Samsung 980 Pro SSD review

She has only had it up and running for a few days, but, is very impressed. As this M.2 SSD attaches right to the board the transfer rate is fantastic. It is mounted to an MSI B550 Tomahawk motherboard. My wife can't get over the speed difference from her old computer. Yes, it was built about 7 years ago, on an FX6300 platform, but she doesn't care. It wows her.

Samsung is definitely the gold standard when it comes to storage. They are expensive but well worth it if you want blazing fast read/write speeds. If your motherboard doesn’t have a heatsink I would recommend getting one. These bad boys can get hot when moving large chunks of data on them. Games load fast but that’s pretty much and ssd. I would certainly recommend this drive! This is the best SSD I have ever owned.

Read and write speeds are great on desktop. You’ll get probably 3/4 of the performance on laptop motherboards. Just because the software limits it. Also runs great on server platforms. Overall I recommend this ssd to anyone that needs top of the line data transfer rates.

Luckily all I had on it was my OS, still it was a new build and a pain to reinstall everything. While I was waiting for the long process (3+ weeks) to get it replaced I got this 980Pro. So far no random BSD's or any of the weird glitches I was having. This SSD seems as fast and I wish I would have just used it from the start! The price was great too!

The greatest performance factor is that it has a continuous high level of writing. Most others will slow down after a certain amount of continuous writing. A little research reveals that most SSD providers have recently changed their controllers or their chips such that the sustained write speeds have decreased. Even Samsung has done this with their lower priced SSD products. This one so far has maintained its performance advantage.

Samsung's cloning utility is very user friendly and, had me up and running in no time ! Very fast as well. I would recommend this drive or a similar one from Samsung to anyone!
