This SSD brought new life to my six year old laptop. Previous HDD was in its death throes and wouldn’t keep the OS installed for more than three days before I had to wipe and reinstall windows. Bought this SSD as a last resort to save my laptop. Runs faster now than when I first purchased it. After getting the laptop opened and following instructions, install was a breeze. Added an extra 8gb of memory too. Couldn’t be happier.

Definitely a nice upgrade piece. Price is fair, and it is easy to install and clone from your old hdd.

The 1TB Samsung 860 EVO SATA solid state drive has been installed for over a week and works great so far. The SSD is smaller than the standard 3.5" drive bay so an mounting adapter is necessary if one plans to install it in a regular hard drive (HDD) bay. SATA and power cables are not included with the SSD either. The Samsung cloning Software would not clone my C (boot) drive with Windows 10 OS because it was originally partitioned as a dynamic drive. I ended up spending an additional $50 to purchase one of a few software packages that are available on the internet that will clone a dynamic drive and it solved the problem. Much to my surprise, the particular cloning software that I purchased also was able to trim 10 Giga Bytes off of the clone to get to get it to fit on the SSD. I had a USB to SATA adapter cable but did not need it with the particular cloning software that I used. I did not have to reauthorize Windows on the clone but did have to reauthorize a few apps and did have to relocate some USB keys which was pretty much expected. No software reinstalls were necessary in my case. The SSD does not come preformatted so a QUICK format was necessary. The instructions that come with the SSD are also very limited. Things like checking SATA drive and boot configurations in BIOS, turning off drive optimization (SSD only), and checking drive index settings should be clear to experienced users but not so much for the novice. Samsung Magician software was also pretty much useless in my case. I entertained the idea of moving the Windows Users folder and/or portions of the Windows users folder including documents, downloads, email, etc. to an HDD to decrease the number of SSD writes but need additional research before doing so.

While most SSDs are fast, they do not all come with free migration software. The Samsung SSDs consistently rate at the top of the speed charts and also come with an amazingly simple piece of software that lets you migrate your OS and all of the files over to the new SSD. I have used this software at least 10 times on different SSDs/computers and have never had a single problem. For this reason, I always tell people if the just pickup the latest Samsung EVO series they will be good to go.

This SSD is a great addition for extra storage or to replace a smaller/slower SSD for a boot drive.

Great hard drive. Fast and fuss free. I've had it a little over a month and have had no issues with it.

I frequently use 120Gb and 240Gb SSD drives to upgrade my clients, and the performance increase is great. Recently however, a client needed their Medical XRAY system upgraded, because the 500GB HD was running out of space. I purchased this 860 EVO 1TB drive, and WOW. With 42GB Buffer (the bigger the drive, the bigger the buffer) the response time for the system has dropped drastically. This system used to be a bottleneck on their network, when someone needed to retrieve xrays, no longer.

I needed to upgrade the factory 1TB HDD that came with my Dell 8910 desktop computer. I was able to use Macrium software to clone my HDD to my new Samsung SSD. Swapped out the drives and what a huge difference in speed and is silent when running. Excellent purchase for $99.00 on sale. Should have done this sooner. Also purchase another for my wife's laptop. Cloned her drive and swapped out. Big difference in speed.

Love this SSD! Worth every penny! Had no issues setting it up on my laptop and it's very fast!
