fast, great for MacBook Pro (mid 2012)

I used super duper to transfer information on to the hard drive(free).I used You tube for the direction. Why upgrade to a new MacBook pro $1300+ that will have a lot smaller hard drive and less memory. Plus I heard the new units are sealed and not upgradable.
