Heating Element Burnt after 15 months

Terrible dryer. Doesn't dry at all because the heating element burnt up after 15 months, 3 months out of warranty. $500 down the drain. The sensor never worked from day one. The clothes were always damp at the end of the cycle. Doesn't have a light on the inside so it is impossible to see inside to take out 1 shirt for example. Don't trust the reviews on BB, they put all the bad reviews into a different section of their website and they don't show up here. I purchased this dryer from BB.

    Do Not Purchase

In short, this stopped working twice in the first year which was covered under the warranty. Shortly after that the noise coming from the machine is very loud, not a normal dryer sound but like a train running through the house. Finally at the two year mark of owning this dryer, it stopped heating up. We just purchased a Maytag to replace this piece of junk. If you do a web search you will find these are common issues with Samsung dryers which absolutely shouldn’t be occurring with a 2 year old dryer. Samsung should stick to TV’s. Lesson learned.

DID NOT WORK TO SPECIFICATIONS IN MANUAL

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The dryer display panel did not work correctly according to the specs in the owner's manual. Main problem is Cool Down indicator light comes on immediately upon starting dryer. It should come on when the cool down cycle starts, not immediately. Chatted with Samsung and was told it was defective. Best Buy replaced it but the replacement dryer failed too.

    Junk

Only giving it 1 star because it won't allow me to give a 0. I must have gotten the junk one of the lot because 6 months and 2 days later it's not working at all. Samsung customer service told me to call BestBuy, BestBuy told me to call Samsung. After I finally got someone to help me, 2 days later the service company calls and tells me the service is out of warranty...6 months...6 months on a brand new, $500 machine, and it's completely useless. I'm far beyond furious right now, if there was another word for how mad I am I'd love to know what it is.

    Repairs repairs repairs

Purchased August of 2020 for a family of 2. We probably do 3 loads of laundry a week on average. The first repair was needed literally a month after the one year warranty expired. Required a new drum belt and drum rollers. The drum has been squeaking for about 6 months. Then yesterday went to turn on with a sm-med size load of daily clothes and the drum is grinding so loudly that I definitely dont feel safe running it. Thankfully this dryer isnt available anymore but of your looking at reviews because you plan to buy one used, dont. Youll end up either sinking money into repairs or cutting up your own hands getting in there to fix it yourself. I personally will never buy a Samsung dryer again.

So disappointed. Motor went out after 3.5yrs, $400+ to fix. They don’t make ‘em like they used to it seems. Should have bought a Whirlpool instead. The capacity is great for family but no good if doesn’t work.

    Quit After barely 15 months

So disappointed in this dryer. It stopped working after barely 15 months of use. I powered it up, set the settings and it won't actually start doing anything. The lights blink like it's drying, but the heat and drum don't actually turn on. I am LIVID. I have never paid this much for a dryer and had it quit so soon after buying. I will NEVER buy another Samsung appliance again. They need to stick with phones/tvs. Of course it only has a 1 yr warranty. Should have researched a bit more, but thought since it was Samsung it would be a great product.

I bought this with a 3 year warranty. Of course in year 4 the dryer stops working. There is an issue with the heating element and its about $200 in parts/labor to replace so I’m just going to buy a new dryer wirh a more reputable brand that is actually reliable.

    Get an extended warranty

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this dryer 3 years ago and I've taken it apart so many times to fix it that I can get it apart and back together in record time. First it was the heating element, then the wheels, then the pulley. Aside from that, Samsung appliances all sing a song when finished cycling and there is no option to turn it off. If you don't want to be alerted by the song of the Samsung people, then you're out of luck. Maybe this time that I have my dryer apart I can figure out how to shut that tune off because it is highly annoying. When I sell my house, the appliances (all Samsung) will happily stay for the new owners to do with as they please. If they don't want them, then I envision myself going Office Space on them in a field somewhere. Wish I would have gone with Whirlpool.

The design of the lint filter is pathetic. I have had to buy replacements four times. We’ve also had to purchase and replace the heating element. I would not recommend this dryer.

Well the dryer is good the service and install was awful, first bestbuy.com sent a appointment time 7:30 to 9:30 well that came and went, so called the number on the email and the lady said that was incorrect. Then I received a new time of 9:30 to 1:00. Very frustrating. Second, she had said it stated just a drop off. I said the email stated set up and haul away, well then she asked if I purchased a dryer cord and vent. We have the vent but never ever thought a dryer doesn't come with a cord???? Wow so I said I'll have to go purchase one.....how inconvinent. I'm totally disgusted with the whole process not sure if I'll ever buy a thing from best buy again and it's a shame because we have alway bought our things from the company....done ranting but hope this helps the next person.

Poor Quality and Short Life Span

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Dryer is great for the first few months, but do not expect it to last very long. Dry stopped working before 18 months of use. Completely stopped drying clothes. Got the unit repair by "Samsung" and it lasted another 14 months. So now again there is no heat. The quality is very poor and should not require repair in less than 3 year and definitely not 2 repair. Based on my experience this is definitely not the best brand/product if you are looking to have a quality product.

    Not Well Built

Purchased this model in December 2016. Since then the belt tensioner pulley burned itself out after less than 3 years. A year later came a loud buzzing noise that comes and goes with no explanation. Now the rollers need to be replaced because it sound like an out of balance clothes washer. The replacement parts are no better than the original, so the problems will happen again. I have never experience so much trouble with a simple clothes dryer. It is dying after only 5 years, and I use it only twice per week.

    Won’t shut off automatically

This dryer is a fire hazard waiting to happen. I have had this dryer for barely 2 years. It will not shut off automatically. We have to set a reminder on our phone for an hour to make sure we take the clothes out or the dryer will go on for up fo 6 - 8 hours until it freaks out and all the lights start flashing (I guess it realizes it’s too hot?). We will probably get rid of this dryer and get something never. Never will we buy Samsung appliances again

Heater coil failed, which I replaced at $100.00. Then, the motor quit working. That’s when I decided to replace rather than spend more money. I know what BB would say...Contact Samsung and oh, BTW, you’re out of warranty. Go buy a Speed Queen with a 10 year warranty and their made in America! And while I’m at it, BB doesn’t live up to it’s name! It was not the best buy!

    Samsung Dryer: Model# DV40J3000EW/A2

Do not buy this dryer, after less than 3 years (purchased end of 2015) had to change the drum rollers and guides, belt and tensioner. That was a month ago, now powers up all indicators working but will not start. Should of known this was going to be an issue when 2 months after I bought the matching set (Washer & Dryer) I was warned not to use the washer due to a defect that caused the lid to "blow" off. If you Google this dryer by model number you will see that this exact issue is not isolated but a VERY common problem.

So we purchased the Samsung washer and dryer two years ago. The dryer has gotten too hot since we bought it on all levels except the low setting and makes a burning smell. The heating element just went out a month ago and now the washing machine which has been off balance since a week after purchase is now leaking from inside the machine and flooded my laundry room. Do your self a favor and but any other brand / model.

    This Dryer is TERRIBLE

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I cannot get this Dryer to completely dry my towels no matter what I set it at. For example, today I even did an extra washer spin on them before drying and I washed them on heavy duty. I set Dryer to timed dry in HIGH HEAT for 80 minutes and they are still very damp. I miss my old dryer. It takes me all day to get laundry done. Not efficient.
