We bought the Samsung DVD player to go with a Samsung TV we already had in the kids room. It has been great, the kids love watching movies on it. We have been very happy with purchase.

I received this as a birthday gift as it was on my list. Unfortunately, it is going back to Best Buy. - DVD player is loud. It constantly chirps at you even when you are watching a movie which is distracting. - After about 15 minutes of watching a movie the picture becomes fuzzy. We tried 2 different discs and it did it on both. When people start moving the figures become jagged along the edges. - No memory. One feature I liked about Sony was that if I removed the disc to play something else, it would remember where I was when I reinsert the disc at a later date. - You have to turn the player on before you can do anything else. Sounds normal? Not really. My Sony would automatically turn on if I pushed Play or Eject. Not so with this Samsung. I chose this player because the new Sony model doesn't have a display screen on the front which is something we like. - I had an older Sony DVD player that needed replacing. This was for our bedroom, so I didn't need anything other than standard DVD with upscaling. Best Buy salesman kept pushing a Blue Ray on my girlfriend. She said he rolled his eyes when she said this was all we needed. Terrible service.

Compared to my last DVD player (also a Samsung) this one is really a downgrade......sad considering my last one was two year old before the display went wonky and four years old before I was forced to replace it for this one. This unit is great for the price, but it is slow to start up and if you turn in off mid-movie, it does not remember where you were.

This is a basic dvd player and was very easy to set up. It came with the cables.

I took it out of the box, hooked it up and started using it. It really was a piece of cake regardless of you skill level.

I bought this to replace my broken 11 year old Sony, and it made it about 11 minutes before I decided that I didn't want it . This thing is total junk. It's very small and light which isn't bad except that the door is so powerful when it opens it almost launches the player off the shelf. To make matters worse, when the disc is in the player it makes an obnoxiously loud whirring sound and a constant chipping as it's playing. More still, it has a lot of useless functions, I wanted a DVD player, not a PC. I want to be able to put a disc in the player and watch it, not have to go through tons of extra steps to select that I put a disc in the player, that it is a DVD, and that I want it to go to the DVD menu.

Great low cost dvd player. Not a lot of features, but exactly what I was looking for.
