Bought as a gift for a PC build. The ssd works as expected. I have no complaints.

Doesn’t include the screw to mount it. This now makes for an extremely frustrating evening/weekend all due to Samsung cheaping out on something that should be included at this cost. Half tempted to return it and purchase crucial as they include all parts you need for installation. Wonder what else they cheaped out on….

The Samsung 980 pro 1TB NVMe SSD is on of the best on the market. Since the introduction of NVMe SSD's, this has changed the game of how fast data can read and write. With Samsung's new 980 pro PCIe 4.0, they managed to take it a step further. Installation of the 980 pro is as simple as plugging in the SSD to the motherboard, then booting up your computer. With the help of the dedicated Samsung software, Magician software - this lets you optimize your new drive by a simple click of a button,(at least it was in the past). Once I booted up my computer, I opened the Magician software to try and optimize my new SSD, only to find that the software doesn't recognize the new Samsung SSD. After hours of trying to troubleshoot and fix the problem, I finally decided to give up on the software. After all, the drive was there, and it was working just fine. Next, I decided to run a few tests to see the difference in performance. I did notice a nice speed boost when loading games, which really takes advantage of the NVMe. Games played very smooth and fast. Next I tried to do a little bit of video editing. I was really impressed with how fast and fluent editing was on the new SSD. Overall, I am truly impressed with the 980 Pro NVMe SSD. The M.2 form factor makes it easy to install and saves a lot of space inside your computer. The performance of the drive is super fast and very quiet. The only issue I faced was with Samsung's Magician software, which I'm not too worried about it as the drive performs just fine without it. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a new SSD.

You may want to research the problems with this SSD. It would not install on my new HP ZBook. I struggled all weekend trying to get the laptop to recognize it. This SSD has numerous reviews with complaints about the very same problem. Don't be fooled by the speed hype and extra control software that comes with it. I read the reviews after the purchase and finally I returned it for a WD Black 1 TB series SSD. A shame that this brand has a problem with this drive.

Died on me after couple months of use.. while gaming it kicked me off, I tried to look for the ssd everywhere wasn’t even showing up not even in Bois.. did a little research and any of these ssd made in korea in 2021 have a bad system failure which causes your ssd to brick.. pretty much fried never to be used again..

This might be the fastest NAND SSD you can find. It’s a legit prosumer level SSD. I have been waiting for a while for Samsung to release their Gen4 SSD. They were promising some crazy speeds, and based on my testing; they have delivered. My use for the SSD was for gaming and some 4k video editing. I did not bother to do read/write speed tests as those are literally everywhere. Instead, ill give you some thoughts on some more real-world use. If you are like me and planned to buy this SSD for gaming, then you will be happy with this drive. On average, I was seeing a 50% speed increase on my load times versus my old SATA SSD. That’s pretty incredible and changes your gaming experience. However, before you run out to buy one and show off your PC is as fast as a SpaceX rocket, make sure your motherboard supports PCIe GEN4. As far as installation, it couldn’t be any easier. It's actually easier than an HDD or SATA SSD. There is no need for running new cables since it just snaps directly into your MOBO’s PCIe port. If you are looking to give your PC a really effective boost on its performance, I’m not sure there’s a better place to start than a blazing fast SSD. This is the best one I have tested, and probably the fastest you can buy right now. If that’s what you're looking for, this SSD checks off all the boxes.

Samsung SSDs have always been the most reliable and offer the best performance for your money, in my experience. The 980-Pro is a solid upgrade from the 960-EVO it replaced. I had trouble initializing the disk from an external enclosure and noticed that it got much hotter than my previous Nvme drives. I thought the 980-Pro was defective, but it actually powered up just fine when I installed it directly in the M2 slot on my motherboard and it has been stable ever since. Pcie 4.0 is only supported by AMD motherboards right now, but even if you have Pcie 3.0 - you'll notice decent speed gains (3,500/2,800mb/s) if you're upgrading from a 960-EVO (2,200/1,800mb/s) or older. If you've never had an Nvme drive before and you're still on SATA SSDs or on non-Nvme M.2 drives -- then you'll be blown away by how much faster these are. Even if you're using an Nvme already and are just looking to upgrade storage space- don't hesitate to buy this drive. Another solid A++ from Samsung.

This drive has issues. The write speeds will eventually drop to about 2000 instead of the advertised 5000. Save yourself the cash and get a SN850 instead. I only wish I had seen this issue within my return window.

The SSD would not accept my Microsoft Windows 10 installation. After several attempts to boot to the Thumbdrive for the installation files, I gave up and returned the hardware. Used a HDD and it worked just fine.
