Returned after few days as power button / function stopped working. Power worked again at returns desk, but opted to upgrade to a Sony after hearing that others had similar issue with this model and glad we did, it has been great.

After having the TV in less than a month, out of the blue it decided to turn on and off repeatedly with only sound and no picture. The TV was uncontrollable. Disconnecting the power source did nothing. It's being returned.

I have owned this TV for less than two years and on three occasions the entire screen has white overlay but the TV menu is full color. I’ve purchased new, high-end hdmi cables twice to fix the issue but it keeps happening. I would avoid this tv, it isn’t worth the headache.

    Good hardware, buggy software

I got this TV for a very good price, around $900 since it was an open box model. For that price, this is amazing. The picture quality looks quite good, and if it weren't for a couple problems this would be a 5 star product. The first problem is, this TV has a "global dimming" feature where if most of the screen is black (somewhere in the 80-90% range), the backlight will dim to much lower than it normally is set to. For me, this is incredibly distracting. Especially in some video games where it's very often switching between bright and mostly black. Leaving the backlight at full strength would still look good, and the blacks would still look black. My old TVs all did not do global dimming. This would not be a big issue, except for the fact that Samsung does not have any way in the options to disable this feature! The only way I was able to do this, was to enter the hidden service menu, and change a couple of values. After doing this, it behaved the way I wanted to. I won't give more detailed instructions, but you can find them on Google if you want to. Be very careful, you can mess up your TV by messing around in the service menu. I subtracted 1 star for Samsung not offering this option in the regular settings (when it's clearly capable of working without it). My next TV will probably be a Sony, because my last Sony TV didn't do this. I've seen other Samsung models do the same thing and it's really hard to watch. The next problem is the software is just generally buggy. Nothing that gets in the way of enjoying my content, but it's pretty annoying. For example, maybe 25% of the time when I turn on my TV, the software menus don't show up. I can't change inputs, open apps, or do anything. I have to turn it off then back on, then it starts working. Easy, but annoying and a waste of 10 seconds. Also, sometimes the "Info" button shows the wrong info. For example, I'll change frtom my 1080i cable box on HDMI 3 to my 4K Xbox One X on HDMI 1, and "Info" will still say "HDMI 3 - 1920x1080i". Or sometimes less noticeable, it sometimes won't accurately show when HDR is active. This is very random. It only affects the info menu, the actual picture looks fine and is at the proper resolution. But it's annoying not being able to accurately know what resolution and mode (HDR, 24 Hz, etc.) I'm running at. On the bright side, the smart TV apps are very good. I used to use my Xbox for watching media because those apps are better than my old TV's apps. But the Samsung apps are just as good, or better, than on my Xbox. The selection is pretty good too, though I wish Twitch.tv and Pac-12 Network had apps (the latter is not on Xbox either). They have no problem playing 4K and HDR content, and also 60 Hz works on Youtube. The TV only supports 2.4 Ghz Wifi and not 5 Ghz, which I was concerned about. Luckily, the 2.4 Ghz turned out to be fast enough to reliably play 4K content without ever buffering. But if you live in an apartment or somewhere with 2.4 Ghz congestion, the lack of 5 Ghz could be a real problem. Especially on the Steam Link app. Which did work better than I expected on here, though I had some issues getting my controller to work, which I believe was a problem on my computer and not the TV (I've always had mixed results with Steam Link, even with my dedicated Steam Link box). Overall, this is a good TV, that with a software update, has potential to be a great one. With some hesitation, I'd recommend it if you get a good deal.

    Terrible For Watching Animation

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Yes, the picture is gorgeous and if you limit yourself to watching live-action content the Samsung UHD TVs are fine. However, if you're a fan of animations like Rick & Morty or Family Guy or The Simpsons these models are just plain awful and suffer from a phenomenon similar to the effect of persistent phosphors in old-school tube TVs. In short, black objects moving against a white background (think eyes of cartoon characters) will leave persistent and annoying motion trails -- an 'after-image' that can sometimes look like smoke trails -- and once you see it you can't "unsee" it. As an aside, the UHD TVs from Sony don't suffer from this so it is definitely a flaw in the Samsung design. The guys from Geek Squad said they'd never seen anything like this either and tried replacing both my LCD panel and my main board but it did not resolve the issue. How this flaw made it past the initial design stage is a mystery but as I said, if you're a Rick & Morty fan consider a Sony XBR. You have been warned

Samsung TV quality is really unbeatable. The color is crisp clear and realistically warmer than competitors alike. We also like the remote control as it connects to and allow you to control the cable box and SONOS. Now you can take advantage of the free mounting provided by the Geek Squad! Wished we could have waited for 2 more weeks as we actually paid for the mounting service (which is the best service in the industry).

I'm not big fan of Samsung until I bought this TV, great pic quality, sound as expected but once I added my Boss soundbar I think I dont need to go to the theater anymore. A perfect Home Theater.. I'm loving it. Samsung is a great Product. I'm a huge fan of Samsung from now on.
