You get what you pay for
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We've had this dryer for about four years now. Overall, it works fine, but we've had a ton of issues with needing it serviced. We are about to have the heating element replaced for the fourth time in four years. You get what you pay for!

Piece of junk, save your money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At first this was a great dryer and loved it. As time went on though our clothes took longer to dry even on a light load. Now two weeks ago it's makes a horrible grinding noise likes it's going to blow up! Which is scary because we actually bought this set to replace the recalled set that could have possible caught fire and seeing how we already had a house fire in our life we didn't want to risk it. (So this set is only 2 years old) We have kept our appliances clean and the lint compartment always free of build up. I'm pretty sure the barrings are going out which is what happened to our very first Samsung dryer after owning it a month but I thought it was a fluke. This is our third Samsung set in 10 years!!! Never again will I buy a Samsung washer or dryer. We really loved our Samsung refrigerator and its durability so we had high hopes for the washer and dryer. The features of the appliances attracted me and their sleek look but pass on these and go with a Maytag or LG. IM LEAVING THIS REVIEW ON EVERY SITE THAT SELLS THESE PIECES OF JUNK!! My parents have had their Maytag set for 20 years with no issues!

Not worth the money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this dryer brand new in 2016, now in Jan. of 2019 (barely over 2 years old) we have already had to replace the belt and the heating unit in this dryer and now it is making another awful noise. I contacted Samsung and they set me up with a 3rd party repair man. After talking with him, I honestly didnt feel like he was reputable and was expensive. I told him I was not interested in his service and he came to my house (out in the country) the next day anyways and left a note on my door. I found that very odd! Needless to say, my grandfather has fixed the dryer for me everytime it has had issues but it is barely over 2 years old! I should not have to be fixing it this much already, especially for what I paid for it!! We are currently looking at buying something else, but I can promise you it will not be a Samsung dryer! I have the matching Samsung washer which has never gave me any trouble, but this dryer is a hunk of junk!

Considering a Samsung dryer? Reconsider.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had it for barely over a year (just over the warranty period) when it started running for 10-15 min and shutting down with a hE error. This should have indicated a failed heating element. This was a dryer for a seasonal home, so it was used maybe 20 times before it failed. A call to Samsung was no help - despite being relatively new and barely outside of warranty, I was on my own. Chased down a copy of the tech manual, and started troubleshooting. Turns out, the entire dryer was rendered useless because of a $7 part (a thermistor buried deep inside on the blower motor vent). After replacing several other parts first, this one finally did the trick and the dryer was working again. Had I called out repair service, I would have paid $200-300 to repair a dryer that hadn't had more than a month's usage. The fact that this part could fail so easily (it's unprotected, right on the exhaust from the blower motor so it sees a lot of lint and dirt) means that you're on borrowed time. Buyer beware.

Clothes Burritos
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Soooo no one else pulls out clothes burritos after this dryer does its thing? Big loads, small loads, it doesn't matter. Most times, because the geniuses at Samsung didn't design this dryer to reverse every now and again, I get laundry that has rolled itself into a ball that is dry on the outside and damp/wet on the inside. Of course this is frustrating because time, electricity and water are being wasted. My Samsung dishwasher is terrible too (the redeposit is ridiculous). I will NEVER buy another Samsung product.

Do NOT buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this taught me not to buy samsung appliances. It broke down within 6 months and samsung seems unable to get a technician to show up for over a month. They appear to have one 'registered service agent' company for the Bay Area and act like its not their problem that they dont have availability. They refused to pay for a general appliance repair person who could show up same day. Their goal, I believe, is to make contacting and working with their customer support group so hard that you just get frustrated and give up.

Dryer Heating Element Died
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this unit on September 5th. It was delivered on the 11th. I have had this dryer for just over 3 months and the heating element has gone out. I will be contacting Samsung this evening to get this repaired. This just does not give me piece of mind if this unit already has an issue this soon from purchase. My last Maytag dryer lasted for 15+ years without any major issues other than a dryer belt. I will update my rating as long as Samsung makes right on this.

3 ELECTRICAL FAILURES IN 4 YEARS, HAVING TO REPLAC
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this unit 4 years ago, I'm a single guy, I don't do a ton of laundry, yet I've had various electrical elements burn out 3 times since buying it (high limit fuse as well as heating element). Having a look at Consumer Reports verified my suspicions that Samsung has serious reliability issues. I'm replacing my 4 year old unit with a new dryer from a different manufacturer now. Definitely not going with Samsung again.

Needed Repair After 1.5 Years of Use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. They don't make them like they use too. I remember my grandma's appliances working for 20 years or more. I've had my Samsung Dryer for 1.5 years and today it started to make screeching sounds as the drum was turning. I called Samsung and they said that can happen when there are heavy items in the dryer. I was drying bedding (sheets, blanket), those things you expect to be able to dry. The price was good when I bought it but now I'm paying $100's for repair. Buy with caution.

Do NOT Buy! Takes 3 Hours to Dry and No Support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this dryer in May. After professional installation, it was taking literally 3 hours to dry a medium load of linens. Samsung has sent 2 techs to repair, the second who was not only incompetent but so belligerent and aggressive that I feared for my family’s safety. I submitted a complaint to Samsung to which NO ONE responded! Instead Samsung advised that I had to call the same service company and ask for a 3RD SERVICE CALL. Meanwhile, I have had to resort to using the dryer disconnected from the vent to get items to dry in about an hour. This heats my laundry room unbearably so I have to turn on the air conditioning while running the dryer! Samsung has offered NO SUPPORT and will not allow me to return this dryer. I have spent OVER 5 HOURS and 3 months trying to get help to no avail!

Heating Element and Motor died right after a year
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased my washer and dryer combo in late Sept 2015. Everything was fine until the last month ( Dec 2016 ). A little over a year with a few months out of warranty both the dryer motor and the heating element went out. I didn't panic, I just called customer service to get the issues resolved. It took communicating with them for a full week with four different call centers before finally getting someone to come out. The technician never showed up. So we called Samsung back and requested to have a different service vendor to come. They obliged and set us up with the only other service tech in the city of Louisville, KY. Never confirmed. Still hasn't been fixed. I have no idea what I'm going to do. We never abused our appliances and honestly, never had a lot of laundry to do. You'd expect a set of $600 appliances to last you more than a year without issues. I'll never purchase a Samsung appliance again.

Don't
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the dryer 2 months and I am already have problems. It turns off prematurely after running for about three minutes. I have been waiting over 3 weeks to get a repair tech to my house from Samsung. Don't try to take it back to Best Buy after. 15 days it will not be accepted. If you need a dryer or company that is reliable these are not them. I'm very disappointed that I even have this dryer in my house. Talk about a poor life decision. Take a gamble if you want too, I did and look where I am.

Posted .Hi Justchris,
I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with your DV42H5000EW. Please note that there are several factors that could be causing the Dryer to shut off early. In particular, it's very important to make sure the lint filter and vent ducts are free of clogs that could inhibit air flow. If the Dryer can't exhaust safely, it needs to turn off to prevent overheating. Other factors that could be causing this and tips for resolving the issue can be found on pages 33-34 of the User Manual.
Thank you,
Ms. Samsung

Horrible Dryer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would recommend NOT buying a Samsung Dryer. I am on my second one in 3 years. First one broke three times the first year I had it. Best Buy let me turn it in for a full credit. I made the mistake in getting another model Samsung as I already had a base and thought the first one was just a lemon. My second dryer is just 2 years old and the heating element went out. It never really dried very well. Now I have been without a dryer almost two weeks and keep getting the run around in trying to get someone there to fix it as I bought a 5 year extended warranty. Would highly recommend you pick a different brand. Best Buy has been no help either. Consumer Compliant and reporting to the BBB is next.

Buy it!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this dryer in use for close to 4 years now with 0 issues. I'm glad I went with the set because the same goes for the washer! I got Geek Squad on it for 5 years but I doubt I'll need it.

poor quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My husband and I bought this set 2 years ago. Within the first year the display completely went out and was barley at the point of being under warranty. Now another year later we start to hear it thumping. Well to find out the drum is cracked! Not only that but the display is acting up again and not finishing the drying. I would start a fresh load to dry and a minute later it will turn off as it was done, Looking online this is not uncommon with the Samsung dryers but they will not fix this issue if its after a year. I have been a Samsung die hard fan for a very long time but I will never buy another appliance from them especially with the horrible customer service you get from them!

Broke less than 48 hours
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.JUNK!! Completely unacceptable...how can Samsung build and sell something that breaks so easily. The 2nd day I had it, I spun the drum looking for pj’s for my children. I heard it clicking and after the 2nd rotation I heard something in side the back pop off and fall and it was very loud! I turned it on and nothing..no hum, no spinning, and the timer runs and it says it’s drying. I’m assuming the Motor or the flywheel or something broke. My last dryer ran for 12 years without any problem. Samsung doesn’t give a hoot either. The earliest they can send someone out isn’t soon enough, a dryer is a major appliance and we have a family of 6 with laundry it the yen yang piling up. Samsung must not have a quality assurance to speak of because that’s unacceptable and with the price it should be able to handle normal wear and tear at the very least!!!

Samsung Appliance Break
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was great the first two years but has broken down... It doesn't heat, I loved the cut buttons and features but again... just stopped working. so happy I got the protection plan. Not worth saving an extra $200 bucks. I've been learning Samsung makes great phones but terrible appliances...
