I was looking for a Blu Ray player that still had a display on the front. Good luck finding that in a new player, this was about the only one I could find that was reasonably priced. The controls are on top of the player and a bit difficult to see under low light, but at least they are there and you don't have to rely upon the remote. The Samsung "Smart" app is pretty good. It's a bit clunky to navigate, but any interface that relies upon input from a remote control (rather than a keyboard) is going to be that way. It's my understanding that you can connect a keyboard/mouse to this machine, so that's a bonus. I was able to hook up my hard drive to the player as well. Seems to have no problem playing stored music, looking at pictures etc. The only thing is that I may have removed the hard drive before it was done reading and it corrupted the settings on the drive. I was able to reset the hard drive and access my files after some internet searching. I'm hoping this doesn't happen next time I connect an external hard drive. The video player itself is good, I haven't used the "upscaling" function as I'm still utilizing my old Panasonic Plasma from 2010. Just keep in mind the only output you have is HDMI and Toslink. No component/composite or coaxial digital outputs.

This player lives up to what it says it does and much more. The quality of the movie and functionality is exceptional.

I only had a DVD player and decided I needed a Blu-ray player to bring my equipment up to date. The Samsung Blu-ray is very sleek and takes up very little space--a great asset when space is at a premium. I have recorded several programs and a couple of movies and the viewing quality is great. I highly recommend this Blu-ray player.

I bought this Dvd/ Blueray player because ours broke. I did some research into the quality of the Blueray players out there and I learned that this player will also play 4K Ultra as well! That is a good thing since we bought a 4K Ultra , 3-D TV! So I would recommend it anyone looking for a reasonable priced combination DVD/Blueray and 4-K Ultra Player then this is the one for you.

Had to replace another brand that started skipping and this DVD player is outstanding! Great buy for a great price.
