I bought this to become the new boot drive on my new desktop. The Samsung proprietary cloning software worked very quickly and flawlessly to copy my existing boot hard drive over to this SSD. Since I wanted to keep the existing hard drive for backup and archive, I needed to buy an additional SATA cable and power cable for this Samsung SSD. This drive was very easy to install and is working very well and is SO fast.

860 EVO series is a great buy for a sale price. Upgraded all my family old laptops to SSDs, speeds were increased dramatically. Aiming to buy any new laptop with HDD and upgrade to SSD myself - turns out way less expensive and I get a new free HDD to put into enclosure and use as a network USB photo/whatever storage. At 600TB written endurance, this SSD is the most durable on the market for a reasonable price.

I have bought several of these 1 TB drives and they are great. I have used them in my gaming PCs as well as two different PS4 Pros. The speed is great and they just work. No issues. Setup is drop dead easy. Samsung is at the top of their game when it comes to SSDs and this drive is yet another example that shows why. Buy with confidence!

SSD’s Always a good way to speed up “Prebuilt “ systems. Samsung one of the Top tier companies 5 yr warranty.,Has dramcache, Easy to use Cloning software. Replaced a 1tb 7200/64 conventional drive. 10th gen I-5 boot time went from 39 seconds to 16..... On a prebuilt..... Samsung makes Faster drives . In my case not needed. 860EVO 1Tb less than $100 ,will probably last longer than rest of computer

Nice product but the software leaves a lot to be desired. I paired it with a WD hard drive and the software wouldn't find it or let it have access. I wanted to let large junky files go on the hard drive, and also put backup files and a copy of the operating system on the hard drive too. No joy. The good part is the ssd is FAST, and does its job very well and with 1 terrabyte it will last awhile. The only trouble is, the more you use it the faster it wears out and fails. The memory can only be written a few times before it fails so you need a hard drive backup after a couple years. Some of the other brands don't last as long, and the smaller ones die sooner. But for speed it's great while it lasts. The m2 nvme pciex 4.0 x4 ones run twice as fast. I bought one for me for my new build for Christmas, but haven't been able to get the Ryzen 9 5900 to go with the rest of my new rig to test it out.

    Excellent as a Media Drive

I use this in an ASUS gaming laptop (10th-gen i5 with NVIDIA GTX 1650Ti and 24GB RAM). This is a mid-range gaming/productivity setup so my approach is probably overkill, but I keep my Windows and Linux operating systems on the m2 NVME and I keep my Steam library and media (mostly 80GB of music, with some photos and videos) on this 860 Evo SSD. This keeps my OS disks clean, lightweight, and bloat-free. For gaming/media/heavy productivity users, the Samsung 860 Evo is plenty fast and the SATA interface isn't a major hinderance. For photo/video editing, I will move the file to the m2 drive with faster read/write speeds, finish my editing there, then move the finished file back to the Samsung. For most everything else, this drive is plenty fast enough to leave everything here. Like I said, my system is mid-range so this is approach is probably overkill, but it works for me. (For users without tons of memory and discrete graphics - including users who don't know what I just said, this drive is perfectly fine and is likely still a pretty big speed and size upgrade from your OEM SSD. And if you're still using a spinning hard drive, this is probably all you need.) The Samsung Magician software is nice. It is far more feature-rich than WD's Dashboard software and has a few more metrics, benchmarks, and optimization features. For what I use this for, this drive is excellent!

This is the #1 upgrade you should make to your PC if you are using an HDD! I got this SSD running my OS and now my pc is suddenly 10x snappier! My pc took a couple minutes to boot up and now takes maybe 20 seconds to login screen. You can also stick it anywhere in your pc since it has no moving parts like a HDD. I could go on but everyone already knows these facts by now lol... just buy it. It’s worth it

The bottom line is this if you want faster start-up and quicker access to your files, internet, etc. then a Samsung SSD is your ticket to a much better experience on your laptop or desktop computer. No spinning hard drive can compare to an SSD period and not only that when put in your laptop your battery life increases because there are no moving parts in an SSD hard drive. Very easy to install as well and you don't have to be an I T professional.

I bought this fo my PS4 Pro and it's worked great it's really fast and reliable. I had just the standard hard drive and really needed something to upgrade too. I would have gotten the newer faster version but, due to the PS4 pro's bottleneck I would have been paying for more speed that I can use. Just open the day at the bottom of the PS4 Pro undo a few screws slide it in, then download the update file from Sony's website and you're good to go

My ps4 died. And then I found out the common problem was with the internal HDD. I read up on the fact the HDD wasn't strong enough for the graphics card and people swapped them out with SSDs. Not only did it work flawlessly, but it improved the overall performance. Faster loading times, runs cooler and quieter, and was extremely easy to install/swap out. Highly recommend, especially if you find it cheaper!

Replaced a 7200 RPM hard drive with this SSD. Made this laptop a speedster! Free cloning software from Samsung works without problem. Takes about two hours to clone with USB 3.0 to SATA cable. Then, just remove old hard drive with small screw driver and install. Turn computer on and off you go. Brings new life to an old computer. Installed one in my newer desktop about a year ago with the same fantastic results. So far - highly recommend!

Brought this to upgrade the drive in my HP Envy laptop. This drive provided a substantial decrease in boot time and increase in overall speed of the laptop. From sleep the laptop is at the login as soon as I open the screen. A cold boot takes roughly 7 seconds. It's still working great , so needless to say I'm happy with the purchase.

Im moderately versed in pc building and such and its not my first rodeo in dealing with this SSD. Easy install using it as a pair for raid0 for game downloads while I have an M2 drive for the boot, although my motherboard bios had to be adjusted because it doesn't initially search for M2 drives for boot if an ssd or anything else is connected to sata ports. Speeds are phenomenal compared to HDD, and have had no problems in raid 0 so far.

This was purchased for a desktop that had an extra bay and SATA connection available. We installed the SSD, spent less than an hour putting the image of the old hard disk onto the SSD using the software downloaded from Samsung's website, booted off the SSD, and just like that - instant system upgrade. Old drive now serves as a backup device. Only thing missing was the screws to mount the drive appropriately, but that was handled with a quick trip to the hardware store.

I had recently purchased a new laptop. But the hard drive was a standard one. I purchased this and migrated my data over using the tools downloaded from Samsung, and everything works so much faster. I only purchased this one and not the M.2 because I didn't know if my laptop had a slot for it. But now my games load faster and everything just runs so much smoother. I am glad I did this.
