Customers are saying

Customers are delighted by the Chromebook Plus 2-in-1's touchscreen, ease of use, lightweight design, and good battery life. Many appreciate its convenient size and performance capabilities. However, some users express disappointment with the sound quality of the speakers and the lack of a standard USB port. Overall, the positive feedback on key features outweighs the negative comments regarding the less-than-ideal audio and port selection.

Great screen and build quality but,

This product has a great screen and excellent build quality but, it's just able to tackle what I throw at it. I know this might be a problem that only I would experience but, it slows to a crawl when I have 3 tabs open. I usually have either twitch or YouTube open while I have Docs open with my school assignment page as well. It gets to the point where I just have to go on my MacBook Pro to get it done. Sadly, I will be returning this and will look at something else. I thought this was be better than an iPad but, for me it's just not up for the task and I'll most likely just get an upgraded iPad. I would still recommend this product though as I'm sure it'll work great for other peoples needs. Thanks

Great Start but still needs work

I concur with all the great reviews and am in awe of the beautiful screen - moving up from the pitiful 16:9 of an old Acer C720 (a great machine as well) feel like a person with cataracts that can finally see! Keyboard is fine, processor is good if you are aware of its limitations (not a work horse, just for basic browsing and computing). Thumbs down on the speakers - I don't expect much from a laptop but Samsung went out of its way to give you tinny sound and low volume. But I can live with that considering all the other credentials. Not having a back lit keyboard is not an issue for me and don't mind the extra battery that results in as battery life is ok but not stellar. The big issue that resulted in 2 stars at this time is that the track pad is giving me problems and when doing a search I see that I'm not the only one. The pad is large enough and in general feels good and is very sensitive but has a glaring problem: I cannot click and select text or click and drag. I spend A LOT of time editing documents on my CB so this is an ESSENTIAL function and worked like a charm in my old Acer C720. The problem is that I have no way of knowing if this is just a bug that will get resolved in an update or a hardware issue so simply doesn't and will not work. I don't know if you can "fix" a track pad! So seeing that other people are having this problem as well is a big disappointment - if I was the only one then would probably get resolved with an exchange, but not going to take the gamble. So probably end up returning it. Maybe by the time the Pro comes out this will be resolved. Good luck if you decide to buy!

    Poor Experience

After a discussion with a condescending unhelpful sales person, who erroneously told me they were touch screen, I bought 2 Acer 14" Chromebooks for my grandkids. The first one would not power on and had to be exchanged, neither could be configured to manage supervised users as Google advertises and they weren't touch screen. After talking with a very helpful and knowledgeable sales person, I exchanged them both for Samsung Plus touch screens, same problem, one would not boot up and had to be exchanged, and even the Geek Squad could not make Google supervised users work. I can't recommend either Best Buy or Chromebooks.

    Good Overall

Good Fast! The build quality of this device is top notch. The screen resolution, clarity, and color easily surpasses many Windows laptops at this price point. Pen input with the included stylus seems similar to the accuracy of Samsung's current Tab A series (which is pretty good all things considered). Access to Android applications are a nice added bonus. BAD The onboard handwriting recognition software is hit and miss. Google Play & Android apps are still in Beta on Chrome OS so milage will vary. The speaker's sound quality leave a lot to be desired.

    So disappointed by this

I have been looking at Chromebooks for a while (Hate Win 10). However i finally bit the bullet and bought this yesterday (Not had it 24 hours yet) and the touchpad is glitchy (ghost jumping around) the stylus works great but the touch screen is unresponsive to fingers. If you restart the touch screen works a while but for almost 400 bucks i expect better than that. Unfortunately this is being packed and put in the box to be returned. So upset though as i love the size and weight and screen of this thing (WHEN IT WORKS). I guess I will have to stay with Win10. Could be a great option if it works. Looking online(Not on best buy)i see a LOT of people have had glitches with this chromebook for 399 it is not optional to be not 100 percent. I have tried all the fixes online and nothing gets rid of the ghost tracking. :(

    Great chromebook

I did a lot of research before settling on this Chromebook. One of the main deciding factors is the ability to run Android apps. The Stylist makes it feel more like a tablet comma while the keyboard gives it a computer feel. I love the fact that it completely folds around to make it more like using a tablet. So far my only complaint is the lack of storage space. But that's easily solved with a flash drive or external hard drive.

    Best Chromebook Available

This is hands down the best Chromebook you can get, at least until the Pro version comes out. So far I have found nothing negative about it, except the keyboard is a little cramped. I use it as my all around laptop/ online content device at home. I really love the 2-in-1 form factor, and its weight makes it a good option for tablet mode. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it, especially if you can catch it on sale.

    Quality issues

This is a beautiful chromebook and I was sad to have to return it. Light-weight with an incredibly bright screen. I thought the screen ratio would be weird but it's comfortable to read and the layout is great when using android apps. Load times are quick and the pen is handy and fun to draw with on the pressure sensitive screen. I upgraded from an Asus 10" flip so the cramp keyboard wasn't as big of an adjustment but for someone coming from a full size keyboard, they might have some issues hitting the wrong keys. Unfortunately I did have to return this item because of an issue with the screen rotating in incorrect directions (bad accelerometer?). Also it didn't recognize when it was in tablet mode so the on-screen keyboard wouldn't show or the keys pressed on the back would mess up the screen. I didn't see alot of complaints online so I'm hoping for a working replacement soon as it was great in the short time I had it.

    Poor Construction, Poorer Repair Service

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

If you should be so unlucky as to purchase this Chromebook, don't turn it on and use it. It will break. When it breaks, Samsung will ask you to pay more than what you purchased it for to repair the unit. The display on mine stopped working about 4 months after I bought it. I opened a service record with Samsung and they indicated it would need to be sent in for repair. I shipped out the unit and received a response that the display was inoperable due to damage The cost to repair was $408. I now have a $400 paperweight. Do yourself a favor and avoid the $400 stupid fine. Buy a Chromebook that can stand up to normal use, not the Samsung ones.

The screen is amazing, and runs perfectly as long as you don't go to crazy, the stylus is also really neat to have. I was scared at 1st cause of the price. but I'm glad i got it now.

    Looks Great - But Glitchy

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is a great-looking device. The display is brilliant and the case is stylish and sleek. Unfortunately, performance doesn't match the looks. I had it for two weeks and ended up returning it. First of all, it would randomly freeze up on me and need to be rebooted. It would happen for no apparent reason - not a bunch of apps open at the same time or anything like that. Second, I noticed that certain apps ran with errors that I never get on other tablets or phones. For example, the Sonos controller app would display the wrong song that was playing. (When I checked my phone at the same time, it reflected the correct song.) Third, I had a number of occasions where an embedded video - say in a Facebook post - would run "jittery" or even just stop and start over for no apparent reason. Finally, there are a number of apps that I use regularly that just aren't available for this device, such as my home security app. The concept is great, but I just don't think that all of the bugs have been worked out of this OS yet. I suppose I could have just gotten a "lemon", but I'd rather just get another Samsung tablet - or maybe even a Surface machine.

    Major hardware issue

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I loved my chromebook plus when I first got it. But began experiencing a major issue after the 15 day best buy return policy. I can not believe that best buy only allows 15 days for return! The chrome book acts as if it is possessed. It would open apps by itself. The screen would shake. You are unable to do anything unless you close the lid or restart. It would resolve the problem for only a little bit but eventually it comes back. Have a ticket number with Samsung but haven't heard back from them about it. Wanted to love it but now it's pretty much useless. Don't waste your money.

Nice computer but broken in first six weeks

I bought the Samsung Chromebook plus middle February 2017 from Best Buy. After less than 6 weeks of use it failed to boot up and is completely dead. Samsung service was awful and could not even identify the proper computer in their system to tech it. I asked for a replacement and they declined saying it needed to be shipped in 7-14 days turn around. I cannot in good conscience recommend this computer to anyone based upon the above mentioned.

So much potential, but not ready for rollout.

I had been waiting for this Chromebook to be released for a couple of months. I was SO. EXCITED. to get my hands on this beauty. I've owned a couple of Chromebooks in the past, and I had few issues with the other two. When I heard this one was being released with the ability to run Android apps on it, the Google/Android fangirl in me jumped for joy. Got one on Sunday, and straight out of the box it's a beauty to behold. Sleek, thin, beautiful crisp display, a pen, and 360 flip capability. *Swoon*. But after installing a couple of Android apps, problems began. The apps would constantly crash. The computer froze on me multiple times while only running 2 tabs (NYT and FB open) on Chrome (with nothing else running in the background), and the only way to fix it was to restart. Samsung customer support tried to help me troubleshoot, I had to powerwash it twice. It would run smoothly again for an hour or two, then start freezing up again. I love Google. I love Android. and I love Samsung. But I really believe they should have ironed more kinks out of this device before making it available to the public. In theory, it's a beautiful machine. Poor execution, however.

Naught but a large phone or a tablet with keyboard

My approx two year old Acer had faster response times using the Chrome browser and the battery took approx 2 and 1/2 hours to charge! And when i called Samsung and questioned such they stated that the USB-C was a "QUICK CHARGER"! Well for phones maybe but not a tablet hybrid that's a wanna be computer. Returned the item, with all hopes dashed!

Computer specs were exactly what I wanted, but the hardware had build problems. Something was not right with the trackpad and there was a gap between the trackpad and chassis. Also other minor software and hardware issues that are not acceptable at this price point. Cool computer, but not for $450.

My father purchase these Chromebooks for my sons last September. Within these last 9 months, one computer has had three motherboard replacements, a screen replacement and a cord replacement. The other is the same save for one fewer motherboard replacements. I just got both of them back yesterday, and one has already died. Hard pass on this computer.

Amazing laptop for the first week

Everything about this laptop is completely awesome; except, after about a week, it gets this horrible glitch where the screen constantly thinks you are touching it. I had to send it back to Samsung and they replaced the entire monitor. A week after I got it back and it is doing it again. Read this forum. It is isn't worth the trouble. https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/forums/v3_1/forumtopicpage/board-id/computers/thread-id/489
