to turn stuff on UHD which messes up my arc from receiver. Have to change settings every time.

Beautiful TV - Finally LEDs That Show Blacks
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The picture is beautiful. HDR is like looking through a window and this QLED gets close to OLED. This is the first LED TV that I have owned that can actually have blacks on screen instead of dark dark greys. It handles reflections really well and HDR+ mode makes SDR content look amazing. This TV gets very bright and once you set it to Movie mode or HDR+ mode and tweak the settings it looks amazing. Very close to OLED, not quite but it is very close. Image quality and 4K upscaling is done very well. Motion is done pretty well when you set them in the low to mid range in the settings. Local dimming seems to do great and Samsung is doing an amazing job at refining the local dimming and motion with this TV. The TV gets very bright, even during the daytime with the sun setting in the window facing the TV. Viewing angles are pretty good even though it is a VA panel, most will be happy with watching it from multiple angles, you only notice it if you are really looking for it at night time. This is the first TV that has ever made me squint in crazy scenes, amazing product and love using it for gaming, streaming, cable and movies. I would also like to thank Samsung and Samsung QA Engineering. Matthew and Khaled did an amazing job addressing some software issues and really helped to improve this TV. Great customer service, support and thank you for listening! You guys really went above and beyond and we all appreciate it. My only complaint is that the power cord is so short, just wish it had another foot or two.

Please know that incorrect or loose connections may cause color problems or a blank screen.
You can run a picture test by following these steps:

Excellent but not perfect
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After extensive hours of research, I purchased the Samsung Q8F and, so far, I feel it's a great choice. I upgraded from the Samsung NU8000, and I also have a Samsung KU 6300. The NU8000 has a very nice picture, and is a good choice for gamers, but the Q8F is by far a superior set. The picture quality with the QLED is much better than the Edge lit NU8000, and it blows away the 6300. I first contemplated purchasing the following sets, and here are my thoughts/reasons why I did not: LG OLED- Amazing picture but can get screen burn-in. At the highest price point, there's no way I'd invest in a TV that gets permanent image burn-in. SONY X900F: Great TV. I like it better than the NU8000. The only issue for me was price point. On sale at Best Buy for $1999.99, just a $200 discount, vs. the $2299.99 Q8F, a superior set, does not justify the $300 savings. If you are thinking of the X900F and it is within a few hundred dollars of the Q8F, pay the difference and you'll be very happy you did. Vizio P series: Nice picture at a great price, but many complaints about the slow and glitchy userface. Reports of it rebooting as you are watching, etc. Pass. TCL 65" 6 series: A lot of people are very happy with this set and rave about the picture quality at a price point under 1k. However, a lot of people also have had banding issues. So, for me, if budget was a factor, the Samsung NU8000 is a better bet when on sale (Best Buy $1299). Samsung Q9: I would love this, and would purchase it but I can't justify the huge price increase over the Q8 when they are fairly close in performance....plus, I am afraid of my wife. A good source to see the benchmarks of these TV's is Rtings.com

Thank you for purchasing the Samsung Q8F QLED Smart TV.
I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing issue with the fluctuating brightness.
It might be due to the ECO Sensor or Motion Lighting features.
ECO Sensor automatically adjusts the brightness level of the TV according to ambient light level, reducing power consumption. If the ECO Sensor has adjusted the screen’s brightness level, you can select Min. Backlight to manually adjust the minimum screen brightness.
If it ever happens again, you may try the following steps:
Go to Settings, and select General settings then ECO Solution.
You will see option of de-select the Ambient Light Detection

Can't Calibrate to Make It Worthwhile
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV is a substantial investment, and I can't calibrate to our liking. Store techs say wait 30 days to calibrate, but by that time, I won't be able to return it. Such a shame, because I think it may be a good tv, but $250 to calibrate is a joke. Shouldn't need to do that.

I am very sorry that your experience with the Q8F TV was less than perfect, and I apologize for the letdown.
Here are a few tips that may help you better enjoy the 4K viewing experience:
1. The TV will upscale as best as possible any content sent to it. The closer your content is to 4K, the better the image will look on the screen.
2. HDMI cables are recommended for optimal HD viewing.
3. The TV also offers custom settings, allowing you to adjust images to your preference.
4. The quality of streaming content depends largely on the speed of your internet, as most content providers have adaptive streaming that would automatically adjust the image quality based on the network bandwidth.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us.
Our 2018 Q8F TV uses a Full Array Backlight that comes with the benefit of Local Dimming.
