Quit working after less than two weeks
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this Chromebook on sale for my 7 year old’s birthday, whom needed it for school work. He used it less than 10 times for about an hour each usage. It locked up, the light was blue and wouldn’t change. I did some research, learned of reset options from Samsung, none worked. We ultimately had to return the device and are now trying to make a better, decision.

Last Samsung purchase
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Issues with screen after just 5 months. Product is under warranty, however Samsung's warranty support is awful. In addition, I am expected to pay to ship a product back to them for repair, when they sold me a defective product in the first place. I will never make the mistake of purchasing any of their products again.

Great Laptop for simple tasks
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just replaced my HP Pavilion Laptop with the Samsung Chromebook Pro and so far I love it. I know other people with chromebooks and have used them a little, and have never been impressed, but this is the first chromebook I've had personally and I love it. It has a premium feel. It is super thin, super light, has a metal frame, the trac pad is great, and the built in stylus is a huge plus. The display is beautiful as well, and makes YouTube and Netflix great. It has charging ports on both sides which seems trivial, but is actually really convenient. The laptop screen can fold over and be used as a tablet which is nice. I see a lot of people complaining about the keyboard, and I can see where they are coming from in terms of the size. It is a little small, and the tiny backspace key can be really annoying. I have no problems with either the size or the buttons on the keyboard, and got used to the size of the keyboard and backspace key in less than a week of moderate use. This is my first device with Chrome OS, so that is taking a little to get used to, but I do enjoy the simplicity of it. I have friends who have chromebooks and I had used those a little and had always thought that they weren't worth getting. This is making a chromebook believer out of me and think the future is bright for chromebooks. This also has the android store on it, which I believe is the only chromebook to have that, and that is a nice addition. Some apps are formatted for this device, but at the end of the day, that isn't a big deal for me. One thing I want to try is gaming with games like fortnite or overwatch. I need to do some more research, but I'm curious to see if that would work The Google Pixelbook was out of my price range, and honestly, I'm glad I got this instead. While the pixelbook is really cool, it is not worth double the price of this. This is a great laptop and I would definitely recommend this to anyone who needs a lower priced laptop for simple tasks, such as word processing, spreadsheets, YouTube, Netflix and the like. The entry level processor definitely holds it back from doing more complex stuff, but for what I need, this is perfect.

Fantastic little machine!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This little machine is a total beast! It has hands down the most beautiful display I have ever seen on any device. I am a longtime MacBook Pro user that wanted to find a more affordable option after my beloved MacBook Pro finally quit working. I did a lot of research and we settled on the Samsung Chromebook Pro. I am so glad we did! I didn't get a chance to test it before buying so I was worried about the normal things MacBook users worry about. Will I like the keyboard? Will I like the trackpad? We Apple fans get spoiled by nice hardware so we become kind of snobby. Well, let me tell you, the keyboard is comfortable and responsive and the trackpad is flawless! Seriously, it is silky smooth and feels even better than my MacBook! This little beast is zippy and very responsive. It was well worth the investment. My only "complaint" about this device is the speaker placement. The are down facing so when using this device as a laptop, the sound can get a little muffled. It totally isn't a big deal though because we normally have the device connected to a nice set of speakers. Headphones would also do to the trick. We are loving this little device so much. I cannot even begin to tell you how beautiful the display is. You will sit in awe of it, no kidding. It is stunningly beautiful at every single angle. If you are looking for a very nice and well made Chromebook, seriously consider this one. You will NOT be disappointed!!

Great buy and fabulous portable device
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the device for $499 during the Thanksgiving specials. I loved chromebook so much that I bought 3 for each member in the family! It replaced the surface and ipads that my family used to carry. One device for each person in the family. It is a great college computer for my daughter and for me as a business professional it has become my entertainment device to carry all my long flights. The downside is that the keyboard takes some getting used to.

Great lightweight computer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a well made and high performance Chromebook. I'd say it's probably the best value in the "premium" Chromebook space. The only real negatives I'll give it are the lack of a keyboard backlight and low speaker volume. Otherwise, I recommend it. P.S.. for anyone looking - I was able to run two external displays from this easily.

Great Laptop excellent design
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was using a windows laptop till about 6 months ago and got fed up with the slow & degrading performance of windows. Explored ChromeOs by dual booting my windows with Chromium OS, while it was without Android Apps and some other features, I was already in love with ChromeOS. That's where I decided to get my Chromebook and what better than a Samsung Chromebook Pro. Design: Its beautiful looking, Light and pretty sturdy despite it's very slim profile. The flip hinge is sturdy and comfortable to use in Tablet mode too Screen: Fantastic screen with amazing colours and probably equal to the best screen on a laptop today. The 3:2 ratio is pretty nice and makes reading a website and other things pretty easy Keyboard: I love the keyboard as the overall key press and feedback is great. Probably the only challenge is the small size of the backspace button, which causes a few errors. But I'm slowly getting used to it. The feel of the keyboard and play is just right and pretty comfortable to type on. Chrome even has the ability to customise some of the keys like CTRL, ALT, Backspace, Search, Caps, etc Software: without Android apps ChromeOS is a little incomplete as most things don't work unless you are connected to the net. But with android apps I'm now able to do almost all my work. Office Files can be opened on Google Suite Apps(Offline & Online Versions), Office Online or Office Android Apps(Works Offline too) I can do basic Image editing using Chrome & Android Apps. Basic Video Editing using Cyberlink, Kinemaster and others. While these are not good enough for high end professional editing, they are more than enough for personal and regular use. ChromeOS is super fast. The OS boots up very fast, wakes up from Sleep mode in a jiffy and saves a whole lot of time even when it updates. (You don't need to literally leave it overnight while it updates or hope it doesn't start updating just before an important meeting) Personalising the desktop would be a nice thing to be able to do. Stylus: I bought the Samsung especially for the Stylus to be able to take notes which are stored on my drive instead of various sheets of paper or notebooks all over the place. It does it's job pretty well. Feel almost like writing on a large diary with barely any lag when writing. Lovely addition for a laptop light enough to feel like a large diary. Android Apps: While these apps are great and add huge functionality and usability to Chrome, the apps still need to be refined to be able to function as well as they do on an Android Tablet. small issues like moving the cursor around or accessing SD card from all apps can create different experiences in different apps. Battery: Coming from a mid-range windows laptop, the battery life is awesome. It gives me about 7 odd hours of general use. I think thats pretty good. In any case I always have access to a power point so not an issue for me. Storage: The 64GB SSD coupled with a 128 GB Micro-sdcard is more than enough along with all the cloud storage one has. Accessing google drive and working off that is super easy and feels almost like a local drive when you use the "Files"App. Connectivity: with only 2 USB C, Headphone and Micro-Sd options it was a challenge getting a properly working adaptor for HDMI & VGA out options. Be careful to buy only branded products with warranty as I first purchased a cheaper option that only worked for 5 mins and then would shut down. But now that I have the right multi Adaptor I have no connectivity issues and it's as good if not better than any other laptop. Summary: I'm very happy with my purchase and am able to do everything I want to on this laptop and not missing my windows laptop at all

99% Happy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a review of the Samsung Chromebook Plus, Model Number XE510C24-K04US. (Black with 4GB RAM and 64GB EEMC) purchased about a month ago. After struggling through a huge problem with my windows 10 PC crashing after a forced update, I began researching alternatives, this was my first jump to a Chromebook (CB). I will use it for home and travel, not business to replace a Surface 3 win10 tablet. I can heartily recommend this CB but the transition was not without surprises. I am a long term user of Android phone and the transition from Windows Surface was fairly easy. It is extremely fast starting and so far bug-free, after loading scores of Android apps and about 10 chrome-extensions. I won't repeat what others have said here about the fantastic display, lightweight thin and attractive design, etc. Instead I will give several highlights/tips: - Almost all my apps from my android/win10 world will work on the CB either from Chrome Play store for extensions or from the Google Play Store for android phone apps. Two that I depend on, still need the win10 computer version for certain functions. Including Swann surveillance camera (for playback) and password apps for syncing and some utility functions. I'll probably always have to have a cheap win10 computer unless I find some other work-around for those two. - It handles still photos just fine but will not directly play my old Canon videos in .avi format. There are conversion programs (like VLC) but that requires a cumbersome secondary operation compared to Windows Photo Gallery. Happily, I discovered that my newer camera, a Canon 340HS records video in the MP4 format which does playback just fine on this CB. I will just have to use win10 pc if I want to look at my old videos easily. - The keyboard SEARCH button is placed where the CAPS LOCK button should be. Drove me nuts until I realized that it is possible to REMAP the keys. Look in Settings/Accessibility. - I don't have a problem with keyboard layout, it is slightly more compressed than the Surface 3 tablet. I suggest you go into the store and try before you buy. - Be aware that the power brick and USB ports on this puppy are the new standard USB-C. THEY ARE NOT physically compatible with older standard USB plugs and bricks without an adapter. USB-C has higher current capacity for faster charging (3.0A) and plugs are Murphy-proof i.e. the plugs can be inserted 180 degrees rotated either way. - I searched for sleeves and I found Amazon Basics 11.6 inch (with i.d. 11.75 x 0.4 x 8.5 inches) for $10. The CB just barely squeezes in but then I found the perfect fit was the Thule 13.3 inch, Gauntlet 3.0 at $50. It takes up more space and is a bit heavier. - Also I found the the Logitech m535 Bluetooth mouse works perfectly. All in all, this CB is a great product.

Buggy, but still alive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It still works, but never lived up to its promise of doubling as an android tablet. Chrome os has many more issues with day to day tasks than android. Common websites work better on my phone than they do on this Chromebook. This machine has found some new life through linux though.

Speakers ruin the experience
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought one and returned it because at volume, the speakers rattle. Second one does the same thing. I love the Chromebook otherwise. The screen is amazing, the keyboard is good and the pen functions nicely. It's the best laptop I've ever had, but these speakers make me want to throw it out the window.

Watch Out for WiFi Range
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a Toshiba chromebook I was looking to upgrade with this machine however I found out it did not have a good antena/wifi receiver and I lost contact in many parts of my house or it went into slowmo mode due to low bandwidth. Otherwise its a great chromebook especially discounted as this one is as a discontinued model. I did not find the keyboard to be a problem like others. The other consideration now that Google has committed to running full Linus apps on chromebooks does your chromebook have enough horse power. Acer is coming with the Spin 13 in three months which they say will do the job at a fraction of the price of Google pixelbooks but until there is clarification where the sweet spot of hardware is to run Linux well we all are in the dark; if you never see yourself running these than this remains a great option for android apps but watch out for the WiFi range for your needs..

Great Chromebook, especially after the sale.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very good device with a lot of solid features. Pros: -screen size and resolution -small and light -solid metal build -keyboard feels nice -great deal at this current sale price -64 gigs is nice -there's a cover for the sd slot like on a tablet Cons: -despite being nice, the keyboard is a little cramped -speakers could be better/louder -battery life could be much longer (the rated 9 hours is a bit of a stretch) -despite a better than usual processor, some games from the app store ran sluggish or didn't work (this could really be an app developer issue though) -no full-sized USB 3.0 port -no 8 gig ram option that I know of

I love it!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I replaced my Samsung Tab S as it was old and slow and occasionally had some graphics issues. I wanted something I could use like a Tablet but be able to access some of my work programs from home that I could not under Android. I've had it a few days and love it. I'm doing Citrix based work on it as well as using most of the apps I had on my Android tablet. Its fast, plenty of storage with a micro SD card, and easy to use. The Chrome operating system is a little different and scaled down from windows but its all I need. It only has USB "C" ports so you'll have to get an adapter(s) to plug in your standard USB devices. It's not much different in weight than my old tablet and to have a keyboard is great. I would recommend!

DOA Out of the Box
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Read all the glowing reviews on this item and was so excited to unbox this chromebook. It's an attractive chromebook and love the size and weight. Really disappointed when it didn't even boot up or power on - just a blank screen. Researching this issue online I found this is not an uncommon issue for this model. Best Buy was great about providing refund and offered to replace with another one. Decided to try the ASUS Flip C302CA instead.
