Prior to this dryer I had a 20yr. Old front loading one that seemed to dry the clothes much more efficiently. I didn’t want to switch dryers but we moved and I had to purchase a stackable pair due to space constraints.

Possibly the worst dryer I’ve ever owned. Definitely not worth the high price. It needs to be set on extra dry to get a load of any size dry. It’s supposed to be a large capacity drum but it can’t even dry a set of sheets without making a huge ball of them, and of course whatever ends up in the middle of the wad doesn’t dry. It looks pretty next to the matching washer. That’s the most positive thing I can say about it.

You have to set it to "very dry" to effectively dry a regular load. Even then I sometimes have to re-run it.

Dryer never dries properly, always felt dampness on the clothes, even for a medium load. though I have purchased a big dryer. Maybe one of the faults unit among others. Scheduling service with Geek Squad.

Faulty circuit board is a common issue

This dryer has a very common circuit board failing that causes it to continue spinning as long as it's plugged in, without drying. I found lots and lots of complaints on line and some handy temporary fixes on YouTube, requiring you open up the board and give it a few strategic whacks with a screwdriver, until that eventually doesn't work anymore. Samsung, however, is no help. And now I'm having a terrible time finding a replacement part even though I bought this just 4 years ago. It started not working properly just three years in.

Purchased 18+ months ago. Felt dryer ring went out. Contacted local repair man, $400-500 to fix. Unit is completely garbage. Contacted Samsung and they agreed to fix for free even outside the 1 year warranty. Wouldn’t recommend this unit because this is a common error with all the dryer units per the local repairman

The install team did a great job getting me the product on time and installed. However, Samsung did a horrible job in delivering a defective product that didn't provide heat.

Had samsung dryer before. no issues. I think i got a faulty one. There was buzzing noise in all modes except time dried mode. I am getting it exchanged for same one with white door. will not match the washer but $50 less. (Note exchanging online orders could be tricky. i had to call 4 times.) Will review after i get that installed.

    Tumble dry low

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I just replaced my 7 year old Samsung dryer for a new one under the believe this one would be the same or better. It’s not. They have gone backwards. Turns out the only setting you can low heat dry things is the timed setting and that’s one of two where you loose the sensor dry feature. Most my clothes ask for tumble dry low. Feeling very disappointed.

During 1st year ownership 2 Major Service Problems

    Posted .

I've had my Samsung dryer for just over a year and it already had 2 very major mechanical issues. First the entire drum stopped turning, and a warranty repair was performed fixing the issue. Presently, 2 days ago, the dryer wouldn't stop running, even when the power button turned off. The only way to stop it was unplug it. I checked on-line, and apparently many other Samsung dryer models have had similar circuit board issues, not allowing them to shut off either. During the 14 years I owned my last dryer, made by Bosch, I didn't have even one mechanical or electrical problem. I wouldn't purchase a Samsung dryer in the future based on my experience.

Nice Looking, Poor Quality, Samsung Support Lacks

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

We bought a nice matching washer / dryer pair - DVE45M5500 dryer, full stands, etc. I really wanted to like it - it looked nice, and seemed to dry well. First caveat is that the stands are too short to be useful at all. For almost the price of the washer / dryer itself, you'd think they'd at least hold common bottles (e.g. Clorox, etc.) - but too short. Got past that, and seemed to work OK until about a month ago. Yesterday, the dryer wouldn't turn off unless door was opened, unplugging / opening circuit breaker for any length of time didn't stop it. Happened once a couple of months back, but a couple of power cycles and it came back. Dryer is 1 year 3 months old, definitely hadn't expected common problems to start erupting yet. Two calls to Samsung yielded the same results, "We can either send a repair person out to fix it, or we can give you the number to call, but it'll be on your dime since the warranty is expired". I get it - it's a one year warranty, not 1.25 years, but it really demonstrated the type of customer service and reputation I can expect from Samsung. Also didn't see the rationale to spend $450 to fix a $600 dryer. First and last time customer, will enjoy relaying this story for years to come. If the electronics are already going south, this dryer won't last long. My Duet ate bearings and heating elements, but the electronics (i.e. the expensive bits) lasted it's entire life, which was a tough one in a house of 6. Took the top off, took the control board out, did the "tap the relays" thing with the handle of a screwdriver, and it's working now (for some time anyway). I'll order the new relay and replace next time. Save yourself some heartache and either get a different brand or pony up for an extended warranty (and a lot of inoperative time).

I purchased this dryer 3 years ago. We hadvery light use. Maybe 1 to 2 loads a week. Initially the dryer worked great and I was very happy with this product. However only 2.5 years after purchase the dryer stopped working and I needed to replace the dryer drum and the heater and motor at a cost of more than $500. I tried to talk to customer service to see if they would stand by their product. Other companies provide a ten year warranty on the drum. Samsung does not provide this same warranty. I tried to speak to a supervisor and was told basically I was out of luck. obviously this was a manufacturers defect given the two primary components gave out in just two years. I would never again buy a Samsung product given their lack of customer service.
