Surprised How Easy the Upgrade Was
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Replaced WD Black with this SSD. It's still limited by SATA data transfer speeds, but it's a big improvement. Most surprising thing was the Samsung disk cloning software. It made a perfect copy of my boot drive, OS and all, on the first try. I just copied it over, and was up and running.

Excellent speed and long life expectancy.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This drive good read and write speeds. It's a little on the expensive side compared to a lot of other drives, but you get higher TBW spec. Whether that's important to you or not is up to you. I personally like the reassurance.

Mounting screws not included! Why?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great drive but please Samsung, spend another 10 cents to include the two required mounting screws necessary for installation. What an unnecessary bother for the end user to acquire these special tiny weirdly threaded parts.

Thank you for purchasing the Samsung 860 EVO SATA III SSD. Please know that these drives are not delivered with mounting screws since motherboard manufacturers typically provide the specific screws and spacers that fit the proprietary needs of each motherboard.

Bought this drive Saturday, it was dead Monday...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have 2 Samsung EVO 850 256 GB SSD Drives that are 4 and 5 years old, both with about 50 TB written to each one. I have some DashCam video editing I want to do, so I purchased this Samsung 860 EVO 1TB drive 4 days ago because I'm worried the strain I might put on either of my older Samsung 850 drives may cause them to fail, and I don't have a ton of room free either. This 1TB drive was the 5th SSD drive I've installed in the past 5 years, and it's the only one I had fail a cloning process. I tried 4 times to clone my old Samsung 850 drive with the Samsung software and it would always fail at 99 percent finished. So, I gave up on cloning and just used the new drive as a data drive, no operating system installed. That worked for 3 days flawlessly. I edited about 15 small videos with no problems. Later, on Monday, I turned on the computer to show my wife some of my new edited videos and my computer would not boot. It wouldn't even post to the Dell Logo. All I got was a black screen, with a cursor at the top left corner. My computer is also 5 years old, so I naturally thought it had died. I disconnected my CD-Rom drive, my other SSD drive, and my hard drive, and my computer still would not boot/post up. The new 860 drive was the last thing I unplugged and my computer started back up again, no problems whatsoever. So, I plugged in the new drive once more, to different SATA cables, and my computer would not boot/post up still. The new drive died on it's 3rd day of VERY light use. I was very disappointed. Yesterday, Wednesday, I returned the Samsung 860 EVO 1TB SSD drive to Best Buy and received a full refund, thanks to Best Buy for their great return policy. I elected to not exchange for another one because I didn't want to risk another drive failing. After all, my videos are still on that returned drive. I might revisit purchasing another Samsung SSD drive once my older Samsung 850 SSD drives fail, if that ever happens. They have been flawless, unlike this 860.
