Amazing SSD, Still works in 2024/5!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Still works to this day! Amazing SSD, I use it as a backup drive, and it performs flawlessly. I thought there would be a huge upgrade when I got my 980 pro but there really wasn't. For benchmarks yes, but everyday activities and gaming, nope no difference. Lightning-fast load times. I even used this in my ps4 for a while way way back. Great SSD.

Missing USB/SATA Adapter
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Missing USB/SATA Adapter, so if you are going to buy, consider getting this adapter too.... Sadly the manuals says it is on the package, but it is not.

Lost of information when changing a hard drive.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Geek Squat The laptop needs a battery change. The technician advised a change of the hard drive. I requested that the information in my laptop be saved. The technician indicated that an icon with the information in the old hard drive was included. However, the files in such icon were empty. I have lost the documents and several photo editing programs.

excellent ssd, some competitors are cheaper
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got a 1TB 860 evo and a sandisk ssd 1tb for my custom pc the evo is my boot drive the sandisk is the data drive, in benchmarks the samsung beats the sandisk by very marginal amounts and in real world use its inperceptible the speed difference in the 2 yet the samsung cost $40 more at the time and $60 more now so from my experience with both if best buy had 2 sandisk 1tb drives at the time i may have gone with 2 of them, but they also only had 1 860 evo 1tb and i wanted 2 1tb drives. I originally wanted 2 860 evos but said eh i know sandisk from their flash drives and they are reliable and so is samsung so i got 1 of each. So far 4 months in i like both but it really does seem the sandisk is a better deal as its within 95 to 99% of the samsungs performance in benchmarks and costs less, only question on the sandisk ssd would be long term reliability so i gave it a 4 star and this one 5 for that as samsung ssds have a slightly better reliability record. This is a blistering fast drive.

Samsung 860 EVO 1TB
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I could partition the 1TB SSD, but could not format the partition. I tried formating on Windows 10 and Centos 7 Linux with the same results. I returned the SSD I bought on sale for $129. Couldn't get a replacement when I returned the SSD. So I lost out on the sales price of $129 which is now $149. This is the first Samsung SSD i've ever had a problem with.

Was great until it wasn't - 5 months in use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Drive was purchased for use as an external drive. Sat on my desk the full 5 months of its useful life. Then the drive just stopped working. Totally unresponsive. I tried two other drive enclosures thinking it was the enclosure - same dead drive result across all of the tests. Having registered the SSD with Samsung, I saw online that the 60 months parts and labor was still very much in effect. However getting the drive fixed has now become an issue. Samsung's web page won't allow any repair requests to made through it, and the phone system does not appear to allow any input from the caller. I've been stuck within the automated system while attempting to describe what device it is that I'm needing repair. All in all, to have a drive like this go down after just 5 months is disappointing. I've had another Samsung EVO SSD go dead on me, so perhaps there's just a lot of them with bad parts? Regardless, I'll be looking at other SSD options from now on.

Not worth it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased not even a year ago and bad sectors has the drive failing non-stop that I can't even hook it up to another machine to try and save my data. This drive was my primary OS hard drive and everything, so I get to now spend the beloved time of getting a new drive and installing everything again. Phones and TV's I'll stick to this manufacturer, but for a personal desktop, not gonna happen again. **this is the 2nd one I bought. 1st was for business on a machine that the hard drive on that one failed. That one has lasted but that's mostly because it's not used daily and when it's used, not much is done with it. 1st one was bought online, 2nd one was in the store on my Best Buy card.

Would not clone a new Dell tower.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought my first SSD many years ago and love the technology! Bought to upgrade a new Dell for my accountant. Dive would not boot after many clone attempts. Drive shows no issues, but the Dell hated this drive. I finally gave up and bought the Sandisk SSD. The Sandisk has better cloning software IMO, and worked perfect first try! I use a Samsung M2 SSD in my own system and love it, but this drive was nothing but trouble! Best Buy was excellent about the return and I bought the next drive from them as well. Happy with the service and price. Thanks Best Buy!

Drive should come with a cable
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I asked the sales associate if this drive came with a cable. She said yes. I got home, no cable. I bought a cable on Amazon. Came 2 days later. So Samsung has great products but they should include a cable or at least make it clear on the box.
