I’ve used several 970 EVOs in builds, and for me that was fast. The 980 Pro is on another stratosphere. This thing is FAST. I’m using it as my boot drive and my PC almost instantly boots to Windows, even when it has been sitting unplugged. Downloading and transferring files is mind-boggling. It’s almost instantaneous. If you’re on the fence about spending more for a Gen4 vs. Gen3 NVMe, stop contemplating. The difference in speed is simply unreal with Gen4, particularly the 980 Pro.

Samsung's free Magician application allows seamless cloning of old SSD to boot directly from the new SSD without reinstalling everything. Just make sure to get an external USB 3 dock in case you do not have additional slots.

I have had some problems lately with Samsung drives on my Mac. Not sure what the issue is, but sometimes the drive will just disappear. I would just have to reconnect and pops back up again. Overall great speed and great space.
