Poor software, many bugs
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This could be an amazing panel if they would have bothered to provide stable software that actually performs the basic functions required. 2 firmware updates in 3 weeks, each creating more issues than it solved. If nothing changes this TV will be going back.

Disappointed
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this tv in August 2019 and within 10 months all of the HDMI ports stopped working. I tried calling Best Buy and they told me I need to contact Samsung. I called Samsung and they told me my 1 year warranty ran out in March 2020. It will cost me $500 to have an authorized Samsung repair company to come to my house to replace the 4 HDMI ports. I definitely thought that a $2,100 TV would last longer than 10 months in perfect working condition. I have a Sony tv that has been working for over 10 years and needless to say, I will not be purchasing Samsung products again.

Not worth it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the money this is the worst tv I have ever purchased. The juddering has been getting worse and worse. Now the entire screen just flickers on and off. The most recent issue is my A/V receiver will no longer work with a HDMI cable. The tv does not recognize that it is connected. I contacted Samsung support and they did not want to help. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this brand/model to go with a different choice. I have tv's that I have bought for half the price and work so much better.

Bad TV?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV and immediately felt like something was wrong. Long story short, I brought it back and paid $200 extra for The LG B8. Best decision ever, do yourself a favor and buy the real deal!

Disappointed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the most disappointing TV and service experience I have ever had. TV screen went out within 6 months of purchase. Geek Squad has been out 4 times - still no picture. Ordered wrong parts, ordered parts that were then cancelled by their parts distributor. Stuck watching a small LG TV that now sits in front of this "premium" Samsung TV. Have an older 65" LG TV in another home which has been great. Will definitely be avoiding both Best Buy and Samsung brands in the future.

My first 4K
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife and i were at our local Best Buy looking at all the 4K tv's on display, had the choices narrowed down to 2. the Samsung Q6 or the LG Oled model on display. Wish i could remember the sales associates name that helped us, very friendly and professional, talked to us about both models. he personally had the Q6 model, and highly recommended the Q8. in his opinion, its much better than the LG. so we with the Q8. On check out he recommended going on "You Tube" and check out videos about adjusting settings to fit our needs. and thats what we did. we watched the tv for a couple hours with the factory settings and we loved it. then we put in the settings we found on "You Tube" All we can say is "HOLY CRAP THIS IS AMAZING" We have never seen tv like this. so crisp, so clear. SO AMAZING. every color so sharp and bright. we are very happy with this purchase. now our children are planning on buying one also.

Better
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Coming from a 65ks8000 to this tv. 3 things I noticed 1. Colors have more of a pop to them 2 The upscale is even better , making cable television more like 4k (march madness looks really good on this tv) 3 HDR is brighter I guess the million dollar question is Is it worth the upgrade? I have 2 weeks or more to decide. ps kinda bummed it didn't come with a 1 connect box , that alll the inputs are behind the screen.

Great Product, Compromised by Add-ware
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The picture is great. Smart Hub forces "For Purchase" items first. As a TV, the blacks are really black. They look good even off axis. I am still trying to find my visual sweet spot. For image quality this is a no-brainer. Product deserves 4.5 - 5 stars, but..... My next point however may be a poison pill for some. The TV is shipped with some apps installed that you cannot delete. The worst offender is the Sling app that occupies the prime location (first in the list of apps). It even comes before the broadcast TV option. It begs you to subscribe. You cannot delete it. You cannot move it. You will always have to skip over it to get to the functions you want. The next non-movable or delete-able option is the "Universal Scheduler". It promotes movies that you can pay to watch. Basically after spending thousands of dollars on a really good TV, you also have to "donate" prime real-estate to promotional products. It feels like you get the "Add-ware version of the TV. The Samsung support person who logged into my TV could could not remove them. He said it was part of the App. Samsung why do compromise such a great product with such blatant disregard for the customer?

Posted .ImageScienceGuy,
Thank you for purchasing the Samsung 65" Q8F QLED Smart TV, and for bringing your concerns to our attention.
Please know that you can customize the Smart Hub home screen by adding other apps or changing the sequencing.
Select an object then press the down arrow to access the popup menu from which you can move/remove objects.
The Sling app is not installed by default. You can remove it easily by pressing the up arrow and selecting “Remove.”
The Universal Guide is not an app, but rather a setting as a guide across all sources. It is designed to offer an easy way for our users to find streaming content and live TV shows, and only opens if a user selects and clicks on it.
If there is anything we can do to further assist and improve your user experience, please do let us know by contacting Samsung Customer Support via the following options:

The future is now!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you truly had any issues with the 2017 version of the QLED, I'm asking that you PLEASE try the 2018. As the previous reviewer wrote, the fact that Samsung has protected from burn in with OLED's by not only upgrading the tech, but also WARRANTYING the fact says it all. I have been using the TV with my Xbox One X 4k capabilities and the outcome is strictly amazing (try Mad Max:Fury Road with this gem)!! The colors and blacks truly are represented in this model and I dare you to compare it to any other QLED or OLED TV. This thing holds its own against all comers!

Bad dirty screen effect and vertical banding g
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got the 65" Q8FN mainly for gaming and sports. The picture quality most of the time is great, but do not watch sports like NHL or NBA on it. The vertical banding and DSE are really bad. It's also very apparent when playing video games. I bought this TV for gaming, which 90% of it's usage is. The vertical bars and DSE are so distracting that I do not even want to play games! Even worse than that, however, is Best Buy Geek Squads treatment. I also bought their $275 extended service plan. The Geek squad guy came out and could see the issue and acknowledged it (obviously he didn't think it was as big of an issue, was clearly was not a TV tech enthusiast like me, and it wasn't his money being spent on the TV). In any case, he tried to explain the issue to someone in a remote call center to authorize a repair. The call center person could not see the issue (the on site tech was using the camera on his cell phone to show the issue to the call center). The problem with doing this is that THEY WERE ONLY LOOKING AT STILL IMAGES. THE PROBLEM IS WHEN THERE IS MOTION ON SCREEN. I pointed this out to the tech, but he clearly didn't give a rip. I also spoke to the store manager, and he also did not give a rip. $3000 with the warranty. I WILL NEVER EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM BEST BUY AGAIN! Now that this is out of the way, continuing. So, waiting for Samsung to get back to me on a repair job. Also, potential buyers should be aware of what panel you're getting. Samsung using 3rd party companies for some of their product. I got an AA01 panel in my unit, a panel from a non Samsung 3rd party. If Samsung comes out and repairs the unit to satisfaction I will update the review. Really is a shame. The Q8FN does have great picture quality most of the time. No TV enthusiasts may not even notice the DSE and banding... However, this is a premium TV and it should not have these issues at all!

Best TV I've ever owned
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV to upgrade my old 55" Samsung and WOW! What am improvement. It is the first 4K TV I've owned, so that has a lot to do with it, but the QLED is great. I had to experiment with the picture settings to get it where I wanted, but otherwise I love it! My only complaint is that same one I had with my old Samsung. The remote doesn't have any lights! So in a dark room, I find myself constantly tilting the remote toward the TV so I can see where the buttons are. You would think that for the price, Samsung would throw in a couple of lights in the remote.

Excellent for gaming and movies.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Couldn't be happier with this purchase. For gaming it's amazing. Freesynch, VRR, and excellent color in game mode and low input lag. Single player games outside of game mode are stunning, and the input lag is still excellent. Picture quality for movies is amazing as well. Check the reviews. This TV delivers. Highly recommend. Only negative is no Dolby Vision, but no 12 bit panels exist currently that can fully take advantage of the standard. Highly recommend this TV if you can find it over the 2019 model. You'll save a ton of money and still get the excellent performance this QLED delivers.

Good TV. But not worth price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought TV over a month ago. Moved up from a Samsung 6 series. I must say the gaming picture and the movie scenes are quite good. But for $2300. Worth maybe $1200. Some of the Amazon shows have motion blur. We have a 150mb internet connection, and no problems with our other Samsung TV, or the xbox. It's not constant so it just shows once in a while and only on that app. 4k movies are good, but look almost as good as our 6 series tv using the upscaling with the xbox one S. Gaming is quite good, but again so is it on our 6 series tv, picture is a little better but not much, and costing over $1700 more, again. Not worth it. Somehow this tv shows lagging and it's suppose to be the best gaming tv on the market. The Bixby feature is terrible and barely understands anything. However much this added feature costs the consumer. It is a complete waste. I was going to buy the Q9, but went with the Q8 because the gaming is better on the q8 than the q9 and I couldn't rationalize an extra $700 for a tv that doesn't beat the other in every aspect. Thank Goodness I didn't go that route. I loved Samsung tvs, but I think it's time to switch. Like when I switched from Playstation to Xbox. I need 1 more high quality tv for downstairs. I'm definitely not buying a Samsung q anything. I did have the money to spend, and the tv is good, just not worth the price. If the motion blurr goes away when I put this TV downstairs and put a LG Oled upstairs. Then it goes to slightly overpriced rather than overpriced.

Posted .Hi Gamer38,
I am sorry to hear that you are not completely satisfied with the gaming experience.
Have you tried Freesync? This innovative feature is unique only to our QLED TVs that allows the TVs to synchronize its refresh rate with compatible graphics cards or consoles, and remove tearing in graphics-demanding games.
To activate it, simply go into game mode from the accelerator bar and select ‘Game Mode Settings’ then select FreeSync and toggle it ON. The Freesync option then gives users two modes – Basic and Ultimate, depending on the type of game you are playing.
If you find Game Motion Plus causes unwanted artifacts, blurs when playing some FPS, try toggled this setting off completely.
To do that, highlight Game Mode from the accelerator bar and press the up direction on the OneRemote. Then, select Game Mode Settings. From here, you will see Game Motion Plus and be able to toggle it off or adjust Blur/Judder.
I hope these tips help you enjoy better game playing on your Q8F TV.

Great 4K TV for a bright room
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I first got a Sony TV and returned it because I was not happy with the glare I got in my TV room with lots of windows but with the Q8 the glare was very minimal . I also use the TV in movie picture mode with a few calibration changes and that seems to look best to me. I am very happy with this TV...
