When playing a dvd there was occasional static with lines and distortion on the screen and in the sound, I connected with another cable, same result. Returned to BestBuy with out a problem (inconvenience though) and purchased a different player, which works fine so far. I owned a similar Samsung player which gave me years of unproblematic service. Maybe this was a lemon?

Good DVD player for the price

I haven't had any issues with skipping or stopping, but it does make a louder noise than I'm used to. The good thing is that when I turn the machine off with a disc inside, it remembers where I stopped it. When I turn it back on and press play, it is in the same place that I had left off.

Great blue ray player with extras
