I have had this for a number of years and this is still going strong. Its a simple UI and the remote is as well. It works with HD DVDS as well which I like.

I bought two of these on this day and I still made a great decision with them both I have told a few of my family members and friends to go out and get one or two for their homes.

The player works as expected, but I would like to see it have the ability to be used vertically. I wanted to put it on the wall, behind the TV bit the DVD keeps falling out and does not play when made to stay in

I wasn't looking for a high end dvd player and this item fit the bill. I got it home and had it up and running in 5 minutes.

If you have a sizable DVD collection and don't want to go to Blu-ray, this player is your best bet. Provided you use an HDMI cable and have a high definition tv.

Maybe we just got a lemon, but DVD's that would play on what I assumed was our worn out DVD player of many years would not work on this one. It just froze and that was it. I had to drag my old DVD player from the basement to play the videos and they worked fine. I guess you get what you pay for.

When I took the player out of the box for the first time and plugged it in, it wouldnt turn on. NO POWER. Finally I got the power to turn on and I watched a movie. The remote would not work for some reason and I could not turn off or stop the movie. Had to unplug it from the power strip. I was done with it and took it back to the store. I got the Sony SR500H for the same price. Works just fine.

Purchased on sale, brought back a Sony I purchased at Walmart, we are very happy and actually going to buy a second one today before sale ends.

YOUR DESCRIPTION IS WRONG, THIS MODEL DOES NOT PLAY BACK MPEG4 FILES OF ANY KIND, DVD/JPEG/MP3 ONLY, ONCE AGAIN I AM SCREWED OVER BY BEST'S BUY'S LACK OF ATTENTION TO DETAIL! THE C-550 IS THE ONE THAT HAS MPEG4 PLAYBACK AS INDICATED BY THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL!!! WHICH I READ AFTER PURCHASE!!!

Good DVD player. Samsung make stood video products. Bought this as a gift and the receiver is thrilled.

Does the job I expected it to do. The price was well within my budget for a DVD player

It does not play DVDs that have been burned. Best Buy needs to update this. Here is a site that shows what format the player plays

I had a PS3 to play Blu ray. Just need a basic upconversion DVD player. Worked as expected.

Great player for the money & to use in the kids room

I had to take the first one back. The second one now has a similar problem. It needs to be unplugged sometimes to reset. Otherwise, it is simply a paperweight. I bought Samsung because of quality...I got something that might as well have been left at the curb. This unit has problems. Because of the first one I was forced to return, I guess the problems are systemic. Boo to you, Best Buy. Please, I abandoned Frys Electronics because of too many similar experiences. Best Buy, please, DON'T be like Frys!
