the ssd installation only took a couple of minutes. I had to order a set stand-off bolts and screws to mount the drive. Best Buy has them, but will not sell to customers (reserved for use by Geek Squad)

I’ve had a really rough time with this ssd, doesn’t seem to have any online driver support or availability, poor comparability and overall not worth it. I got it because it was all best buy had at the time but i’d strongly recommend against this SSD, if you really want samsung get the evo, otherwise go with another brand

I added this drive to an existing setup for more storage capacity and couldn’t be happier with it. Whether you’re in the market for additional storage or looking to start off a new system, this is an awesome drive at an even better price! Barely more than the regular EVO but with significant performance boosts putting it in line with the Samsung PRO series of drives but at a much more affordable price. Performance: This 990 EVO PLUS SSD boasts impressive speeds of 7250 megabytes per second read and 6300 megabytes per second write, putting it significantly above the standard EVO and just shy but in the realm of a PRO version. I have this in an i9 13900k desktop as a secondary drive to my 990 PRO primary and this is every bit as fast from my user point of view. Incredibly fast transfers between the two. It utilizes PCIe 4.0 x4 and/or PCIe 5.0 x2 technology, which allows for much faster read and write speeds for large file transfers and intense data throughput - all while using less power due to its nickel coated controller. This is an interesting feature to note, especially if you are using it in a laptop and battery life is of concern to you. I have mine in a desktop so it’s full throttle all the time and this drive if blazing fast. Instantaneous response and high data transfer rates allow this drive to speed through large files and data transfers making it ideal for content creators/editors and gamers alike. I really appreciate the quick load times for games that I have installed on it rather than my primary drive. Build: This is a Samsung drive. Simply put, it’s built with excellent components, made to last, and will essentially never fail. A five year warranty lets me use it with confidence that my files and data are safe. Compatibility: This drive found its home in my desktop setup and works like a charm. Before settling it into my desktop I also decided to test it in my PS5 and worked fine as well. Note that it doesn’t come with a heatsink though which would probably be a good idea if you plan to use it for PS5 application. My desktop motherboard has an integrated heatsink in the mounting hardware, so no problems there. In either application installing this drive is a simple 5 minute upgrade and works immediately and flawlessly when incorporated in either one. As I mentioned previously, the nickel coated controller offers increased thermal control so it shouldn’t have any heat issues no matter where it’s used. In conclusion, this drive has done nothing but impress with its low cost, incredible performance, and increased efficiency over previous versions. It has been a great addition to my setup and I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a next-generation drive without breaking the bank.

Was broken when i tried to use it after taking it out the box

The Samsung 990 EVO Plus 2TB drive continue Samsung’s ability to produce faster drives. A standard M.2 with o heat sink so it will fit in any M.2 slot on a motherboard, USB case, etc. Installation is standard and easy. Just slip into a M.2 slot and secure with a screw or clasp available. I swapped out a Samsung 980 Pro 2TB for this newer version. Rebooted, and the Motherboard BIOS and windows saw it with no issues. Assigned with disk manager in Windows and was set. The Samsung Magician software set the drive up for Over Provisioning (OP), TRIM, and sleep settings. This can also be done by selecting power saving to full performance mode instead of manual selections. I do a 10% OP leaving 1.6TB or the 1.8TB available for use. I only had Gen 4 slots on my motherboard, but the drive was still slightly faster than the 980Pro. See the pictures of the benchmarks for both drives attached to the review. I Never got the temperature of the drive over 55C when transferring files to it. When transferring about 500GB, the max throughput I got from the 980Pro reading was around 2.4GB/s. The 990 EVO Plus read to 4GB/s at times. Samsung drives have always been fast and reliable for me, and this one seems no different. Great fast drive, easy to setup and use. The software will give you more control over the setup and use of the drive.

Best buy pricr match for plus membership is scam , Price drop by $2 next day of my purchase went to best buy store chat and call option forget it best buy havr worst phone and chat support , Manager at Nasha Nh while i was talking talking like making fun on Dec 19 because i was their to claim my $2 for product . I build gaming pc and i had 4 more item worth of $9 togather for price match . I gave up and walk out , since they have no idea how to process price match . I am telling people best buy do not have any easy process for price match for their existing price change . I will not goong to buy membership again . Complete 1 stat
