Customers are saying
Customers are delighted by the Chromebook Plus 2-in-1's touchscreen, ease of use, lightweight design, and good battery life. Many appreciate its convenient size and performance capabilities. However, some users express disappointment with the sound quality of the speakers and the lack of a standard USB port. Overall, the positive feedback on key features outweighs the negative comments regarding the less-than-ideal audio and port selection.

So far, So good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this Chromebook now for just over 24 hours. I had watched many videos and reviews leading up to the release date and was excited to purchase this device. For my needs, this is a perfect device. The display is great for video, the stylus is smooth and access to the Google Play store is what sold me. All the apps I use regularly on my Android phone I can put onto the Chromebook. I debated between waiting for the Pro or getting the Plus, so far I have not had any issue with power or lag with the processor. We will see if this changes as time goes on. The Keyboard is fine but not great. The speakers are really bad, but that doesn't bother me much because I normally use headphones or a bluetooth speaker. Overall, I'm really happy with this Chromebook. Best Chromebook to date. Also, a nice bonus is you get 100GB of free Google Drive space for 2 years.

Returned this Chromebook
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Did not like feel of the Samsung Chromebook Plus due to the smaller keyboard. The computer was also sluggish and glitchy. I really disliked this model and returned it for a lower priced Asus Chromebook, which I love!

This was bad
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Has all the disadvantages of a tablet and laptop, with the advantages of mine. Slow, no usb ports, heats up fast, weird screen shape, cramped keyboard, complicated folding joint that's sure to break.

Replaced my android tablet
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a fantastic Chromebook. I replaced my aging Nexus 9 with this guy and I am delighted. Chrome OS does all the casual browsing I could want and this Chromebook has access to Google Play android apps which have been working really well even though the feature is still rolling out. I see and hear a lot of comments about not having Microsoft Office on Chrome OS but the Google Docs suite does just fine and as I have an Office 365 subscription I can actually use the web based Microsoft apps with no issue at all. Overall I am delighted with this device, it is fast and responsive. The screen is bright and sharp. It is easy to take with you on the go being slim and light. The size is awesome and it folds over into a tablet if you just want to watch a movie or the like. The device feels very premium and I am glad I spent a few extra bucks over a cheaper Chromebook.

Exactly what I was looking for!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Exactly what I was looking for... I am truly enjoying using this device. I have a Note Pro 12.2 and a Toshiba Chromebook I will be replacing with this device (for the most part). I can not believe how much I like having the Android apps in this format. Almost all of them work well. I have installed Keep, Squid (works good in landscape, but not in portrait), Evernote, Newton Mail, Google Calendar, Photos, and many more. The advantage of Android apps over web apps is there connection with one another, and it's much easier if you use multiple Google accounts (I manage 7). As far as the hardware goes, it is a very nice device to use. The screen is beautiful and I really like the 3:2 ratio. I was going to wait for the Pro version coming out in April, but I couldn't. The Plus seems to be plenty fast for what I use it for. The stylus works well, similar to Samsung's Note series of devices and the Wacom pen I have works on it also. It will work great for signing documents, writing quick notes, annotating photos, etc. If you are planning to do a lot of art it may not be the best device, not because of the pen, but the usability as a tablet. The only thing I would say is if you are looking for a tablet, get a tablet. It is probably not the most practical use for this device on a regular basis, But as a Chromebook with Android apps and the other extras it is awesome. I really think I will get a lot of use out of it for business and pleasure.

Meh
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I personally was not a fan of the laptop. I ended up retuning it, because for the money, I would rather have a complete laptop that is capable of doing everything.

For College Students
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this Chromebook for only a week. I got it after my 2013 Macbook Pro failed me for the 4th time (hardware issues after hardware issues). I love Apple products (I think I just got a bad grape), especially after Microsoft's recent updates to their software. However, I only have one year of school left and am not sure what my laptop use will consist of after graduation so I wasn't about to drop another x,xxx on a computer that might end up collecting dust. I bought this Chromebook primarily for its ability to meet my needs as a college student and its price. I spend most of my time writing papers or working on group projects using Google Drive. It's a universal platform for most students on my campus and after having lost a final paper because it wasn't backed up in Word, I've never written anything outside of Google Docs. Because Chromebooks essentially run on internet connection and everything I use as a student requires internet anyway, this was a great option for me. This particular Chromebook is slim and probably weighs less than some of my paper notebooks, which makes it a great pick for students. I hope to see some more advancement with Android apps. Most of them work pretty well, but some have yet to be compatible with Chromebooks. I would also like to mention that although the specs mention a USB connection, it might be useful for some to know that this is USB C, not USB 3.0. I got a USB C to USB adapter on Amazon for less than $10 so that I can charge my phone or transfer photos from my camera without an SD card. I run Netflix and YouTube videos pretty easily and can have multiple tabs open with functional ease. I've also enjoyed the 2-in-1 feature much more than expected! Great computer so far!

it can run more than ChromeOS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Chromebook Plus earlier this month, mostly to explore the 64-bit ARM platform. When online, ChromeOS automatically updates itself, and thus far I've not encountered any issues running Chrome Web Store apps, and many Android apps from Google Play Store also work (some better than others). It should be noted that the default resolution under ChromeOS is 1200x800 ("best") rather than 2400x1600 ("native"), as it is easier on the eyes and for using the touchscreen. Linux also runs on the Chromebook in full GUI mode, using either Crouton chroot environment on the internal eMMC card, or dual-booting with Arch Linux on a separate SD card. Although there's no GPU hardware support in those distros yet, the software rendering via the ARM CPU is not too bad, as long as a lightweight window manager is used (e.g., XFCE, LXDE, etc. instead of GNOME or KDE). Overall, the display and build quality are great. The battery life is not too bad either for casual/medium use. My only nit is that the keyboard feels a bit shallow. However, for the price, it's a very nice, lightweight laptop, one that can run more than just ChromeOS.

Good but quirky OS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had my Chromebook Plus for 90 days now. I formerly used a Macbook Pro, a true workhorse that was stellar in form and function...it served me faithfully for many years. In the last two years my career took a different path and my workflow increasingly became simplified. The Macbook Pro was just overkill for most of my needs, so when it came time for a replacement I went looking for a simpler machine. I went in to the local Best Buy to purchase a Macbook Air, but they were out of stock. On my way out of the store the amazing display of the Samsung Chromebook Plus caught my eye. I was intrigued by the Samsung and impulsively made the purchase. Not fully understanding what the Chrome OS was about, I did know that if I wasn't satisfied after a couple weeks I could return it. Honestly, I almost returned it by the time the fourteenth day arrived. Despite the amazing display, I found the Chrome OS to be extremely frustrating and limiting...and unlike a Mac where everything is intuitive and just works, I found navigating the Chrome OS to be exactly the opposite. Despite the simplicity of the device, it seemed that I was constantly fighting to complete tasks that would otherwise be straightforward and super simple on the Mac. I stuck with it though, taking time to really understand the capabilities and limitations of the machine, and also to learn the ins and outs of the Chrome OS. I now feel like I finally have a good handle it, but some things I've learned simply cannot be done on a Chromebook. Some of the things I like include: Nice, snappy performance; Retina-like display; The ability to play 4k content, and likewise run an external monitor or tv at 4k@60hz; Compact, lightweight form factor; Decent battery life; The ability to download apps from the Google Play Store; Decent build quality; Convertible format Things I don't like: Key board is not back lit; Android apps are still very buggy; Inability to output 4k videos in 4k after editing (1080p is highest); Sound is tinny through speakers; Wireless signal seems to be weaker than other devices; About $75 overpriced. Overall it's a good first effort by Samsung. The hardware is nice enough and feels solid at its price point. I think the biggest shortcomings lie with the Chrome OS itself...although google is constantly updating and I suspect it won't be long before they properly integrate the Chrome OS with Android apps on the google Play Store. Would I buy it again?...in a nutshell, yes! I look forward to seeing what they do with the second and third generation of this machine.

Very Good!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.as someone who has never bought a computer before i was scared for such a purchase. I had looked at other computers, especially Chromebooks and decided on this one because of the unique flipping feature. I've only had it for a few days and love it! the display is super nice, set up was easy, tablet feature is very helpful, and runs very fast. The battery life also seems good. If you aren't sure about computers I recommend this product! the only negative I have is the backspace button is in an awkward position but that's something you can get used to.

Great chromebook
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolutely love this chromebook. I wanted a computer than could successfully and easily run android apps and this one has shown almost zero issues running apps or desktop stuff. Speakers suck. Standby battery life is pretty lousy as well. But screen is good. Device is quick. And very user friendly. I like using this more than my 1200 surface pro

Love this Device!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a Samsung Note 12.2 tablet and I just could not see myself going down in screen size. I tried other tablets and many had the windows operating system and I quickly realized I did not want that. This was the answer to my problems. I got this tablet 3 weeks ago and I use it every single day. The keyboard is excellent, it is easy to download my apps that I use and it just flows so easily. I bought this at a great price and at this point I cannot see getting through the day without it. I am a Recruiter so I wanted a device that I could browse resumes answer emails yet also shop and browse my social media. This is great and easy to travel with.

Awesome laptop/tablet!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This chromebook has well exceed my expectations by far! I had been looking at windows 2 in 1s, all over a thousand dollars. I tried a few of them and while they were really and very fast, it was hard to justify spending that much. I really just wanted something that was quick, light, 2 in 1, and just something that I could use around the house and for traveling. Well this truly is the perfect solution. Very affordable, best screen I have ever seen in a laptop. Seriously, this screen is absolutely amazing to look at it. The 3:2 aspect ratio is awesome as well. Perfect for a 2 in 1. In both laptop and tablet modes, this computer is a blast to use. Keyboard does definitely take some to get use to. I guess you could say its a little cramped compared to most keyboards but you adjust easily. Trackpad is great as well. Overall performance has been great. I would have liked the pro just for the added performance but at this price, the Plus is worth it. I run everything just fine including android apps. Oh yeah, this thing runs the Google Play Store!! Yeah, all android apps work on this thing. So cool. Battery life has been really good as well. Not sure how many hours but its been good. My only complaint with this computer is the lack of backlit keyboard. If it had that, this thing would of been perfect. Hopefully they make one soon with one. I would definitely then upgrade. That's how good this thing is. This thing is fast, boots up in seconds, never freezes. It is amazing. Just get it now.

One of the best out there.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had a thing for Chromebooks over the last few years. I've owned a few, and I'm not real satisfied with subpar performance on some of the cheap ones. But I did have a Chromebook Pixel LS -- the best of the best -- for awhile, and this, at less than half the price, is almost as good. First, the very few (2) things I wish were better: First, I always sideload Linux through crouton so as to have more app availability. Interesting thing, though, with the ARM processor, I couldn't get a full desktop environment to install properly. But xiwi works fine, which means I can still use all the Linux apps I need, and it performs well. Second, for some reason Microsoft Office Android apps are not available for this. I'm not sure why, but it is a bit disappointing. Hopefully that will get fixed in the future. But I rarely use them, so for me, it's not a dealbreaker. Google Docs does most of what I need, and with the Linux I have on here, LibreOffice picks up the slack. Now, on to the (many) good parts: 1) It's lightweight -- really, I was surprised at how lightweight and comfortable it is to hold when using as a tablet. 2) The aspect ratio -- at first, I didn't like the idea of not having 16:9, but for normal use, it's great -- easy to read and follow things, and I'm a musician -- and as such, I find it very easy to read my sheet music on here using the Android app MobileSheets. This is replacing my iPad Pro as my gigging device. 3) The screen -- it's extremely bright if you turn it all the way up. Easy to see, easy to read. No complaints there at all! 4) Battery life. It's not the greatest out there, but it's more than sufficient. I went to a rehearsal tonight at 7, used it for all my music, and then came home and started messing with the Linux stuff to get it to work. At about midnight, I looked and still had 52% battery life left. And while I wasn't being incredibly taxing, I was using it pretty consistently the whole time. 5) Keyboard. No, it's not backlit, but it really doesn't need to be. The keys are easy to see in the dark with the light of the screen. And while some of the edge keys (like backspace) are a bit small, it's a quick adjustment. I'm typing faster on this than I do on my 15-inch Windows laptop. 6) Price. I had a $1300 Chromebook Pixel before. This isn't quite as fast, but it's close. It's well beyond the last $300 Chromebook I had. I've had no lag issues, and it just feels like a great device. 7) The trackpad. Again, not the best I've ever had, but it's very responsive and the shortcuts and gestures I'm used to using all work flawlessly. 8) The pen. I've used high-end Wacom pens, the Apple pencil, etc. And this is not the best I've seen, but again, for the price, it's far better than anything I've seen on other devices. Plus, the easy functionality when it comes to screen grabs, magnifying, etc., make it quite useful. 9) The looks. It's just a nice-looking device. Not too fancy, but it doesn't look cheap either. 10) The construction. The hinges move easily, but they're solid too. And for as lightweight as it is, it's pretty impressive. Overall, it's a definite win. I continue to be impressed at devices I see coming from Samsung, and they definitely have a winner with this one.
