Customers are saying

Customers are delighted by the Chromebook Plus 2-in-1's touchscreen, ease of use, lightweight design, and good battery life. Many appreciate its convenient size and performance capabilities. However, some users express disappointment with the sound quality of the speakers and the lack of a standard USB port. Overall, the positive feedback on key features outweighs the negative comments regarding the less-than-ideal audio and port selection.

Great Chromebook - a few negatives

I purchased this Chromebook about a month ago. I have used Chromebooks since they first came out, I thought it was time. The display on this device is wonderful, there is no other way to describe it. Bright, clear, easy on the eyes, watching video is great. And, the touchscreen and pen are great. The high pixel density is a bit of a shortcoming however. Google does not scale up the user interface elements for the higher pixel density. So the toolbar, chrome menus, window controls, everything is small. Too small for touch control. To make matters worse, Android apps don't run when the screen is set to full resolution. I would be happy if they ran in a window of whatever size they were happy. Instead of a warning or error, all you get is a black screen. You have to take the screen down to 1200x800 for Android apps. This is a lower pixel count than my phone. This is something that really frustrates me. Once running, Android apps work very well and I've had no problems. I like the form factor of the machine. It is thin and solid. I've not used it much in tablet mode, but I have used it this way for reading and have been pleased with the results. Battery life is as expected, all day goodness. Note about charging. This device charges using a USB-C cable. It needs a charger that supports Power Delivery Profile 3. While a normal phone charger can be used, the device only gets 5v/2a (10 watts). The charger it came with allows the device to charge at 15v/2a or about 30 watts. This is three times the amount of energy going into the battery. If you are going to get an additional charger, make sure it can deliver the higher voltage. No problems if it doesn't, it will just take a lot longer to charge.

I bought this for my daughter to use for school. While there were many cheaper options, it seems this is the one that would last the longest and grow with her through the next few years.

I love almost everything about this laptop - the big bright screen, the light weight, the speed, charging from both sides in both ways ... thanks to the two USB-C ports and what not. No complaints at all! This laptop replaced all my other devices including Macbook, PC & the iPad. All that I use now is this chromebook plus & my smart phone when I'm outside.

I traded in my Laptop for credit towards my Samsung Chromebook Plus purchase. I also sold my Android Tablet after having the SCP for a couple days. A must for me, is it runs Android's Apps as well as my Android Tablets/Phones. Since Android Apps are optimized for the ARM processors, the Plus will run Android Apps (I play Clash of Clans and use KODI) better than Intel based Chromebooks, it's a trade off as they can handle ChromeOS better, but it is no slouch at ChromeOS. I really enjoy my SCP. I rarely if ever use my Desktop PC any more. It's great for keeping in touch on social media, watching and interacting with live streams. Fantastic "2nd" screen during TV shows.. IMHO you'll love it. Forget all this talk about people saying the keyboard and trackpad are subpar or lacking. There is a learning curve on the backspace, only because people are used to typing sloppy because it's usually a double sized key. I've compared the keyboard with other Chromebooks and I prefer it. The backlit is more a gimmick but I see its usefulness late night or early morning typing in bed, dark room. But I prefer the battery life. The trackpad is as good as any albeit smaller. The clicks work fine. Palm rejection sometimes fails, but it happens on every trackpad I've used. I particularly love using mine with my Choetech Multi-port USB Type-C hub. Everything, HDMI, USB-C PD pass-through charges and anything I plug into the full size USB just works. Turn off the display or close it, and it switches to "docked" mode. Connected to HDMI it will extend the desktop or you can switch to mirror mode. As a 12" tablet, it works fantastic too! I didn't even mention how useful the pen is for navigating the screen when your fingers are dirty.

I'm a professional musician and wanted a tablet for reading music. I could not justify $800+ for an iPad pro 12" as I would use it only for reading music. This Chromebook is perfect.

This laptop is exactly what I was looking for! All I wanted was a smaller laptop with a decent sized screen that would be easy to travel with. Now, I really only use a laptop to write stories, watch movies and go online for Facebook and stuff like that. This laptop is perfect for me! The only things that would make it better is if it had a backlight on the keyboard and if it had a caps lock on it. It took me a minute to get used to not hitting caps. It runs very nicely. The battery is great. And I love that there's a charging port on both sides of the laptop. It's touchscreen 2 in 1 and I LOVE that. Overall for the price it is GREAT!

This little Chromebook is really nice. It is fast and the screen is bright and has an outstanding picture. The touch screen is as smooth as the nicest smart phone and writing with the stylus is the best and closest to writing with a pen that I've experienced. I also have a Chromebook Pro, (the Plus is my daughter's), but I think the Plus is fast enough that if I had it to do over again, I'd have saved the 100 bucks.

Let me just say this is my first google chromebook. I really didn't know much about them. I'm a desktop user (for the power) and I had a Samsung 12.2 inch tablet that I used for mobility. The tablet finally gave out, and after A LOT of research I ended up with this. If you're truly on the fence, consider this: you can spend 500$ on a regular laptop and be disappointed, or you can spend 500$ on a high-end google chromebook and be impressed. I have no idea what chromebook users did before Android apps were added. Running these on soley google chrome browser extensions seems like a terrible fate, and additonally, having too many extensions will slow down your browser. The android apps offer these devices a perfect balance, and give you the accessibility offered with a tablet with a sense of operating a laptop. You can do whatever you need to do with this...EXCEPT run office apps locally. Word, etc, would have to be run online from their website at this point. You do have alternatives, like google spreadsheet and so on, but I didn't want these - too much trouble to adapt their platforms. I found a GREAT "middle-man" for this is an android app called "Office Suite pro." You will find it in the play store for $15.00 and works just as well as office apps - and perhaps even better. You can save these documents in Onedrive as well, and they will appear as word documents to everyone else. You will also receive $20.00 to use in the playstore as soon as you buy this, so consider that addition free.

This Chromebook has a lot going for it...Great screen, excellent performance, stylus, touch screen, very high quality build, and access to the Google Play store. Overall, a great purchase. I do think there is continued room for improving the Google Play experience for a Chromebook. But I am amvery happy with this purchase.

I have had 3 other Chromebooks. Recently I have used the smaller ASUS Flip and the Toshiba Chromebook 13.3 (version 2). This Samsung is the best. It run Android apps smoothly. It have a very big and bright screen despite being very light weight. Built quality is as nice as I've ever needed. I got it for $419. I have seen turned in my Surface Pro 3 because this guy does every I need. The S Pen is a bonus.

I have many tablets, some with Windows, Android and a few that are dual boot. I have PCs, Macs and Chrombooks and I like this Chrombook/Android laptop the best. I use this device for playing, music, movies, YouTube, paying bills and surfing the internet. It's fast, light, great screen, great touchpad, 8-9 hour battery, great pen, it's a great second or travel laptop. Bottom line, I love this laptop.
