My Samsung Galaxy Chromebook is defective.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this Chromebook- I bought two of them: one for my wife and the other for myself. And the limited battery life didn't bother me. A few days after purchase, one of these Chromebooks exhibited intermittent touchpad failures, and a consequent mouse freeze, that couldn't be fixed, even by a powerwash. After experimentation and online searches, it turned out there is a known issue where some Galaxy Chromebooks will experience touchpad failure due to overheating. And yes, if I turn the Chromebook off for a while then the touchpad works when I power it up again. Getting in touch with Best Buy support has been challenging. Given local COVID restrictions I'm trying to orchestrate a curbside return (there was no unit in the store for an exchange.) I'm hopeful that the planned Samsung refresh will fix this quality issue that seems to be not that uncommon. I continue to be a hardcore Chromebook user, and the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook is outstanding. If my local Best Buy will get its support act in order, I'm sure I'll get over this aggravation.

Amazing product
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Samsung chrome book is an amazing piece of technology. I always used MacBook pro to do my work, but the chrome book takes the prize. The last two years has been a great experience. It has touch screen capabilities, can fold both ways and be used as a tablet, has two cameras, a stylus for my drawing and art and the battery life is great. I’m very satisfied with my purchase and will keep using this brand. I give this book a 10/10 for sure.

Excellent in every way but battery life
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this because the specs for a Chromebook were excellent. You can't deny the excellent design and that red is simply eye-catching. I've loved everything about this Chromebook except for the really terrible battery life. It's like having a Ferrari that only gets one mile to the gallon.

Great
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop has been great for my college use, since the laptop is so thin, there is not cooling fan built inside. So it does have the tendency to heat up. Although I learned that as long as you don’t over use the laptop or have the screen at full brightness 24/7, than it rarely heats up. But the 4k touch screen is amazing, the speakers are basic though so maybe invest in a small Bluetooth speaker for movies or music! Also on average I’m able to use the laptop for almost half the day, the fast charging is a great plus.

Very pleased.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Coming from HP/Microsoft, it did take a little getting used to but youtube videos have been extremely resourceful. So far the only downside I have noticed is what I had already heard in my 'pre-purchase' research, the lower battery life & how it gets warm quickly. I absolutely love it & have just barely scratched the surface of what it is capable of.

Premium Chromebook with limitations
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Still the best premium Chromebook you can buy. That said it has a crappy touchpad, awful battery life and runs hot. But you can't slow it down and the screen and form factor cannot be beat.

Compact, Quick, Easy to use
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Coming from an iPad user this Chromebook is amazing! I wanted something tablet-based but with a dedicated keyboard. I love being able to use it via the touch screen or trackpad. The battery isn't too bad, some reviews I read before stated that the battery life was very short, but I think I would get 4-5 continuous hours if I used it constantly. I normally am on this for an hour max at a time, but can leave it in "stand by" mode for a few days without an issue. I would give the sound quality a 7.5 out of 10 for something like this type of machine. It could be a little louder since they are placed on the bottom of the computer. Overall for something to use for light tasks & quick to-do's this thing is great.

Best Chromebook Around!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Small! Super thin! Light as a feather! This one has it all! The brightest colors and fastest speeds! Ton of memory and storage! If I had to say something negative about it though, then I'd say that maybe the battery life could be a little better. Overall, I highly recommend!

Samsung - Galaxy 13.3" 4K Ultra HD Touch
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a wonderful Chromebook. The i5 processor is the best part. I haven't had a Chromebook that can handle several things going on at once. Very fast and responsive! It is also a 360 degree Chromebook, which is great for watching videos or taking notes with the stylus!

My favorite chromebook
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love how light and fast this new chromebook is. I however do no like how thin the screen is. I woke up one day in the first week I had it and heard a noise like cracking. Sure enough I have a small but barely visable crack in the screen. Samsung has not accepted my warranty claim yet to get the screen fixed.

Great Chromebook for the (sale) price
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The screen appears small, but it is so crisp and sharp. Samsung Galaxy chromebook is a good price for a 4K UHD screen, and the i5 with 8gb has enough power for a smooth frictionless Internet experience. What's also great is that his laptop comes with a light pen that fits right in to the side for easy storage. Highly recommend!

So very sleek but so poor on battery
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can't deny the fact that I bought this device because A: It's a beautiful red color and B: Samsung made it. I think at this point I'm breathing Samsung as my phone, watch, tablet, monitors, fridge, dishwasher and robot vacuum are all Samsung. But this doesn't mean I don't think there are flaws in their products. I've previously owned their Chromebook Plus and Chromebook Pro devices and liked them a lot. I've also owned their Galaxy S tablets from the S3 to the S6. I recently sold my Tab S6 because Android tablets are just not getting enough support, even from Samsung themselves. With Chromebooks at least, you get 4 or more years of support from Google. Now for this device, from the day it was announced, to the day it was released, I have been fighting with myself on whether I should buy a $1000 Chromebook or not. The price is very steep. There are plenty of other Chromebooks with similar specs and lower price (see Google Pixelbook and Lenovo C630). But I don't think there's anything out there that is as thin and sleek as this device. It is such a beautiful device that I use it just because I want to keep looking at it. I've been using it for 2 weeks now and I want to share some Pros and Cons of owning this expensive Chromebook. Pros: - Size. This is a 13.3" device with practically no bezel and no wasted space. It is so small. It can fit in almost any bag. - Display. An incredibly gorgeous 4K display and very bright too. It's crazy how bright it can get and probably what contributes to the poor battery life. - S-Pen. It has an active pen for writing and drawing, it's always a plus. If you don't like the pen that comes with it, you can use the bigger pens made for the Galaxy tab series. - Specs: 10th Gen Core i5, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, which is a lot for a Chromebook. Usually you have to use a Micro SD card to have that kind of storage. - Linux support. It's always good when Linux is supported, you can install some apps you wouldn't otherwise be able to run on either Chrome OS or Android. - I/Os: I have to give it to Samsung for still including a headphone jack. This device is thin enough for them to find a dumb excuse to omit it but they kept it. There are also 2 USB-C ports, one on each side and you can charge from either one, and a Micro SD card slot which doubles as a UFS card slot. The latter has faster read/write speeds but is very expensive for less storage space than Micro SD can currently support. Cons: - Battery life. This has got to be the worse battery life of any Chromebook or Android tablet ever. From a full charge, I'm lucky if I get 6 hours but most of the time, I get 4 hours. I noticed that lowering the brightness will improve it but not by much. - Heat. I'm not sure what the trigger is but even watching a video will get this device hot. I believe it is fanless and uses the body to dissipate the heat. It has holes in the bottom but I don't think that helps when it's covered by whatever surface it is sitting on. Heat is bad for the battery so I'm sure it also contributes to the poor battery life. - No back-lit keyboard. I'm not sure if it's even possible to get it done in such a small device but it would have been nice. - Tablet mode. The Galaxy Chromebook is small enough to be used as a tablet and still be comfortable. Unfortunately, the device does not "fully open and sit flush with it's back in tablet mode and that is annoying. So yes, the device doesn't last long on battery but I am always near an outlet so I can either charge it or keep it plugged in. The heat is bothersome but I have a cooling pad that helps a lot. I just wish I didn't have to rely on that. But everything else has been great. I was able to install a few Linux apps and most of the Android apps I use. I haven't noticed any slow downs so far. The keyboard, while not back-lit, is great for typing and the touchpad is quite big for the allotted space it was given. I've used the S-Pen here and there but I'm waiting to get a screen protector to avoid scratching the screen in any way. I'm going to take the risk and keep this device because I really like what it tries to give you on paper. The battery life is the biggest drawback and I am hopeful for a future update that will improve thing. Keep in mind that the Google Pixel Slate was terrible at launch but got better with each update. If you really like the looks of this device and the performance and don't care about the price, go for it. but otherwise, I don't recommend it.

So Darn Good In So Many Ways, And Yet Rookie Error
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.OK So, I love Samsung and currently have the Galaxy Chromebook 2 QLED and absolutely Love It! The Screen on this one is utterly spectacular. Almost worth it just for that. Throw in the i5 and 8GB memory. And this is a serious Flagship. Samsung if you guys can explain 1 thing, then hopefully I can bump this rating up to a 4 Stars. That being. This Chromebook is one of the few to be rocking a 4K UHD screen add that to the processing power and one would think that this was built for media consumption. But then explain to me why this specific Chromebook only supports 1.5 of the major streaming Apps?!?! The only apps supported here are: Amazon Prime and HBO Max. And don't tell me it's the Play Store, because even the Samsung Chromebook 2 supports Amazon Prime HBO Max Disney+ Netflix Hulu and a couple more in this disgusting compromise called "Tablet Mode" (Vudu, Movies Anywhere, and GoogleTV) Lenovo Supports pretty much all of the streaming services. So I didn't get to put it through most of the rest of it's paces since the no apps is a game ender. I usually use chromebooks while traveling as they are light, compact, as easy to launch. But don't really lend themselves to desktop periphery setups. But to the extent that I can address other areas for this laptop: Pros: Screen - The Display is class setting. Exceptional Speed - Is one of the fastest of my chromebooks and on par with my windows laptops (all i5, i7, and Ryzen 5) S-pen - Such a great addition for functionality. And easy to store. Keyboard - Very natural, responsive and easy to use. Expandable storage via micro SD. I wish Samsung kept that in their Galaxy Cell phones. They sadly try to hard to be like Apple. Nobody needs or wants your proprietary cloud. Or to pay for your overprices internal storage. Esp when your SSD's, portable SSD's and flash memory is best in class. Build Quality - Solid feel and resistant to fingerprints. Cons: Lack of supported streaming apps in only this specific SKU Battery Life - Everyone already hammered them on this. Its' true. But I'd gladly carry a power brick if they fixed the app problem. Though Samsung isn't a stranger to power hungry devices. Not thinking about this in advanced is kinda inexcusable. In summary: With a couple of tweaks this could be a top seller for Samsung. And I hope they bring this back as a Chromebook 3 exact same specs. Just beef up the battery. And get some darn apps. Everything else is perfect. I'd pay the outrageous $1k, or more like $600-$700 for that. Heck you could even cut it down to 3K or even OLED or beefed up QLED. Because my Chromebook 2 is still a little sluggish. Heck maybe even play around with a Ryzen or Octa or Deca Core ARM processor chip. In any event, if you are more of a medium aggressive user who needs a little more horsepower for multiple windows and/or apps/programs then this is a good fit when on sale. But if you're a media consumer, you will be left heartbroken.

Beautiful, Snappy and Responsive, Weak Webcam
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Loving my new Galaxy Chromebook overall. The design profile is slim and lightweight without sacrificing any durability or premium feel given the high-quality materials. I haven't experienced the overheating issues that others describe, but find myself underwhelmed by the front-facing camera resolution (only 720p vs Pixelbook Go's 1080p). Recommend this device if you're looking for an upgrade from the Google Pixelbook (2017)!

The BEST high end Chromebook besides the Pixel ser
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. An AMAZING Chromebook experience. I currently own a Chromebook Yoga from 2016 and a Pixel Slate (which is AMAZING despite what critics say) and this device is no different. The Galaxy Chromebook is the BEST Chrome OS device I've used to date, with the exception of battery life. It's not abysmal but it's not the greatest either. About 6 hours or so but I mostly plan to yet it at home any way. In short,I highly recommend this but not for $999. Get it on sale for $799 or less

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is every bit as awesome as claimed! Super sharp display, very light, and sturdily built. I love how light it is to carry. And the fire red color is eye-catching. I do not regret this purchase at all! Switched from a Dell (Windows) and should've done it a long time ago - Chromebooks live up to the hype.
